  1. Does Jane Espenson even know what is happening on her own show or do her Rumple goggles obscure sense? Because what she said doesn't actually make sense at all. Rumple's intention had to be to bring magic to Storybrooke BEFORE he found out Belle was alive because he had just executed a risky double cross that put the son of the two other people with the most power in the town in danger.

Plus giving back magic evens the playing field a lot more and that would be a silly move if his intent was revenge.  Come on, Jane.

  2.  Are you talking about the ask Ausiello Q&A? Andy Horowitz stated that Rumple had indeed intended to release the magic long before he found out Belle was alive. I didn't see anything that came from Jane...

  6. Thank you.  I thought it was just me.

  7. Jane Espenson replied to the question, but it was removed:
“I thought that was explicit in the episode,” consulting producer Jane Espenson responds with a laugh. “You could make a case that [bringing magic back to Storybrooke] was always part of his plan, but yeah, it was definitely a counter move based on his anger at Belle being locked away. That doesn’t mean that that’s his ultimate end; he may have had a goal beyond that.”

I think she means his plan was always to bring the magic back, but the reason he was in such a hurry and couldn't wait 5 more minutes was because of revenge?

  8. I don't think it was even 'he couldn't wait five minutes more' because of revenge. He had to act immediately because he had just double crossed the evil queen and the saviour while they were trying to save the life of their son. He either had to act quickly or assume that they would come for what he stole.

  9. I know, right? When is Patty Hewes ever appropriate?

  10. They completely took out the answer they had and replaced it with one from the creators.

  11.   I'm so surprised she said it was a counter move, when its so blatantly obvious that it wasn't. Belle being locked away certainty added more fuel to the fire but Rumple was already on his way to release the magic. I don't know how she could of said that......? Maybe she misunderstood, nah,i doubt it.

  12. As usual, he copies other people spoilers and doesn't credit them (this time I'm referring to the Breaking Bad casting call that already leaked out some days ago).

  13. Jane is really blinded by Rumple.

  14. True Blood: Looking forward to Sundays's episode!

Once Upon A Time: I am glad for a little clarity, because I think they way the events unfolded where unclear, but I did presume that Belle was something he didn't anticipate, but wasn't sure how her existence changes what ever his longer term agenda was/is. So I am glad that's part of the season 2 set up (which I am hoping means Emilie de Raven and Sebastian Stan will have heavier reoccurring roles...)

  15. Its either Rumple or she is just blinded period, either way that was a pretty big screw up on her part, she supposed to know the storyline! Its really inexcusable.

  16. I think it's a counter move, but not on Regina's behalf...I think Jefferson is part of a possible third party! He's the one that knows releasing Belle would make whatever Rumple is trying to do much harder, which means Jefferson knows Rumple's plan...

  17. Darth,Ooh,i didn't think about that. But wait, what we are talking about is Jane Espenson's comment that she made ( she roswellian51 comment that she copied from the article) and after she made that comment it was deleted and Andy Horowitz gave the answer that was in Ask Ausiello. That is what Courtney was talking about. When i read the Q&A i didn't see what Jane had said, not realizing it was removed.
But what you are saying about Jefferson and Belle is very interesting,i haven't given much thought about next season and what might be happening, and why it might be happening, good stuff there Darth!!

  18. I got the just of that, but I think it was removed because J.E. kind of stated it wrong (in terms of what the other writers want us to know). I think there is truth to what Jane said, that this does have to do with Belle and Revenge, just that she gave something away that the audience has yet to understand, which is probably why H and K's statement ended up saying as much...It wasn't so much that J.E. is wrong, as much as the way she put it, doesn't relate to us viewers yet, because we have yet to see Rumple's motives (and who know's who else' beyond/ or in conjunction with the curse!)

  19. To be fair there are probably a lot of talks in the writers room about what everything means and where everything is going. I think it's real easy to make a mistake like that. However, I think Jane could very well be right that it is about Revenge and it is about Belle, but perhaps not this "specific" instance of releasing/returning of Bell...I think there seems to be a BIG piece of back story missing as far as Belle is concerned, because if you look at Jefferson's motives, one would have to assume that Belle is bad news for both Regina and Rumple for Jefferson to think this will hurt Regina and for the writers to tell us that Belle puts "a wrinkle" in Rumples plans...

  20. I don't think that was his plan at all. I think he was trying to use the most powerful magic of all - the love he bottled from Snow and Charming - to put in the wishing well (which returns lost things) to try and bring back his beloved and very lost son. The consequence ("all magic comes with a price") is that now Regina is likely to get her magic back too. Getting Belle back was just a bonus, as he thought she was long dead.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Then why did he go to his shop after getting the potion? Wouldn't he have immediately went straight to the well if he was worried about them coming after him?

    ReplyDelete
  22. But he went out of his way to have Charming "hide" the potion (bottled love) in Maleficent, suggesting he was preparing. Another side of this is, I am not sure (either because I don't remember, or because we haven't been told the whole story) from whom Regina learned that she could make the curse (where did she get the knowledge and no how?)...let alone if the curse wasn't also used to Rumple's advantage as a first stage to find his son... (implying the curse was also apart of Rumple's plans...)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I thought he just released Belle because he knew that Rumple would physically and emotionally torture Regina in all the ways he couldn't, as she had just taunted him.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Regina didn't make the curse. Rumple did.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah. I agree. Jane gives terrible interviews

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe he had other things to prepare. But it was probably just a plothole.

You know, like how Rumple got the sword in the first place, considering it was in Regina's possession when the curse was cast.

    ReplyDelete
  27. or like when he didn't question Regina's lie about Belle being dead. You'd think he'd at least check it out to make sure it was true. He's a smart guy, he knows what Regina is like.... Yeah plot holes galore.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought that too, until the writers said,

When he discovers that Belle is alive and that Regina had her locked away, that’s a wrinkle in his plan and something that he must deal with in Season 2.

...the fact that he had these plans prior to Bell's release-thinking she was dead, suggests that Jefferson's motives have further consequences than just getting Rumple mad at Regina (whether he knows that or not is a guess, but I would bet Jefferson is a character whom has missing pieces of useful info)...otherwise I would say it seemed like it was just out of desperation, but now I think Belle has more weight with all of these things, then I previously thought...I mean even that idea of her being locked away like a mentally ill patient, could play into that idea that there is in fact something 'off' with her (going along with de Raven's season 6th Lost persona) ...In the lyrics for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" the town's people sing, "She really is a funny girl, a beauty, but a funny girl. She really is a funny girl, that Belle!"...So I kind of think since they actually kept Disney's persona of Belle (looks and name, and the reference to "chip") that there could be something to Belle being a little strange....which also goes along with Jefferson's other persona... 'The Mad Hatter'!

  29. Ok. Thank you! That makes sense. I thought that was the case, but couldn't quite remember for fact that it was all Rumple's doing! (:

  30. The show has a bazillion plot holes.
