The 2012 STV Favourite TV Series Competition - Day 4 - Fringe vs. Bones & ER vs. Charmed

22 Jun 2012

Welcome back folks,

Day 3 has now wrapped up, and we saw Grey's Anatomy dish out a trouncing to Hart of Dixie, putting itself in round two with an impressive 71%. It was not as impressive as Firefly's 74% win over Freaks and Geeks, although the Grey's poll had much more votes, which is a common theme between current show polls and finished show ones.

Today sees two more current and two more finishes shows doing battle for a place in the next round.

Firstly we have one of the biggest clashes of round one, as two FOX shows do battle for a place in the next round. We have cult science fiction show Fringe attempting to beat the long running Bones for a place in the next round. Both shows have vocal and large online fan bases, so it should get messy today!

Secondly we have the most Emmy nominated show of all time, ER, taking on supernatural drama Charmed for a place in round two. This should draw in two completely different crowds of fans, so it also will be interesting to see who wins.

If you haven't joined in the competition before, remember that all you need to do is simply select which show is your favourite in both of the polls below. Easy!

If you want to see the draw for the rest of the competition, and see which show will take on which other show then head HERE for a look. Let the voting begin!

  1. I voted for Fringe and ER, two of my all time favourite TV series. Also hpow can you deny ER's Emmy record for its first few years. Staggeringly good!

Fringe deserves a vote as it's a brilliant sci-fi, that particularly in years 1-3 had a fantastic story arc!

    ..I vote bones and charmed

    ReplyDelete
  3. Fringe hands down and Charmed because I've watched some episodes of that show, never ER.

BTW Adam, you used the Character Cup Tag for this and yesterdays competition. This can make it difficult to find them. So please add the 2012 Series Competition one. Thx!

    Fringe all the way...and Charmed.

    ReplyDelete
  7. loved bones first couple of seasons then it started to become all about the romance which turned me off. Fringe had romance but it interweaved so seamlessly with the story arc, the pacing of the show was never a problem, Fringe ftw! Never saw ER or Charmed, but, thinking back, ER was all the rage when i was younger, so i'll vote for ER because of that.

  8. Bones and Charmed!! Love those shows!!

For me the first on easy, Fringe, as it best Sci-fi show on in the least few years, and it has such great story, acting, writing etc. For the second poll I voted for ER, as it prime it has such a great such, love it, it did go down hill but even than it was better than Charmed. I do not think I could it through any episode of charmed anymore.

  10. Fringe for me, and I don't watch the others =]

    ReplyDelete
  11. Fringe Fringe Fringe Fringe Fringe ....all the way. Oh and the award winning ER!

  12. in stvplus the ones for Day 3 & 4 weren't displayed, so it took some digging. :D

    Easy. Fringe. Unbelievable show.
Haven't watched either in the second poll so didn't vote

  14. FRINGE! FRINGE! FRINGE!

    Sorry. Got carried away.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Fringe for me and I don't care who wins the other one, so no vote.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Are you kidding me it couldn't be anything but FRINGE!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Bones but my heart belongs to Fringe!
I also went with ER,what a great show it was especially in those early years, great cast, better than Grey's and i love Grey's

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh soooo much better than Grey's!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Voted Charmed, love that show and never watched ER, so yeah. Voted Bones only because I've never watched Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bones for the first poll.I tried Fringe but sadly(and surprisingly),it wasn't for me.
And ER.I do like Charmed, but ER in my opinion is in the Top 3 drama series of all time.Good writing and top-notch acting.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Fringe and ER for me!!! how can be ER losing against Charmed?? lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. LOL, I was wondering how long it would take before someone said something to me! I would have to say the first 4 maybe even 5 years ER couldn't be touched, the writing was superb, and they had great storylines. Even in the later years they were still good, towards the end,meh....Yeah,i do think it was better then, now? I don't know if i would feel the same way but i have more good memories of that show then i do with Grey's.With Grey's i stopped watching twice for awhile i didn't like where the storyline was going and i didn't care for some of the actors. So yep,ER was the Bomb as my neighbors kid is always telling me! :D

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bones and Charmed for me. I still love Charmed!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, Fringe of course. And ER was amazing, with incredible writing and acting. George Clooney, for Pete's sake! And Julianna Margulies, and Noah Wyle. Surprised it's lagging.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I didn't watch ER or Charmed, but I voted for ER. And FRINGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. pinkphoenix198522 June 2012 at 15:07

I feel so conflicted because I love both Bones and Fringe but my vote went to Fringe. I hated choosing between ER and Charmed too but my vote went to Charmed because it was my favorite throughout its entire run....

    ReplyDelete
  26. FRINGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fringe is the one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Still moaning the loss of The Big Bang Theory. I thought it would make it to the finals. I live in dorm and I will vote for Supernatural, from 10 of my friends laptop computers. Hope that's 'legal' on this website.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I voted for Bones. I enjoyed the early seasons but then it sort of wore off.

I gave it to Charmed. It's been one of the very few shows I have liked that have had female leads. But it was all about family and I loved that. :)

I can't be bothered with hospital dramas. They are just dressed up soaps.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bones and Charmed for me ;) Even so Fringe really is a great show !

    ReplyDelete
  31. I see I will probably lose today, but that's ok.

I voted for Bones, because I could never really get in to Fringe.
ER, because I watched it almost from the beginning and loved it. Never could get in to Charmed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry to all you Fringe people (though I wouldn't be worried about the show's performance on THIS site), but I had to go with Bones. I've seen a few episodes of the show, and I don't deny it's good, but I've been with Bones from the beginning, and I think it's still going strong in terms of both the writing and the tone of the show. It's still fantastic after seven years. I didn't vote at all on the second poll - I never really got into Charmed, and I haven't really seen ER.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Fringe and Charmed. Fringe is awesome, and I have so much love for Charmed, which isn't really rated or talked about that much.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah, this was hard for me too. I'm such a big fan of Bones, but my love for Fringe just had to come first,,,To bad they had to be up against each other,

    ReplyDelete
  35. Two days in a row,maybe Monday?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well you know how to create a stir! It's funny when Grey's started I know I compared it to ER, but by now, I'd completely forgotten it was a medical show and until I read your comment didn't think about connecting them, so I guess the way I watch Grey's as changed over the seasons. ER certainly went downhill in like season 27, but I'm with you at the beginning it was a revelation. Unfortunately, both have suffered from too much cast dispersal.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I started reading through all the comments it was ER this and ER that but people are voting for Charmed, hooray. I love that Charmed, even after Shannon left (while everyone was on the I hate Brenda bandwagon, I was rolling solo with a I love Brenda fan club). Holly Marie Combs really upped the ante after Shannon D. left, and Piper + Leo = epic love.

  38. Finally a round where I watched 3 of the 4. I've got to watch more TV. I loved both Fringe and Bones, but since Fringe is the only one I'm still watching it gets the vote. I was never a huge Charmed fan, watching mostly the occasional rerun on TNT but I don't like medical dramas so I've only seen the "big" episodes of ER. Charmed gets the nod.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes they certainly have suffered with all the cast changes..I call it the old tired blood syndrome.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Fringe and ER definitely... I never watched Bones or Charmed...

Its funny because back when Bones and Fringe were both aired on Thursday, I would only watch Bones, not having heard of Fringe. Then, one night, I didn't want to do my homework so I decided to procrastinate by watching "that one show after Bones" :) It was "The Abducted" and as I was watching it, I had NO idea what the hell was going on but I loved it!! Especially after the end of it. The next weeks I watched Entrada and Marionette, and was hooked (still had no idea what happening), so I caught up during that hiatus.
Now I'm an die hard Fringe fan, so, although I started out with Bones, I'll have to give it to Fringe.
Plus, I found some of the jokes on Bones to be really forced and contrived...

  42. Fringe and Charmed. Fringe is one of fhe most incredible scifi series ever to grace the tv screen. I enjoy Bones, it is a great procedural, but Fringe is one of my favorite series. Same for Charmed. ER was one of the biggest most acclaimed dramas of all time and i used to watch it with my mom, loving every minute. However, Charmed is the very I first show I got sucked up into and for its funny and heartwarming approach to a family bond mixed with a mystical storyline. I still go out of my way to see reruns on tv to this day.so it gets my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love love love Charmed....specifically the early seasons with the original cast

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fringe and ER! Charmed was awful and so dated!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Pretty easy for me today: Fringe (bones was great in the first 3 seasons but then went downhill for me, Fringe kept getting better as it went on). I liked both Charmed and ER, but ER is in a class of it's own for all the many seasons of entertainment it gave me....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Fringe b/c duh.

E.R. b/c it was a show that i really really loved growing up. the whole cast was superb. it went a little to long and should have stop a couple seasons earlier but it was a powerhouse in its prime

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love Bones, but como, It's Fringe we are talking about (Bye bye Brennan and Booth)

I have to vote for ER, it was just so much better in quality, and charmed decreased so much in quality on its final seasons that it was almost a train-wreck to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Definitely Fringe, but have problem with second poll....Let's say ER (for first 6-8 seasons!), though it's really hard choice, since I'm in the middle of Charmed rewatch!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Fringe is the only one of these four shows that I've seen enough of to be able to decide anything on, but since it isn't one of my favorite shows ever, I'll refrain from voting against Bones. (I imagine I'd like Fringe better from what little I know about Bones, but it looks like Fringe is winning enough right now that I won't feel guilty about not voting.)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Absolutely! That's how i felt about ER only difference,i was already grown...groan!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I voted for Fringe. I don´t watch the other 3 shows.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I voted for Fringe and ER.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Fringe - Happy place in my heart for Bones, but Fringe has become must see TV.
Charmed - The fun of this show put it ahead of ER (another show I really enjoyed)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Definitely without a doubt Charmed and Fringe! Yes this round was easy.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey Tony! Glad you stop by to vote!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love Bones and will be sad to see it knocked out so early but it's easily Fringe for me. Second poll is definitely ER - even when it wasn't at its peak I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. #FRINGE ... It was soooo difficult ;) !

    ReplyDelete
  58. Fringe. No contest. And ER. Because while I know Charmed has/had a passionate fanbase, it just never worked for me. I've seen several episodes and I think the show is awful. It's just not my cup of tea, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Charmed. It was the first show I really loved. Besides, I haven't watched any of the others.
