Day two has now finished and the critically acclaimed has beaten the network powerhouse, with Breaking Bad triumphing over Glee. I know Glee may have dropped in the ratings this past year, but it's still impressive that it has smashed the musical show out of the competition in round one. Also, Friday Night Lights has proven itself too strong for Farscape and has taken aim at a battle with Pushing Daisies in round two.
Today sees two more current and two more finishes shows doing battle for a place in the next round.
Firstly we have a brand new entry, as Hart of Dixie makes its inaugural appearance in the competition, but it faces tough opposition against Grey's Anatomy for a place in the next round. It's a tough round to call, with Hart of Dixie untested in a STV competition.
Secondly we have two cult shows going head to head. Firstly, Joss Whedon's criminally underrated sci-fi Firefly still has a large online following, and with Whedon's huge successes recently with The Avengers and Cabin in the Woods, more people may have been checking out the show. It has to overcome the high school drama that could, Freaks & Geeks which is no easy feat. The show has proven incredibly popular since its cancellation, and boasts a cast of big stars including James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jason Segal and Linda Cardellini. Can it beat Firefly? I don't know. Guess it's time to find out!

ReplyDeleteCan't imagine there being a show that I would ever pick over Firefly, so that was easy. As for Greys Vs heart of Dixie? 2 shows I have no interest in so can't really vote as I don't know one from the other.

ReplyDeleteI skipped the first poll, because I've never seen Hart of Dixie and this past season of Grey's was pretty awful. I couldn't give it my vote. The second poll went to Firefly, no question. It was a brilliant, underrated show that actually made me look twice at sci-fi as a genre.
ReplyDeleteOnce again the two shows I've seen are against each other so Freaks and Geeks it is. No shot it will actually win but I prefer the stoners over the space cowboys anytime.

ReplyDeleteIn all of TV, there are few casts of characters that I'd rather spend time with.
But Freaks was another great show that should have had a much longer run...
I disqualify myself on Grey's v Hart - never seen either.
I've decided I don't watch enough TV ;-). I've never seen these, except for one episode of Firefly recently, which was pretty good. But I haven't seen enough to fairly vote. May the best shows win!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Hart of Dixie or Grey's Anatomy, but I voted for Grey's Anatomy. I've also never watched Firefly or Freaks and Geeks, but I liked Serenity; so I give the edge to Firefly.

ReplyDeleteRunning shows: Hart Of Dixie (that one was easy. I've fallen in love with this show in 22 short episodes while it took me 3+ years to finally really get into GA and have been disappointed with the show since I did)
ReplyDeleteOn the Ended show front things were quite different... I ended up voting for Firefly, but I feel the need to clarify that it was tough decision because I love both shows and I think they're both TV masterpieces that got taken away from us too soon.
Grey's Anatomy in memory of my mom, it was her favorite show. And Firefly without a doubt!
