Hey guys,
I have to apologise for the long delay in getting the competition started, and unfortunately as a result of events outside of my control there isn't going to be a prediction element to the competition this year. Hopefully we may be able to get it going for the character competition in a couple of months, but for now it is just going to be you building the support and truly voting for the shows you would like to win the competition.
As a result I have compiled a spreadsheet website which (hopefully) will update when the results come through.

I will also add it to the post each day so you can see the latest results, and today you can see exactly who is competing with whom and which shows your favourites could find themselves up against. Like last year, current shows can only compete with current shows until the start of round three, where all the shows from TV history can do battle for the ultimate STV title.

Can any show here stop Supernatural from making it a hat trick?
Tomorrow therefore, will see Game of Thrones vs The Big Bang Theory as well as Pushing Daisies vs. Lie To Me as the competition officially (and eventually) begins.
I hope you're all looking forward to the competition. I know I am, and in fact the lack of the prediction side to the game may add a new dimension to the competition as it eliminates people from choosing who they predicted would win rather than who they want to win.
All posts for the competition will be under the label "2012 Series Competition" for easy finding, and can be found in the "features" tab on the main menu bar from the homepage.

ReplyDeleteWhere they are in the draw has absolutely nothing to do with how well it will do... it's just where it was picked to be... Supernatural has just as much of a chance as any of the other shows of reaching the final and/or winning!
ReplyDeleteAdam do you really think there is a chance for another show to win other than SPN? I think there is but right now SPN has the largest fanbase here. If there was another show even close to it maybe it would happen,but the way it is now i don't believe so. I will vote but i don't think it will change the outcome,not unless it was taken off the list.

ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you Adam. I'm very excited that this is starting so soon. Have to say you are killing me here in the first round again. Why oh why is The X-Files facing Buffy in round 1? I'm also very curious to see the results of Once Upon a Time vs Person of Interest - the 2 hottest freshman shows against each other first. Ought to be a blast. Full disclosure - if we were doing the predictions, this would be the first time I would not predict Supernatural to win. Boy do I hope I'm wrong.

ReplyDeleteI think this is the first year where Supernatural will not win, simply because there will be a concerted effort to vote it off instead of voting to keep something on. At first I thought Fringe would win but I now think that is debatable too. Both SPN and Fringe had seasons which fans were divided over and which produced a lot of fan criticism, while there are some new shows that have proven extremely popular on the internet. I think this contest is more wide open than ever, certainly more so than last year when there were really only 3-4 shows that could have taken the whole thing. My guess is that this year's contest will be very surprising. It's probably a good thing we're not doing predictions.
ReplyDeleteYay,so excited for this!I'm curious to see how some shows will do.Supernatural is a favorite as always,but Fringe is a very strong competitor,I expect Game Of Thrones to do well and I'm looking forward to seeing how some new shows will go,especially Once Upon a Time.

ReplyDeleteI have a feeling shows like Castle, OUAT will have a good chance this year. Their popularity seems to have increased a lot this year.
ReplyDeleteIf past experience is anything to go by a large number of results depend on how many external fans site pick up on the competition and encourage their readers to vote etc
Buffy didn't qualify? ;( that's depressing. Guess I'll be voting only for one show then (Fringe).
ReplyDelete...my friend ..I know I just thinks in horse race track when we had a lot to favorite to pick BUT the MASTER come from the last and beat it ALL..for me is a FACT,,,supernatural always is on front is a good way to bother other contestant to encourage them do it better.like and apprentice.
ReplyDeleteIf Castle beats the Vampire Diaries, it will be in the final 4 at a minimum. I can see it going all the way too. In fact I would say it is a forerunner, especially since most of its fans are ecstatic about where the season ended. I know Game of Thrones is huge on STV but I'm not sure if it has the external internet drive to push it to a win. It is the biggest wildcard for me. Of all the new shows, I agree that Once Upon a Time has the best shot. It will definitely get to the Elite 8 and has the best chance of toppling Supernatural of any show in that section. OUaT has a huge internet base that could definitely push it to the winner's circle. I also think it is a mistake to underestimate Nikita. It's fans are waging an all-out assault on the internet to drum up good buzz for the next season. They are organized and could easily campaign to push Nikita farther than ever. If it can beat Chuck, I see it in the Elite 8 also. Like you said, the winner will be whichever fanbase is the most organized and gets the word out best.
ReplyDeleteNelly, just think of it as being in the second place position. That is where second ranked goes in US sporting competitions. :-) Besides, we don't want to be in the first poll. Fewer people know about the competition at the beginning so it is harder to get the word out. This allows people to find the poll for a few more days before SPN is in the vote.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, winning isn't the most important thing about this competition for Supernatural fans. It's all about promoting the show and getting new people interested in checking it out. We have an opportunity to win people over to SPN and that's what it is all about. Not to mention, this contest is a great way to show people what a positive thing the Supernatural fandom can be. In this contest SPN fans are forthright about their love of SPN without tearing down other shows even if people tear down SPN. We counter stereotypes about it and help people see why we are so passionate about the Winchesters.
We want this contest to give Supernatural and its fans a good reputation to encourage others to try it. Please stop complaining about where Supernatural is placed. Instead start thinking about what you are going to say about Supernatural and other favorites when their polls comes up. This contest is a great way to show your love for all kinds of TV shows.
I still think SPN will win,last year fans came out of the woodwork just to vote.POI and OUAT has a large fanbase but i still don't think its enough..We'll see i guess,i just hope there isn't a repeat of last year with the comments,it turned me off,and left a sour taste in my mouth,that is one of the reasons why i didn't try getting into the show. But its a new year,with different fans of Spoiler,lets hope for the best and have a great competition!

ReplyDeleteThere are brilliant shows like GOT or Sherlock, favorites like SPN; and there are old shows like the x-files, BSG or FNL that deserve a tip of the hat too ...and There can be only one!

I'm a little surprised that white collar isn't in. I thought that show had a good audience and an appreciable fanbase.
If I remember right White Collar was maybe 7 nominations short of getting in. It was really close.
