i also dont get it, from all season finales (and all episodes this season), nikita has been OUTSTANDING! this is the best serialized show after 24! its so great how awesome every episode is, yet the ratings suck, i just dont get it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU AMERICA
Perhaps the CW upfronts where Jared mentioned that the brothers would be separated didn't work too well and put fans off watching; and as usual Castiel's presance didn't save the day.
That's a little weak as an excuse. Any followers of SPN would have stayed in at 9 to see it, if they really wanted to. After all it was the season finale and its last Friday..
I'm sure a lot of people are just fed up with brothers being separated. In the second half-hour the number of viewers went down, obviously it didn't appeal to everyone, not even to those who were already watching.
I'll say it again,Castiel's presence doesn't save the day and doesn't ruin it either.
In any case,it's not that bad.The show's been between 0.6 and 0.7 all season. It'll probably be adjusted up,making it the second best finale on the CW(not counting One Tree Hill's series finale).
Yes,Supernatural could have done better, but it's not terrible. It's interesting to see how it'll do on Wednesdays, even though I don't expect a huge difference.
In any case,I'm pretty sure we're safe for a season 9.There is no way they'll end it without a pre announced final season!10 seasons would be the ideal and then one more to surpass Smallville...And then we're good! ; )
Sorry, but I hope I never reach the point where I'm turning down social plans to stay home and watch TV - finale or not. That's what taping the show or watching it online is for. I just don't think most people make and episode-by-episode decisions on whether to watch an episode based on an interview or promo.
That may be, but the show is losing its heart and soul.
The core of the show, Sam and Dean are being put to the side in favour of other things and I'm sure I'm not the only one who isn't happy with that.
Then isn't it strange how Castiel is the one who finishes up with Dean in Purgatory? Wouldn't it have been more interesting if Sam and Dean had both finished up there together and would have had to fight their way out in some way.
No we get Dean with Castiel to please the fans of that pairing. Pwah
Clearly if one has other plans they won't stay in, but my point is that if you've watched regularly each week, logic dictates that you would be eager to watch the finale too.
Then we don't know how many people an on-line interview would affect but I'm sure a lot of SPN fans listened in to it.
Yes,Dean and Sam ending up in Purgatory together could be interesting too. But I also think that it'll be very interesting to see how they react now that they were forced apart. Seeing how far they'll go to find each other will also be proof of their bond, but in a way we haven't seen so far. All the times they were separated it was either briefly, for a case or because they were at odds. I like them together as well, obviously, but it'll be good to see something different.
The fact that he ended up trapped with Cas can also lead to some good story lines. But I understand that you don't like it,because you don't like Cas.
Those are the half hours for SPN, it could still be adjusted up to 0.7 like usually...
0.7/1.700.6/1.45
There's quite a difference in viewers though, first half was pretty OK and then looks like lots of people turned off. I doubt any interview posted one day before the finale had any effect really...
I have nothing against the actor or the character himself. He has just run his course for me.
Two's company three's a crowd, and never more so than in this case He's of no further use in the show and only makes the SPN fans argue among themselves.
If Castiel hadn't been there; with the brothers being separated as they are, it would have been interesting to watch how Dean manages to get out of Purgatory, or if Sam manages to get himself into Purgatory to rescue him.
But with Castiel in the mix, the whole Destiel thing hangs in the air and is has become as heavy as lead in the show, seemingly fuelled by the writers themselves with their stupid jokes..
No,I know you don't have anything against the actor. When I say that you don't like the character,I don't mean it as a bad thing. There are fan favorite characters that I don't like. Very natural!
Just keep in mind that not everyone who wants to see some interaction between Dean and Cas has Destiel in his mind.
While the interview probably didn't do the episode any favors, it probably didn't have a huge effect on the ratings. If I had to guess, it was that people had plans later in the evening or they got tired of all the talking about doing something that came up at the beginning. It was pretty slow there for a bit. I wish they had done all the talking in the previous episode and left more time for the doing in this one.
Yeah me too. It's not that I disliked the first half of the finale and I found Crowley specially ridiculously amusing, but I don't think that should have happened in the finale... way too many things going on and only a few minutes of actual battle with the Leviathans when they've be too much in the background this season has been a serious disppointment. So yeah, I can't understand if people got a bit bored or disappointed half way through it lol. anyway, still hoping for an adjustment up, it's not the first episode to get a 0.6 in preliminary ratings and then go up, so...
I too expect it to adjust up to a 0.7 so that it would stay where it usually does. Its really less of a question of where this episode ends up as a question of what happens with the premiere. If it goes up or down, we should have fun trying to debate whether it is because of the Wednesday schedule change, late premiere date, Netflix viewers/normal viewer attrition, new show runner, or where they left us in this finale. I expect their to be a lot to talk about with the CW as a whole next season.
I like isleofskye's idea of having Sam and Dean together in Purgatory and your idea of how far they'll go for each other. With a new show runner I'm sure we'll see a happy meet in the middle situation. I am not a Destiel shipper (it makes me cringe) at all but it will be interesting to see if Cas gets his mojo back to help Dean escape.
Could have been interesting with Dean and Sam.....however, from Jared's interview, it sounds like he is glad Dean and Sam are separated for awhile as he is wanting more personal time offscreen..... maybe the writers are trying to accomodate that wish? IMO....... and I think it will be interesting to watch Dean and Cas try to escape with Sam helping from his end....but again...just my opinion.....
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Nikita had an Amazing season finale and still have the same awful numbers! I really don't get it!!!

ReplyDeletewow! Grimm finished first .. I'm impressed :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, not too good for SPN.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the CW upfronts where Jared mentioned that the brothers would be separated didn't work too well and put fans off watching; and as usual Castiel's presance didn't save the day.
A more likely cause is that it was it was a beautiful warm Friday evening in a lot of places and people just decided not to stay home and watch TV.
ReplyDeleteThat's a little weak as an excuse.

Nakita 0.4 haha thats bad. Never saw secret circle dip that low. How pathetic.

ReplyDeleteWhen you compare it was last year's finale it's actually very good since we'll probably be adjusted up on Monday.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are because it wasn't very action oriented......I know a few people personally who thought it needed more action for a season finale.....
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if CSI New York gave Sid a episode and Adam a episode would be nice foe the next season.
