  1. Nice work!  Sela Ward+Warren Zevon+House jacking with everyone=MASTERPIECE.

  2. I watched for the first time in years, and I didn't like it. I can't believe House faked his death. And I am glad he and Wilson got to be together at the end.

I loved seeing everybody, though! That was nice.

  3. I don't know yet - it was crazy. I'm not sure what I think.

  4. That about sums up how I feel, too.

  5. Off the charts amazing. All of the returning actors brought it, big time. A great, in depth look at mortality was a fitting plot for the final episode of the series. Very fulfilling, emotional finale. Couldn't have asked for more.

It was amazing. I'm gonna miss this show so much... :(

  7. It was great. Cameron returning, Robert Chase M.D.,  House faking his death.... Perfect!

House riding off into the sunset with Wilson is a perfect way to end the series.

  8. This was the most satisfying piece of television I've seen in so long. This is a way to properly end a TV show. Loved it Loved It!!!

  9. I don't know if it's me getting smarter, or the writing getting worse, but you could see House faking his death from a mile away.

  10. How could you expect to like the finale if you haven't watched in years? Everything there meant nothing if you aren't emotionally invested in the characters.

  11. Part of me thought that having House die would have been fitting. Part of me thought House escaping was... cheap. And yet when he text messaged Wilson?

I was happy. A fitting ending. Everybody lies, and the biggest liar of them all is House.

  12. Perfect ending for House, just perfect.

Especially with all the returning characters, I was expecting Kutner, Thirteen, and Cameron, but every time someone else popped up on the screen I was surprised and I loved it. It was just perfect in every way.  The lack of screen time for everyone else was depressing for the finale, but as a whole I thought it was awesome.

  13.  Doesn't fit with the series reoccurring song throughout the series "You Can't Always Get What You Want." It would have fit that theme better if House had stayed dead and not get to have time with Wilson.

  14. I though the're going to show how everybody dies hahaha but this was way better.

  15. I liked it, it wasn't crazy crazy, but felt like goodbye. and I was glad to see old faces...I knew House wouldn't be dead, and i was very glad he faked his death to be with Wilson for his last few months. I knew Wilson would blow up during the funeral, and that text was too funny, "Shut up you idiot" lol. Then to let Foreman know he was alive as well, was also a nice touch.....i'm gonna miss this show...sigh...it was a great 8 years.

  16. Perfect ending to an awesome show!!!!!!

  17. It was fucking , the episode was great I have no other word to describe. All the cameos were great, loved every one of them, sorry that Cuddy did not appear.
I really thought the House had died, but everybody lies and House makes it better than anyone else.
Faking his death was as Sherlock Holmes.

I'm going to miss this incredible series,

  18. One word: Breathtaking.

The idea of looking at mortality and what it means for us all, especially Gregory House, to die.

David Shore deserves a standing ovation. He summed up everything neatly and in a fantastic way. But he sent the show out just like it should have been, on House. On his drug addiction, his friendship with Wilson, his taking advantage of his friends, and his want to die ( so that he doesn't go to jail without Wilson and Wilson doesn't have to be without him ).

The episode played out fantastically. With the patient of the week being a drug addict, willing to take the jail time for House. House deciding it's time to end things. Everyone that has been in the show visiting him ( minus Cuddy ) and delivering exactly what he needed to hear each time. The acting from the "comebackers" was top notch and spot on. It was good to see Cameron, Kutner, Cutthroat Bitch ( Amber ), and Stacy. The scene with Wilson and Foreman running up to the building was touching and shocking but in the back of my mind I knew that couldn't be it.

The funeral was just heartbreaking. Listening to the kind words everyone had to say about House ( glad to see his mom back again, as well as Dominica ) was so sad. Then Wilson got up to speak. And after hearing him say nice things about House you could see him starting to break down... starting to unravel in both sadness and anger. And he just unleashed. At everything he felt about the situation and previous situations. And in that moment, if you've ever questioned it before, you knew how much Wilson loved House. When the phone continued to go off and you eventually find out it was Wilson's I just wanted to stand up and cheer... because I knew it was House! I didn't question how it happened, I just knew!

The scene outside House's apartment really just broke me. The acting, the emotion, the writing, everything pieced together was just so emotional. House just couldn't do that to him or himself, but like he always does, still had a plan for the both of them to spend the rest of Wilson's time together. Absolutely perfect. They both love each other so much, you see that they're willing to go through anything to make sure this time is spent together.

Again, David Shore, you sly son of a bitch. You made everything so perfect:

    - Chase got the promotion he wanted. House's job. Head of the Diagnostics department.
    - Cameron has a great life; presumably married with a child.
    - Adams, Park, and Taub are all working their same job under Chase.
    - And Foreman is still the head of Diagnostic Medicine.
                          *and most importantly*
    - House and Wilson get to spend the rest of Wilson's life ( however long that may be ) together in an unknown location.
*everything was tied up perfectly ( as it could be )*

This was one of the best finale's I have ever seen personally. It ended exactly how it should have. House has meant alot to me over the years. It has been apart of me for the better part of my adult life. To see it end brings me great sadness and emotion few shows have ever been able to achieve. I will ever forget this show, these characters, and the excellent stories this great writing staff has been able to tell over the years.

All any of us can hope for and know is... regardless of what he says - we see Hugh Laurie on all our television screens sooner rather than later, everybody lies, and it's never lupus.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That was absolutely perfect. I could not have imagined a more perfect finale to one of the best shows in TV history. I will miss this show more than I can say.

House, you clever bastard... Faking your own death was genius, especially coming on the heels of the Sherlock finale (I can't be the only person who thought of The Reichenbach Fall). I guess in five months House will pull the plug just like he'd do to Thirteen (I regret that we didn't see him kill Thirteen, oh well); but that's not important.

Many fans (myself included) thought Cuddy should've been involved to some degree; at least show up at the "funeral". But if Cuddy was in this episode, it would be missing the point. She was no longer needed. This entire series wasn't about House and Cuddy: It was about House and Wilson. Even if they aren't gay (they are about as close to being gay as they can get without actually being it), they are truly soulmates. They deserve each other, and it's wonderful that they got each other.

Loved all the guest stars. Cameron, Kutner, Stacy, Dr. Nolan, Amber, Masters, etc. They really enhanced the whole "end-of-series" experience.

The final mystery wasn't all that interesting, but James LeGros was good (he was excellent in Scotland, PA). So, in the entire run (correct me if I'm wrong, SpoilerTV readers), it was never lupus? Shame.

That's about all I can think of.

the first hour was ok how big and close this unique series family is but the second part P.E.R.F.E.C.T all character had there time to continue with there lives and finally house make his point in move foward  in his own time frame what better way to do it with WILSON together ridding a bike follow the road sharing new memories and adventures. this episode was over the top for the word A..W..E..S..O..M..E

  21. Agreed completely. Don't really understand why you'd watch it and expect to like it.

  23. Road Trip!!!! I always loved when House & Wilson went on their road trip!

The first hour was nice,i always enjoy watching the BTS stuff,i found it interesting.

I didn't think the second half was awesome, but it was very good.It was great seeing everyone, okay not Cuddy but i didn't expect to see Amber, that was a surprise!

Yes House faked his death, but for a reason, for Wilson. House finally understood and did this for his friend..being there for Wilson to the end..

House,Wilson, may your road trip be fulfilling, and may it never end! Thank you for a wonderful ride!

  24. This was the House episode i have been waiting for!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't get what all these people who jumped back in for the finale were even thinking. Though it is a procedural, House has always had a fairly strong serial aspect to it. The finale was part of a larger arc, both in the sense of the final few episodes/Wilson's cancer, and in the sense of House's journey as a whole over 8 seasons.
You can't expect to watch one episode of any serial out of context and expect to be able to appreciate it.

My motto in debating tv with others is always 'I respect the opinions of all those who take the time to watch and the passion of all those who take the time to care.' All opinions are valid if they're informed by knowledge of the relevant context. If you didn't take the time to watch the show, meaning the relevant setup to this episode, then your opinion is uninformed, and I don't really see how you feel you can accurately judge the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  26. As shaky as the past couple of seasons were, that was PERFECT! The ending with House and Wilson riding off together was the exact way it should have ended. No complaints at all. I'll miss this show more than I ever thought I would.

    ReplyDelete
  27. no there was one case of lupis... it was the one with the magician....

    ReplyDelete
  28. I could not have thought of a more perfect ending, Love House and Wilson riding off together in the sun.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was so about to say that XD

    ReplyDelete
  30. These long comments are really lovely. Touching and with a beautiful sense of depth, reminds me why it's so nice to share one's thoughts, because, reading others makes them worthwhile.

But, anywho, I love what you said about the show being about House and Wilson. It's striking and wonderful, and something I wouldn't have actively believed to be as true as it sounds. But it is, to my eyes at least, and I've always loved those two too.

Although I still would have loved to see them ride off on the same motorcycle ;) XD

    ReplyDelete
  31. I so very much love what you have written as well.

Did anyone else have a flashback to 5x04 when Wilson was up talking at the funeral? And was it just me who wanted him to fling something at a window? Maybe? XD
I thought he was going to start crying, honestly, but for him to get angry and start saying instead what everybody KNEW was really true - and they looked oh so embarrassed! - was fantastic! So very in character for him, I think! I also feel if House had really been dead he'd have been a bit proud of such a Wilson act XD

It's strange how it has all come to this one, uniformed end, yet, we can all look back again and re-watch to our own delight. Beauty of television I suppose, but there's nothing quite like that first, raw experience.

Also, if you don't mind, I'm interested in tossing the thought ball back and forth. Do you really think that House was aiming to kill himself or do you think he had this fake dying plan all along?

    ReplyDelete
  32. an ending fitting for greg house

he lied about alot he faked his own death loved the old faces that came back to talk him out of it and it showed everybody will allways have a soft spot for him no matter how bad he made them feel
thankyou hugh laurie and co for 8 wonderfull *argueably* years on and off one thing stuck the same and that was it was house he never stopped making us laugh he never stopped surprising us with what he did and what he could do
goodbye house i think the die hard fans will allways miss you

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really think that he had planned to fake his death all along. Mainly because if he was indeed trying to kill himself, why make the attempt to escape out the front door like he did.

I really firmly believe he wanted to kill himself throughout the 40mins of the episode. And then, at the point where he got up and tried to escape, he realized absolutely nothing was more important than him spending the next 5months with Wilson and Wilson spending the next 5moths with House. That trumped everything else.

On top of that, I think the "images" of all the people in House's life that moved on ( Kutner, Cameron, Stacy, Amber ) made him realize his life is worth living and he's a great man many people love.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you for the kind words. It is good to share your thoughts.

And about the motorcycle, that would've been great; but remember the good doctor's immortal words: "You can't always get what you want."

    ReplyDelete
  35. Simply perfection.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I disagree. House didn't get what he wanted. If House got what he wanted Wilson would be doing chemo, someone would have taken the wrap for the prank, and he would still have his life. However, he did get what he needed, which is to make Wilson happy and enjoy the time they have left even if he had to throw away everything else to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. But if you try sometimes you get what you need...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think fooling the audience was ultimately the goal.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I liked it but I think a happy ending doesn't add up with the rest of the show. We'll definitley miss it

    ReplyDelete
  40. I liked it but i don't think the happy ending is all that faithfull to the place where the sow was allways headed. We'll definitley miss it though

    ReplyDelete
  41. I never got to know why kutner killed himself!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The was a complete mess of an episode.
The pacing was all over the place.
The dreams, flashbacks and etc... Just confusing with little to no purpose.
And what are we to believe?
House actually saved his patient, switched dental records, then killed the guy to cover up his own death.
    WHAT?
    A mess.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wouldn't call that a happy ending exactly. David Shore's description of bittersweet is more like it. Almost everyone thinks House is dead, Wilson is still dying, and House has destroyed his life. It ended on a happy moment, but the grim reality of their futures was still very present.

    ReplyDelete
  44. That was kind of the whole point of having Kutner commit suicide.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wow, your lack of understanding anything that happened in that episode is rather impressive, bravo!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Then please, enlightened sir, explain to us exactly why House was in the building with the patient, why the patient was dead, why the warehouse was on fire, and how House had enough time and knowledge of this guy's imminent death to switch his dental records....?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Amazing.  So much can be found in House faking his death.  Giving up what he truly loved and believed in ... the puzzle.  He gave that up to be with Wilson, to get away from his life, to try and get better by getting away from his life.

And in a way, like he said to the patient, by dying he made the world a better place.
By dying, Wilson could be the leader of the fellows.
By dying, the hospital wouldn't have to worry about him.
By dying, he allowed others to remember him better than he was, to learn from him in whatever way they chose to.

Awesome finale, loved it, will miss House even though it wasn't great sometimes, it still had some of the most compelling episodes and heartfelt scenes.  Glad it ended in a way I liked rather than trying something too unexpected.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Loved it as a hardcore fan of the first 3 seasons and an occasional viewer of the later seasons. Love that House faked his death to be with Wilson for the remaining 5 months he had to live. I also love the role that Cameron, who was always my favorite duckling, played in this episode & that she got to have a happy ending for herself away from PPTH & Chase.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nice work guys! thanks a lot for this series finale! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I always tried to envision how they could end House over the years, and this sort of fit the only scenario I could come up with (him dying being the only other option). Especially since his prison sentence was hanging over him, he would have to go on the run (again) or fake his death.

My ONLY disappointment from the finale is... not seeing each of the characters eventually find out he is still alive. I liked how they wrapped up practically ever loose end they could from it, and brought back so many of the characters they had written out over the years.

The end was fitting, and the song was perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It reminded me a bit of the Lost finale. Not the "unresolved" issues exactly, more like the episode leaving you with an unpleasant pit in your stomache because it was emotionally unrelatable, if also weirdly touching at the same time. I didn't hate it, I even thought it was good, I just don't feel that I've reached the end of a wonderful journey, I feel like I've been upset BY the journey.

It's also a good example of why I don't like what this show turned into. At one point, as serious as his issues actually were, it was treated with acerbic irreverence. It mocked sentimenality, and that's why I loved it. It was unapologetically behind a total jerk-ass, and it didn't feel the need to punish him for being one.

And post-Broken, every major story beat on this show felt like a punishment for House.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Are none of you guys considering he didn't escape after all? I'm leaning toward thinking he died, that Wilson just came up with a story  to comfort himself (consciously or not) in his final days. The only thing that doesn't quite add up is the text he got. But it didn't look like he could escape after that thing fell so close to him and being surrounded in flame. He made it out without any noticeable injury. I have a hard time buying it.

    ReplyDelete
  53.  I haven't watched House in a few years but I wanted to see what they did with the last show.  I used to love it.  The show took a few turns over the years that I didn't like so I stopped being a regular viewer.  I only watched some of Hugh Laurie's home movie/show tribute because I prefer not to see "the man behind the curtain".  I takes the magic away.   When we see House wake up I thought, Oh no it was all a dream!  I would have liked to see Andre Braugher included with those who visit him to talk about his ultimate decision.  He was wonderful as the psychiatrist.  Some very tender and poignant moments when House is in the psych ward.  They humanized House-he wasn't just a genius doctor but a vulnerable and caring man.  They had me going with the fire and the huge explosion.  The funeral scene was great when Wilson finally talked about the real House.  I loved the Louis Prima song at the end.  Thank you for a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Everybody lies! he said. I faked my own death! he said. :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree with all of that! One thing though; It was just Adams and Park working for Chase now. It looks like Taub quit his job to be with his family. He was only there because House was his boss! It's perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  56. As perfectly bittersweet as you could ask for. It leaves the world still ongoing, with obvious hurdles in the future, but a Greg House who truly knows he wants to live, and that he wants to spend Wilson's final few months in happiness rather than darkness.

Top, top stuff! Sad its ended, but happy with the way it did. Also I found Cuddy's absence fittingly avoided, and in many ways when he drove into her house that character was severed from his life, so it worked that she wasn't there.

    A+

    ReplyDelete
  57. The thing I loved most about this finale is how they didn't tie it all up, but rather just show where the characters went right after. I expected Chase to take over, was expecting them to throw in a Chase/Adams romance in at the end, glad they didn't, would have felt rushed. Happy to see Taub being a better parent, due in part to House.

    ReplyDelete
  58. But...what if House DID die?!

I know it might seem unlikely, but if you think about it... You saw the ceiling fall down on him, you saw the explosion. Could he really have made it out of that?
And, if you take a look at the scene where he's sitting outside, on the steps, you'll see there is no cane ANYWHERE near him!
Maybe he's really just a figment of Wilson's imagination?!
I sure hope not, but what if? What if?!

    ReplyDelete
  59.  Nicely said!

    ReplyDelete
  60. At first I didn't like the ending but after thinking about it it wasn't so bad.

I really wanted/expected House to die - I was expecting that to be the ending since very early on.

I am very glad that the focus was more on the older characters opposed to the new one's like Park and Adams.

Absolutely loved seeing Kutner, Amber and Cameron again - they are 3 of my favourite characters.

A little disappointed that when we got to see where so many of the main characters ended up they didn't show Thirteen.

Cameron all happy with a new man and a baby was a little weird - it was only 2 years ago(or was it 3 - I am confused by the timeline from when House went to jail) when she said she was so damaged that her marriage to Chase could have never worked. But I am glad she got a happy ending.

Chase taking over from House was great - with Taub, Adams and Park as his team and Foreman still the dean :)

I thought House hallucinating Kutner and Amber was a given and Cameron and Stacy too as they played huge roles in his life and I've always thought Cameron was his favourite of all his team members but I don't see why he would hallucinate Cameron and Stacy and not Cuddy - I know Lisa didn't want to return or what ever but yeah it felt odd.

    ReplyDelete
  61. With House saying he escaped through the back door. I guess the identity of whoever was at the front door is going to remain a mystery. Seems a little too strange and knocked down the rating I would have given the show.  And your right he didn't have a cane when he was sitting on the steps.

    ReplyDelete
  62. House was doing heroin with his heroin addicted patient for two days (that's why he was unconscious at first and hallucinating throughout the episode). We can assume the guy died from the heroin rather than being murdered by House since House didn't even know the guy was dead when he saw him. They didn't explain why the building was on fire, but since House didn't know why or even that it was on fire initially, the safe bet is that he didn't intentionally set it hoping to fake his own death. Plus, the unmissable fact that he was trying to kill himself throughout most of the episode puts another huge kink in that theory. The only thing that takes a bit of effort to accept is that he managed to switch the guy's dental records, but he was his doctor and could have had the records already. One thing I will not miss about this show is explaining it to people like you.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That occurred
to me too for a second, but then if you watch him get on the motorcycle he's still limping. And then who put his ID tag under Foreman's table? Wilson and Foreman couldn't both be in lala land.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I really liked the episode! I always thought that the best ending for House would be his death but he died only for the rest of the world and not for Wilson and this was a beautiful thing that House did!

I loved everything and I will miss this amazingo show!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Two thumbs up for 'The Final Problem'.

A fitting solution. After numerous adaptations, reimaginings and so forth I finally get to see Holmes and Watson spend the rest of their life together.

    Sort of.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I thought it was the perfect and most fitting way to end the show.  Hugh Laurie always said that the  characters in tv shows never change.  He was right.  House ended the show as a jerk.  thinking about himself.  he wanted to be with Wilson while he was dying.  he avoided the consequences, AGAIN, for his destructive actions, and he proved once again that "Everybody Lies", including himself!   I LOVED this ep.  but in the end, everybody else's lives were better for their time spend at PPTH w/ House.  They moved on.  found happiness and success.  and House found a little bit more joy with the only lasting friendship/relationship that he ever chose, Wilson.  GREAT GREAT GREAT

    ReplyDelete
  67. I thought it was perfect.  I was dreading this because I hate it when shows end really sad.  But this was good.  I think it's a cop out when shows kill off the characters rather than show some real growth.  This ending was still realistic - Wilson's still dying and people still have issues - but House's emotional journey meant something, and we didn't have to watch Wilson die.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The producers/creators of House have never been very secretive about House being a "modern day Holmes". Sherlock Holmes, as i'm sure you are aware, faked his death as well.

    ReplyDelete
  69. They show a close-up of him standing near the front door. Not a mystery. This isn't that hard. A single beam fell in front of him, he ran in the opposite direction, the explosion was in the front of the building, which allowing him to still survive leaving through the back.

    ReplyDelete
  70. He lost his cane when the floor collapsed. You can see it's still lying there when House falls.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Couldn't agree with you more.

    ReplyDelete
  72. After falling through a ceiling on his bad leg I'm surprised he was physically able to stand. (the pain may have been masked by the drugs I guess) I'm sorry but I just can't see him being able to run.

    ReplyDelete
  73.  That's exactly what I was thinking, that it was a very Sherlock Holmes thing to do.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The episode as a whole was a little cheesy, with everyone (well, everyone except Cuddy) coming back for House to hallucinate them, but I really liked the very end.  You can always expect a twist on House.  Faking his own death was a very House thing to do, so it was a perfect ending.   I kind of saw it coming, not just because I was expecting a twist, but also because earlier in the day, I was talking about the part in Tom Sawyer where he attends his own funeral when everyone thinks he's dead.  So, I thought of that when I was watching House.

    ReplyDelete
  75. He didn't necessarily have to run, just hobble quickly. He could still walk after he fell, so he wasn't hurt that badly. Pain is what prevents him from walking normally, and I'm pretty sure a huge flaming beam falling right in front of your face is a pretty good adrenaline-based pain killer, not to mention the heroin. I don't get why many need to pretend something else happened without being given a reason. With what they showed us he could have gotten out, and they didn't show us anything to the contrary. Therefore... he got out. By the way, just read Shore's interview with TV Line and it didn't sound like there was any intent for a conspiracy.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Absoloutely loved the episode, loved how House finally 'changed' by sacrificing his own medical career to spend his final days with Wilson. Loved how the ending, fit the message the entire series tried to deliver.

  77.  Not bad.  I'm just disappointed I'll never get to see House pop-in on all of these people when he's supposed to be dead.  You know he won't be able to resist.

  81. No, I wrote it where I wanted to write it. The episode was awful. And I've been watching this show for 4 years (I even watched the first 4 season in a couple of days before S5 premiered).

  82. Also in Wilson's eulogy I loved the callback to the episode "The Social Contract," and the concept that House and Wilson are so honest with each other, and are beyond the regular niceties. Everyone else gives the standard, expected 'underneath it all he was good and I loved him,' then Wilson steps up and delivers the unadulterated truth about his best friend. I thought that was a really great touch.

  84. At least you're succinct in your ridiculousness. The only ways I can figure a fan of the show would think that finale was awful would be if they only liked the procedural medical mystery aspect of the show and were not at all interested in the serial/character stuff, or they're simply too daft to understand the episode. I see how those people could enjoy the show to some degree, but calling them fans might be pressing it.

  85. Maybe you need to grow up and understand that people have different opinions. Seriously, you've been making snide remarks left and right. This wasn't some sort of genius complex mind blowing episode. It was rushed, badly written and full of holes.

  86. I understand that people have different opinions and that was my attempt at goading formerlostfan into giving his/hers because I'm curious if they're in a third category I haven't thought of. My way was more fun than just asking. There were no holes, at least none that needed to be spelled out because they're easily filled by some simple obvious assumptions. That puts you in the "didn't understand it" camp.

  87. House faked his own death to be with Wilson for his last few months! Shades of Sherlock Holmes! I loved this series. I am sad it is over.

  88. I'll try this again and word it differently. I thought I'd give the show a top rating. It looked like House was actually going to die. Then he's suddenly alive again because of escaping through the back door. To me this was sloppy writing and the reason I didn't vote as high in the poll.  I wasn't serious about there being another person at the front door.

  89. Assuming that sloppy means the same as not believable. What makes it sloppy? We didn't see the explosion from the inside. We didn't see how fast House was capable of moving. We didn't see the back of the building. It was intentionally left ambiguous, yet plausible either way, to allow the audience to believe House is dead. Clearly showing that he could have escaped would have ruined everything that came after. That would have been sloppy writing. The only other option would be to have House recount exactly what happened, but those details were unnecessary to the story, again, that'd be sloppy.

  90. Even if the season 8 was not as good as the other (IMHO) I'm gonna miss the show. Apart from LE missing, the finale was great. I'm glad they bring everyone back and that we got to see Cameron with her family :) and for the people saying House faking his own death is not House-like, tell me one time he didn't pull a prank on somebody?

  91.  Yes but wouldn't it be the happiest scenario possible considering the last events? Wilson suffering for a few more years doesn't look like a happy option, and from his entire world Wilson was the only person House really cared about so I don't see him suffering so much in a tropical beach somewhere.
I'm sorry we could agree to disagree but I just expected it to be a little more bitter than bittersweet.

  92. I know, I just would have loved to find out. I'm a very curious person

  93. The show wasn't aboout Cameron. Kutner, Stacy or Amber either, but they got to be in the finale. Wanting Cuddy in the finale was not wanting "huddy", but a return of a pivotal character in the series. It really is a shame she wasn't present.................

  94. This was a good ending. I'm sad thinking this TV series will disappear from this board soon.
What will all those people do now ?
I thank them all for the pleasure I've had all those years following this show.

  95. There are many ways they could have made it happier, if it was a lesser show. They didn't have to have House ruin his life to be with Wilson. They could have let someone take the blame for the prank, or even just have a judge throw it out. Hell, they could have had House find some obscure treatment to save Wilson or find out he doesn't have cancer afterall. It's TV, they could have done anything. I also don't see House's life without Wilson or medicine very promising. Wilson is his conscience, he'll have a harder time getting Vicodin, and his medical puzzles are like air to him. House without the three most important things in his life is going to be rough. I expected it to be more bitter as well, but I'm glad they found a way to embrace the darker side of the show, yet still leave us with the pleasant thought of House and Wilson being together. You mentioned you didn't think it was "faithful to the place the show was always headed," except with this ending they're still headed in that direction, it just ended before they got there.

  96. I agree; very nice end of House. I like everything in this episode, and this serie will stay one of my favorite show of tv!
Thanks a lot for everything! actor, producers, crew...and all the fans! thanks also to spoilertv :-) We miss House and dont forget him. :-)

  97. It was just perfect, I follow the series since the 1st season and could not have expected a better ending.
If Wilson wanted to hear the House that he loved him, he had more than words, because what the House did to be with him in his last months of life was worth a thousand words.

As House always said actions speak louder than words.

  98. True, i guess that the problem is that no one could've found an ending I find completley satisfying, after all this show has been with us so many years. Like nothing could do it justice for me, nothing would be epic enough to resume it.

  102. Right, how immature of me to enjoy discussion. Can't help but notice how you adults haven't even attempted to counter any points I've made and instead just resort to unsupported assertions and lame insults.

  103. It ended true to itself, gave the audience a great ride and was definitive to a point but left plenty to the imagaination of what they do next.  Everything a great awsome fantastic ending should be.  Even left hope that House had really changed and given up his god complex in that last minute fire scene when he gets up.  I can see either Wilson making a miraculous recovery finding or House assuming Wilson's doctor's identiy and doing good or a thousand other satisfying scenario's.

  104. They're saving that up for the movie ;-P

  105. It was trully fantastic! A perfect ending to an (overall and most of the time) perfect show.
I was actually expecting the episode to be less "finale-ish" and "event-y" so that was a bit of a surprise, but it was a great episode and I'm very satisfied as a long term commited viewer of this show.

My one complaint (and I don't want it to take away from how good the episode was) was LE/Cuddy not being present.
I don't think I would have minded so much if it was that pretty much EVERYBODY else showed up except for her. It really underlined her absence... The shout out was nice and I guess I can "explai/excuse" it by saying it was still fresh and Greg did screw that one up way to much to be able to deal with it in his mind and tap into it (being in some sort of a denial), and I get why she might have not showed up at the funeral seeing as things ended, but still... I missed her.

    On to my favourite bits:
    - Chase taking over the department! I've been waiting for this since S3... He's totally 100% earned it. Everyone thought Foreman was going to turn out like House, but as seasons and years went by it was clear Robert was the real apprentise/sucessor, and I'm so so happy for him! He's gonna kick ass!
    - House/Wilson riding off in the sunset!
    - "Cancer is boring": Best Final Live EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
