Good episode, loved how nervous Howard was during the launch. The wedding was hysterically funny, Amy had me rolling with her line about Howard & Bernie's marriage failing. She had me laughing the entire episode. Aw, the end with the handholding it was lovely.
I kind of loved how they showed the events leading up to the wedding as a flashback. That was fun. And I'm glad they kept Howard's mom a mystery - her voice is all we need! The wedding itself was priceless - very fitting for the people involved haha.. of course it wouldn't just go smoothly! Howard was so sweet in this episode I didn't know what to do... and I have to admit, a small part of me was waiting for the rocket to blow up before the screen blacking out to the credits. That would have been crazy!
I really do not like the direction the show has taken this season. The insistance of keeping Penny and Leonard together just goes to show that the writers have no idea what to do with Penny's character. All her good one liners have been split between Amy and Bernadette. Where is the magic that was her constant fighting with Sheldon, the eye-sex alone between those two had more passion than any awkward scene between her and Leonard. I agree these characters have to grow up, but since when did this show just become about relationships? What about a trip to comic-con? a Star Trek Convetion? anything geeky, what we came to love the show for, has been lost to writers insistent on recreating "Friends" (which can never be done). These are fantastic characters that deserve better.
Whilst I agree that the show has strayed from their premise, I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing myself. Although I too believe that Penny deserves a storyline of her own next season, maybe finally "making it" in hollywood (in a tv cult series that would be funny) But I don't mind the show becoming about relationships.
But seriously, the "eye-sex between Sheldon and Penny"? seriously?
I love the idea of Penny becoming a celebrity on a small cult TV show. It would allow them to let her get a job, burn bright, and (if they decide) go back to not getting acting jobs. (I've seen that happen to several actors on small shows...especially back before cable got into the game and the shows were first run syndication.)
Yeah! It would be really awesome that Penny became sort of an in universe Summer Glau with Firefly. It would work in so many levels; it would put geekdom in the forefront again and It would change the dynamic between all characters. Could you imagine Sheldon envying and/or admiring her? And how would Leonard react to Penny having a cesspool of fans behind her? When I got really into the show, circa season 2, I really though that could happen :D
Not sure what would be better for her to land a short lived project or actually making it big and that puts the strain between her and Leonard and the rest of the guys.
Lol. I was expecting for the rocket to blow as well, but I never thought they can conjure up such a thing since it's a comedy show and not intense drama show or something, but if it did happened, it would have been pretty intense.
I hadn't even considered that a super sci fi type show would garner Sheldon as a fan. That would be hysterical.
I think having her make it main stream big would move her too far out of the guys orbit. But a hot, short-lived genre success might move her on more equal footing with the guys and allow her to take some steps forward but not too many. The guys are all relatively successful in their fields, it would be nice to see Penny take a few steps forward.
A burst success would definitely keep her around the guys in the long run. I cold totally see her doing a short lived cult series and then just living out of conferences and book deals :D
The show was awesome ....congrats to Howard and Bernadette.....wedding bells and soon to come preganancy that will be a riot!!Lissie_Bee Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sheldon will probably deliver the baby and that would be a great show too! The gang marrying their friends on the roof top was perfect! The vows were excellent...poor Raj crying LOLOL he is so cute.....time to work on his character writers. The hand holding scene choked me up on so many levels......I agree about not losing the geekiness which is what we love...and please don't even think that show could become Friends.....these BBT people are brilliant and normal looking and sweet.......with real thoughts and fears ....Friends was a conglomerate of beautiful people and thats about it.(sorry I never liked Friends..don't get mad fans) Sheldon grabbing Amys hand was BEAUTIFUL...did you see her face !!!!!!!!!!!!! Priceless.....now as far as Penny and Leonard go.........I really am rooting for them...they really love each other...opposites attract...It would be cool if she did get a job in TV maybe as a hostess on an Entertainment show...imagine the trouble that would ensue if she started interviewing Shatner Nimoy etc etc....Sheldon would be pulling Lucy Ricardo stunts to get into the studio to meet his idols....dragging poor Leonard (Ethel Mertz) with him.................whatever the writers do....ahh we can dream. At any rate the show is the best see you in the fall. Have a great summer BBT fans.
I loved it! The hand holding was adorable, and the wedding was sweet. Amy continues to remain my favorite character.
However, Leonard annoyed me with the line about respect. Are you kidding me? He's the one who doesn't respect any of the women he dates. I hope he and Penny break up soon.
i did expect some sort of cliffhanger... either way, was a fun episode, but nothing out of the ordinary. I do think that Penny storyline would be awesome next season
I do agree that Penny should get some sort of success with her career, instead of just going in circles at the restaurant. It would give her character some growth.
I really enjoyed the episode and looking forward to next season. The wedding was really nice, and Amy stole the show as usual. She has quickly become my favourite character.
I thought it was a really great funny yet quiet episode. I liked that. I'm so used to the show being quite "out there" that something a little more "traditional was a very pleasant change. I also like the retroperspective aspect of the episode. It really work with the story.
The prelaunch scenes were so much FUN! Bernie and Howard were adorable! And their parents amazingly funny! Amy was a hoot with her dress and her tiara. Raj cracked me up (especially during the city hall scenes) Leonard and Penny were uncomforable but in an amusing way, which I really did enjoy. And Sheldon was great. As always.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

What surprised me the most, was the fact that it was Sheldon who took Amy's hand in the end.
ReplyDeleteI loved the wedding and that last scene. The launch conversation was really funny. I really enjoyed the ep.

ReplyDeleteSo...., There was no cliffhanger or anything. I guess this was pretty mellowed out season finale.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even considered that a super sci fi type show would garner Sheldon as a fan. That would be hysterical.

She should get a part in some tv series where she plays a brilliant scientist or something :D I'd love the irony :D

ReplyDeletei think she could be in some sort of costume in some sci fi series. so that sheldon would become a fan without recognising her.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that Penny should get some sort of success with her career, instead of just going in circles at the restaurant. It would give her character some growth.
ReplyDeleteI guess that was the cliffhanger: Sheldon is becoming more like a human being... haha
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the episode and looking forward to next season. The wedding was really nice, and Amy stole the show as usual. She has quickly become my favourite character.
ReplyDeleteThis season was awful. But I did find it funny that Howard gave the guys a 1965 FF Annual and I was just reading that the day before. Weird.

Good finale!
