Based on the Dutch format, Penoza centers on the widow of an assassinated criminal who is forced to adopt her husband’s role in an organized crime syndicate in order to protect her family.
Red Man Van: Based on the British format, the show centers on a man who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father. VIA Deadline

    Hum, the description of Penoza should say "based on the Dutch format itself based on the French format", because I could swear this is the synopsis of the first season of Mafiosa, created in 2006 (except that in Mafiosa, Sandra's uncle is assassinated, not her husband).

    I like the ambition, but this type of show will not work on ABC, this kind of premise is better suited for cable.

    "Meh" on both. They're both show's I'll eventually check out, but nothing I'm particularly looking forward to. (as I do every year though, crossing my fingers Kyle will get a hit show this time around)
