It's only been four episodes, but I'm not really surprised. Sundays at 10pm isn't really a great time slot to begin with. I wish they had waited a few more weeks, though, to give this show more than four episodes to pick up. Who knows. Maybe the show will gain more viewers and it'll be too late. That's the thing with midseason shows; there's only a certain amount of episodes before a network decides if they want to pick it up for a second season and it has to be a hit and do well in ratings from the get go.
CBS had no intention of renewing this show, they aired it where they did because they were already convinced it would do poorly but had already committed to the order.
That's interesting - how did they come to that conclusion? I'm so curious about how things happen behind the scenes; like, I know it's easy to blame "the suits" for cancellation or such, but sometimes you get a chance to read the production notes years later, or find out information about behind the scenes difficulties (re. with Angel the Series) and you realise that the 'suits' are actually pretty perceptive sometimes.
I blame Sobieski myself - the minute I saw her in the credits I thought "Ugh, not her". Is it too early to call her a show-killer?
Yup. I only watched the first two episodes and I just shook my head. My favourite was the Molotov cocktail blowing the place up like a meth lab just exploded. And poor Stark Sands being saddled with some awful dialogue about wanting to bang the gang-banger's sister. I like Stark Sands. He needs a new agent.
No surprise. The show is a mess with too many characters and unrealistic plots.
Betcha CBS regrets dropping Steven Bochco's "Brooklyn South" a decade ago. Now there was a classy, well done NYPD uniformed cop show that launched several top stars, including Dylan Walsh and Adam Rodriguez. Hint, hint, CBS: Bring it back!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
No surprise. Now everybody go watch Rookie Blue!!
ReplyDeleteI would have been shocked if it was renewed!

ReplyDeleteI only watched a little of it and felt like it was a poor imitation of rookie blue.
