NBC is planning on launching new comedies The New Normal and Save Me in August after the Olympics along with Grimm season 2 and new Mathew Perry comedy Go On. While they haven't officially been ordered to series yet they have begun staffing and preparing for an August launch.
Save Me, from writer John Scott Shepherd, Sony Pictures TV and Neal Moritz’s studio-based Original Films, centers on Beth Harper (Heche) who, after an accident, starts to believe she is channeling God. While the project has not received a series pickup yet, informal staffing efforts are underway so it could go into production early if needed. The 20th TV-produced New Normal, also not formally greenlighted yet, has been given permission to begin staffing. The New Normal, co-written by Murphy and Adler and directed by Murphy, is described as a heartwarming comedy about a blended family of a gay couple, Bryan (Andrew Rannells) and David (Justin Bartha), and a cash-strapped waitress and mother of one Goldie (Georgia King), who becomes a surrogate to help them have a child. Co-starring in the project is Ellen Barkin as Goldie’s glamorous/bigoted grandmother.

Interesting, I guess NBC has to take these kind of risks with the state it is in, actually looking forward to seeing whether it works
ReplyDeleteI dont think they are good, work that is another question. I love how NBC is destorying themself even more and more year for year. And i love or like some of the shows they have like Awake, Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock and yet somehow the The Voice and SNL.
ReplyDeleteFirst it was keeping on The Office without Carrell. Bad move, it`s just on because of some few more viewers than the rest of the comedys during thursdays on NBC. Then it was Whitney and Are You There Chelsea? while benching Community. Wtf? Community had decent ratings for being NBC 2011-2012, it`s just that it was placed in the wrong time. And now? Well, everything with Ryan Murphy gets picked up because of Glee. It`s like if its a project about gay people with Murphy involved it will end up as series. Murphy is starting to be the new Jerry Bruckheimer of TV. Also again with this insert gay people-stuff. Save Me also just seem to ride on the Enlightened-train for me. It dont belive the script is so good for the pilot than NBC brass brags about after reading the scirpt.
Oh, NBC, you really need some young blood to come and shake things up and get you back on the right track.
