How I Met Your Mother - Season 7 - Cobie Smulders Interview - Talks about season finale

Can you give us any clues about the upcoming season finale of How I Met Your Mother?

I can't really reveal much, but I can say that it's going to be a big episode. And it's a big reveal.

Will it be a big shocker?

I don't know if it'll be a shocker. But our writers are so good at what they do. They've just figured out a great ending to tie it all together. I think people will be pretty happy.

I love your character's pop-star alter ego, Robin Sparkles. Will we get to see any more from her?

I hope so! We're going into our last season, and I feel like they're going to bring her back somehow. But I don't know how they're going to do it. I don't think they can just discover another video accidentally online. So I think they're going to have to come up with some really inventive way to find another video -- or maybe do a performance now.

The characters on the show are all so different. Which actor do you think is most like the character they play?

I would say Alyson (Hannigan) now because she is actually pregnant. So she's probably literally the closest to how her character is.

  1. I am 1000% convinced the Bride is Robin. Still freaked out about the reveal, though, which is weird.

Gah, only two more weeks left!

  2. Can't wait for the finale.  Though I thought Cobie let the cat out of the bag in another recent interview hinting she was the bride. As if we didn't know - but still.....

And did I miss something?  She just said "going into our last season" - is season 8 definitely it?  I love the show (favourite sitcom ever!) but I think the quality is starting to suffer as they drag out the series end game. But didn't think  final season was offical yet?

  3. Most signifigant thing she saud is of course that they are going into their last season

  4. I was surprised by the "last season" comment as well. I can't say I'm that broken up about it, because as you said, the quality has suffered recently. They seem to have ignored the main question of the entire show this season, and while I understand that we have to make it to Barney's wedding in order for Ted to meet the mother, it's fallen a little flat. Still, I wasn't aware they decided that the 8th season would be the last.

  5. She did say that. And I, for one, think it would be great if they went into the 8th season knowing it is their last. They could really focus on telling tight stories that bring it to the the finish. I'm a fan of the show but the last several seasons have been inconsistent. You get some good eps and some bad ones and the occasional awesome one. I think it's time to wrap it up.

  6.  Amen.  The fact that they've stretched this series too thin has been reflected in the quality of the show for the last two seasons at least.
