I just hope they don't ruin it. BBC's version of modern Sherlock is absolutely fantastic though some similarities could be drawn it seems a different show.
I have high hopes hope they don't try to do something silly with the show and ruin it like FOX did with The Finder.
Why are people so irritated by this show? I'm telling you, if it's anyhow good and funny and clever - people will watch it. In the U.S. nobody gives a damn thing about BBC Sherlock. People who actually contribute to the ratings don't even suspect there is that BBC version of it. And besides, BBC Sherlock had how many episodes made? Six? 'Elementary' will surpass that number in just a couple of months.
I'm definitely watching this,i like Johnny Lee Miller a lot and i've come to like Lucy from when she was on Southland..I do not expect it to compete with THE Sherlock, really how could it? Its worth an hour or two to find out..for me anyway!
Your wrong about the people in the U.S. not giving a damn about the BBC/PBS version of Sherlock. And we people who do contribute to the ratings are well aware that there is a BBC/PBS version..For you to think we don't is pretty short sighted, and just because Elementary might ( yes might, its not a hit yet ) surpass that number doesn't mean much, its the quality not quantity of the work that is put into the series. I hope it does well,i love Johnny Lee Miller, and i like Lucy since her stint on Southland.
It definitely looks more promising than the preview. I'm gonna watch the pilot episode. I like Lucy Liu as Watson but I'm not so sure about Sherlock played by Miller...
I'm a Jonny Lee Miller fan....his version of Sherlock Holmes, in this promo at least, is a complete turn off to me. I'll check out the pilot but I'm thinking I may not be watching this show past that.
exactly. if they had made this as just another series, I would have watched it. But since they are calling it a Sherlock Holmes adaptation, I can't watch it because this is NOT Sherlock Holmes.
Yep. Like someone mentioned, it feels closer to Monk than to Sherlock Holmes... I did like Monk, but I could have never watched it had it been called Holmes. XD
Hmmm, after watching this I don't get why they have the Sherlock tag to it, I think it would work as a series without it. For some, I think it's going to be too much for some viewers to get over, which is a shame.
Have to say, judging by this clip, I'm really looking forward to this. They're clerly piggy-backing off of the success of Cumberbach's Sherlock, but frankly, this trailer made me realise I don't care. It's different enough and has the potential to be really good.
I'm not to keen on this :/ I'll give it a go but I'm not expecting much The whole 2 glasses thing was a bit stupid if you ask me and lucy lu is already annoying me. . . another thing the BBC Sherlock never had to rely on showing of some male flesh to get people interested. . .they focus on the storyline and the characters not 'oh look at my six pack' Its of to a bad start...
I expect the show will be quite popular. There's still a big audience for sexism.
If Watson had been made, say, a black male (there are various black actors who could have played the part brilliantly), and then been shown in the trailer to have several illegitimite children (each by a different mother), whom he doesn't support because he's too lazy to work, there would have been a justifiable uproar about the ugly racism. But ACD's original brave war hero, successful doctor, and respected friend of Holmes turned into someone with no military background, a failure no longer licensed to practice medicine, someone who squeals and ducks away at the sight of a dead body, a paid employee forced on Holmes - well, CBS says that's a fine Watson so long as a female is cast in the part. CBS assumes the audience will accept that that's exactly what Watson would have been like with female reproductive organs and an Asian background. And CBS is probably right about the audience.
But why on earth would Lucy Liu take this sexist and racist part?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I still can't decide if I like it or not. Guess I have to watch some episodes XD
ReplyDeleteGetting more excited for this by the minute :D
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Monk
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome so far. I'm pretty excited about it, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteit looks good except i dont think i like the casting for watson
ReplyDeleteTime will tell, but to be honest I'm curious about this project.
ReplyDeleteWell they certainly know how to get people to make up their minds, shirtless Jonny Lee Miller, I'll definitely be watching now.
ReplyDeleteBloody brilliant :D

I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why networks keep the name if they want to change most everything about the project.
ReplyDeleteAs a quirky detective series this may have worked for me, but as Sherlock Holmes it does not... on any level.

ReplyDeleteThey definitely CBS-ified the character. I'll give it a look-see, if only for the solid casting.

ReplyDeleteDo you know term "Quality Over Quantity"?
ReplyDeleteOkay.... I think I'm a little more interetested now....
ReplyDeleteI think this looks good. Jonny Lee Miller is awesome and Lucy Liu was great on Southland, so I'm excited to see what she can bring to the table. :)
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks more promising than the preview. I'm gonna watch the pilot episode. I like Lucy Liu as Watson but I'm not so sure about Sherlock played by Miller...
ReplyDeleteModern Sherlock Holmes? I'm so in.

ReplyDeleteIt is great to hear Jonny Lee Miller use his real accent.
ReplyDeleteexactly. if they had made this as just another series, I would have watched it. But since they are calling it a Sherlock Holmes adaptation, I can't watch it because this is NOT Sherlock Holmes.
ReplyDeleteHorrible ripoff, you could watch BBC Sherlock instead.
ReplyDeleteYep.

lucy lui as watson? I think an orange pig just flew by my window. Wierd.

ReplyDeletelooks interesting!
ReplyDeleteEach to their own, but I think this show looks pretty dull.
ReplyDeleteRose would smell the same if we gave her another name? :)
