CW orders five dramas: Carrie Diaries, Arrow, Cult, First Cut, and Beauty and the Beast.

Arrow
Based on the DC Comics comic book, this hour long drama is a modern retelling of the legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow

Beauty and the Beast
Loosely based on the CBS’s Beauty and the Beast series from the 1980s, this is a modern day romantic love story with a procedural twist.

Cult
After a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, an inquisitive, young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show called “Cult” joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program, in real life.

First Cut
Glad to leave her nerdy past behind for a fresh start in the adult professional world, a newly minted doctor discovers that, sadly and comically, life at the hospital where she works is no different than high school.

The Carrie Diaries
Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, a young Carrie Bradshaw comes of age in the 1980s, asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.

    Arrow could be interesting if done right... Superhero shows are extremely hit or miss with me. Smallville was fun in its own way despite its faults and if Arrow can achieve that kind of quality I think it will be a good watch.

    CW's Beauty and the Beast sounds better than ABC's version for whatever that's worth.

    Cult sounds interesting to me. High concept generally doesn't do well on network TV and the CW is not known for executing high concept shows very well in my opinion. That said, I will be checking it out and have relatively high hopes.

    I'm a little surprised they did not try to capitalize on Hunger Games phenomena too! I guess the concept was better than the execution  maybe?

    Could be a decent improvement on Tuesday's and Thursday's if TCD and Arrow can get some traction.

    Despite it being advertised as such The Selection is nothing like The Hunger Games. I read the book and I think it is miles away from the quality of The Hunger Games and IMHO The Selection is not dystopian.

    Arrow and Cult i will probably watch B&tB will lose me on procedural, First Cut had a fun script but no medical series has kept me more than a few episodes, carrie doesnt really  interest me
    so most likely just Arrow and Cult for me

    You're probably right... 
    I have not read the book so I can't comment on it really. 

    I can say that every synopsis I read by people who had read the pilot script or reported on the pilot commented about the similarities to The Hunger Games. So I'm not sure it was just how the network shopped it.....

    Either way both of the books are just updated spins on "The Lottery" from the 1940's.

    Well now that they have renewed Nikita I will be wacthing Arrow .Hopefully this Is as good as Smallville.This Is probally why they picked It up to appeal to Smallville audence.Kristin Kreuk
    will make me check out beauty and the beast but they will need to have something to keep me from losing Intrest.The wo fat ongoing subplot Is what keeps me Intrested In hawaii Five-0.I lost all Intrest In hart of Dixie.Granted It Is still more Intresting than Gossip Girl(except for when Michelle Trachtenberg makes her appearances) or 90210.the original 1980's Beauty and the beast I actully liked.As a male I was an exception since It's fanbase was mostly women.The other CW shows don't show much Intrest to me.

    Could be, although Cult is more of the same genre as TVD and I see Arrow as more as a more fighting action packed - Nikita style in way. I guess we'll know soon... As long as HoD gets another chance!

     Arrow is their best (only?) real shot at a high rating in pilot season. Nothing on this network really compares to TVD in the ratings department, so I think that's the pair that's obvious, 100% going to happen.

    Cast list: Matthew Davis (Equal footing with the vampire diaries)
    whether that means because he's been filming it while TVD still aired or because he'll be doing both I dont know!

    - Cult and Arrow were very high on my list (from all the pilots for next season), so I'm happy for those two.
    - I was kinda game for The Selection so that's a bit of a shame IMO....
    - B&tB was on my radar but nothing I was terribly dying to see.
    - First Cut I didn't care too much about in the begining.... then the casting started and suddenly it became way more appealing
    - I'm 100% "Meh" for the Carie Daries.

    i'll try them all but the carrie diaries. was never interested in sex and the city so i'm not interested in this. and if justin hartley is going to be in first cut, that's enough for me to give it a shot, i'm just sad he's not in arrow.

    Oh boy, I really The CW is going to crash and burn this fall, I besides SPN and TVD (and I am not really sure about it now that Elena is a vampire, I'm seriously afraid she is going to fall in love with Tyler/Klaus and it will be a bad Twilight knock of or something, c'mon you saw last week's final scene).I am going to give Arrow 3 episodes to wow me and then I am done. None of these new shows sound appealing to me.  Looks my nights in the fall will be all freed up. I feel like era of appointment TV is dying a fast but painful death.

    So we know they didn't pick up The Selection or that there were no words about the show being picked up at some point, but what happen to Shelter ? Wasn't it supposed to be a pilot for the CW ? Just curious.
