SpoilerTV - TV Spoilers

Announcement - The Movie Section has moved

30 May 2012

Hey all,

As some of you know we had a separate Movies section here.

Due to various reasons we've decided to cease posting to that separate section and to merge any new posts here on the main SpoilerTV site.

Running 2 completely separate sites was sucking our time and resources in maintaining 2 sets of HTML, CSS, Javascripts as well as other items like Badgeville, Disqus, RSS and Twitter. By combining them over here on the main site means we can add new features to the site much quicker and more effectively.

FAQ
1) Will the existing Movies Twitter account still work just for movies.
Yes it will continue to work exactly as it does now. Any new movie posts will be tweeted out to the Movies Twitter account.

2) Will the existing Movies Facebook page still work just for movies.
Yes it will continue to work exactly as it does now. Any new movie posts will be posted to the Movies Facebook Page.

3) Will the main site be flooded with Movie News
No. We will only be posting major movie news from blockbuster movies. Things like new Trailers, Promotional Posters and Sneak Peeks. To put this into context.

- On SpoilerTV in just May alone we have posted 1650+ articles
- On the movie site in 5 months we have posted 150 articles.
- So that equates to about 1 post in every 50 will be movie related.

4) What happens to my Badgeville Movie Points.
We have successfully moved over your Movie Points and when you perform actions on Movie Posts you will get points towards your Movie Badges.

5) How do I access the Movies News
There are 2 methods.1) You can click on the Movies link in the Menu or 2) Click "Movies" from the "Select your Show" dropdown menu at the top of the sidebar.

  4.  Oh sure! In the movie section we had our names and how many points for the week we had, guess it was almost like the community column?Every Sunday morning it would get zeroed out and as we went through the week we gained points, badges and whoever had the highest at that moment was in first places,2nd highest,2place.so on an so on.

  5. I really like this. I don't usually think to check out the movie section. Now it will be right here in one place. Nice.

  6. Ah I see. let me see what we can do.

  7. As long as the site doesn't get flooded with a lot of movie news, which you guys have promised it doesn't then it's actually a good thing...Helps me keep up with movies as well

  8. Yep, that's what we wanted. People would not always remember to check the movie section :)

  9. Laura, you'll need to visit this page to see the similar stats

    http://www.spoilertv.com/p/badgeville-stats.html

The widget is too slow loading to display on the homepage so we have a special page just for that widget

  10.  That is just fine Andy,Thanks!

  11. I always forgot about the movies section so maybe now I will pay more attention to it :)

  12. Any chance of adding some sort of filter option to the main site for those who don't want the movie clutter?

    ReplyDelete
  13. YAY! I think this is great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, yay! I hope this means I can add some news if I want to.

  15. I can't get to the movie section from here where do i go now?

  16. I was surprised by the "We've moved" sign and I welcome the change. I found it a bit complicated to follow both the TV and the movie sections when one doesn't have much time (I usually forgot about the movie section and when I remembered it there was a lot of new stuff). I appreciate both of them and am glad that they are all at the same place now. Thanks!

  17. I used to forget about the movie section! I am happy with the change!

  18. Yeah, that really makes sense to me. I simply didn't visit the movies section because it was so isolated from my activity on the main STV site. Now it will be easier and I won't have to find the link to the main site, and I'll have it already logged into my badgeville account, etc. :)

  19. I think this is a great idea, maybe it will increase activity on those posts as well

  20. Great improvement! Will the movies section be added to STV+ then as well?

  21. Brandon Rowe Yes, it should be there now :)

  22. Bruce_F I'm afraid not. However to put into context the volume of posts.

On SpoilerTV in just May alone we have posted 1650+ articles

On the movie site in 5 months we have posted 150 articles.

So that equates to about 1 post in every 50 will be movie related.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yep, but only for the big blockbusters :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. You meant the old movie section?

    Just go here
    http://movies.spoilertv.com

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yep, I think that was the same for a lot of people on the site as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Exactly. It was confusing for users and for us as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'll be watching you  :) lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Any chance of theater release dates making it to the Calendar?

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's not something we have planned in the short term but I'll add it to our list of things to look at.

  30. Great idea, as I frequently forget to check the Movies page :)

Thanks for the head's up. It actually makes sense to me since I know that the movie page doesn't get much traffic both in terms of comments and posts. Like everyone else who commented, I actually forget about the movie page every once in a while and always when I remember there is new stuff.

  32. I dont care about movies.. Can you please remove movie news from TV news.. Anyone interested in movies should just go in section separated for that :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sorry, as we explained we've migrated them onto 1 site to make it easier for use to maintain them.

Just ignore them if you don't like them. No one is forcing you to read the articles.

  34. Any reason why I am getting movie badge points every time I comment, etc. on a TV show?  I mean it's been fun seeing all these movie badges pop up on the bottom of my screen, but I'm not earning any of them.

  35. i think its a great idea :D
