    E!Online already mentioned this theory... but what if "the future" on the poster refers to Elena becoming a vampire...? Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

     That possibility is inevitably tossed around by fans at the end of every season.  I don't see it happening this season.

    With Esther/Rebekah out to kill all the Originals and one white oak stake still in play it's not really all that safe to sign up for a pair of fangs right now.

    If the danger to the Originals was over and Klaus was still threatening to take Elena away to use her for her blood, I could see a window of opportunity for the change to happen.
