great episode i love elias as a villain he's great and im glad they finally stopped him but by the looks of the end idk how long he'll remain in jail but he's been great and i hope he returns one day. Great episode for Reese and Carter mainly and good seeing fusco has really changed since the pilot he's lot better. I love this series its great and glad its renewed and doing so well. I bet maybe Root will break out Elias because she could use the same kind of like "Reese" person as she is like finch more. But yea now that we settled Elias maybe we can bring back Root or Agent Snow or bring in a new villain.
PURE AWESOME! loved it soooooooooooo much... I knew Elias would eliminate the mob bosses when he told Carter that change is coming .. but it was awesome! Loved John kneecaping the door guy when he went to get Taylor back, that was great!
Loved Fusco too "you need to trust someone Carter" <3333 he's just brilliant!
Elias really has had a bad life. Poor guy: His mother's a prostitute, his father kills her, then when he goes to work for his father, his father tries to kill him too. It seems fucked-up parent-child relationships are a hallmark of Bad Robot productions. This was such an amazing episode, maybe the best of the season (so far). It moved so fast, I thought it was over at the halfway point! The way they can make a 60 minute program seem like a two hour movie, and not feel like it at all, is a testament to the skill of the writing and the acting. One last note that I meant to get to about last week's episode: Was Finch in love with Nathan Ingram? It certainly was implied.
Not to mention that Scarface is still out there by the looks of the end of the episode. I wouldn't be surprised if Elias planned to end up where he did in the end of this episode.
The Elias origin story was incredible explains so much about his personality, skillset and goals. I'm glad he was not killed since it means he can return to haunt Team Machine another day!
The Reese and Finch banter was as brilliant as ever and it was nice to have Fusco take a bit of a larger role again. I'm glad to see him more of a player after disappearing for a few episodes.
The HR vs the mob vs Elias made for a great dynamic. I'm sure HR will not feel obliged to give their mysterious benefactor Finch a pass if he shows his face to them again. The Dirty cop conspiracy has so much room to continue. If not HR itself, their connections to politicians and the federal police etc...
Carter, Carter, Carter.... You REALLY should answer your phone!
The first mythology-filled episode of the series. What a nice change!
Another amazing episode. So far, it's 19/19.
Some of my favourite moments/developments:
- Reese's wink to Carter at the end. - Taylor's assessment of Team Machine: the kick-ass guy and the man with the glasses. - Reese's famous knee-cap shooting, now through a door. - Fusco's development since the Pilot. Out of the four main characters, he has developed the most. - The callbacks to past characters/episodes, such as Stills from the Pilot and Elias' alias of Charlie Burton. - It seems like Mark Margolis' characters always die in an explosion. - Any guesses on what HR stands for?
Outstanding ep! Loved the extensive backstory on Elias and how even with a setback he still wields a big stick and that we shall certainly see him again. Loved that Fusco picked his side and that he is one that Carter can trust and perhaps we'll see them working together on the "team" with full knowledge of each other. And loved the remark between Taylor and Det Carter: "That guy you sent, he's kind of a badass"... Yeah, and he knows it..." Also loved that Finch was willing to go in and back Reese up on the extraction of Carter's son even though he knew that it wasn't his forte.......
OMG the best episode of the season so far. Reese and Finch save the day, but Elias get he's revenge, Moretti is dead and more now the next step is take a control of NY. Amazing see the Team Machine talk, Reese, Carter and Finch. Fusco did well too. I need to see this episode again great development of Elias backstory just cool enough.
POI is really, really great tv show. Like Ashwaq say one of the best lines "Loved Fusco too "you need to trust someone Carter" <3333 he's just brilliant!"
So damn good! Elias is a great villain and the stand off was excellent, also liked seeing Foscoe being good, I agree with someone else who wrote that he's developed the most out of the main 4 all season. I'm thinking Elias will stay in prison at least until the end of the season but he's too smart of a guy not to have a plan to get out. Glad to see Carter trusting Reese again.
Lastly, great use of Burn My Shadow during the fight scene.
He said that Nathan was his "very good friend" in that episode, which doesn't imply anything romantic in the context in which it was given. Plus, he was clearly attracted to fake Hester/Mary, so he'd have to be bi to have been romantically in love with Nathan. (But considering his "uncle" role to Nathan's son, I'd say there's more evidence pointing to the idea that Harold and Nathan were just as good of a platonic set of friends as was possible. Anything more than that is reading too much into things right now.)
I thought it was interesting that, unless I'm mistaken, only 4 of the 5 mob bosses (plus Moretti's son) ended up dead, i.e., there's still one mob boss out there alive. Does that mean that this solo mob boss will somehow inherit the mantle as leader of the five families, or since Elias was arrested, preventing him from stepping in and appointing himself leader of the families, does that mean that Elias will have to repeat the process with four new faces and the fifth old mob boss that he failed to kill?
It also looked like this episode confirmed that the flashbacks aren't necessarily video recorded by the machine. Since it went back before the machine should have first been built, and it showed us footage taking place in the middle of the woods where no camera should have been, that seems to confirm that the rewinding timeline isn't necessarily the machine accessing its archives as much as it is simply just a thematic graphic for the aid of the audience.
Elias is s totally escaping from Prison (or legalizing his way out) he was way too calm. I really liked this episode. I still feel bad for Fusco. And I loved Harold...wanting to do more and willing to take up a gun...when he'd already been pretty bad ass negotiating with the ranking HR guy. Awesome ep for me.
I've always thought that it's the machine.. but seeing that footage kinda disappointed me 'coz the thought of the machine showing us what it wants was more thrilling ...
someone asked that last time. I think it stands for Human Resources, yeah. They are a corrupt organization within NYPD. But basically, I think it means, they recruit guys from within the police force to work for them, like any HR does. Thats the analogy I think. :)
yes, great episode. I always kinda knew a flashback episode for Elias was due. And yes, its great that he did not die, and also, I dont think the prison is going to hold him forever.
Now, I am understanding what Jonathan Nolan meant when he said the last 5 episodes will play out like season finales. This is the first one. I think they will start tying up every story, one per episode.
I really like the idea of 5 finales, one each relating to the various subplots of the season. Elias Finch's past / Ingram Reese's past, HR/ Fusco Root or maybe Carter's feelings about the team.
I love and did not expect and Elias child/young adult flashback! -It makes me think we could see the rest of the characters when they were young and that intrigues me!
There was nice easter eggs to Alias with the "covenant" club (which also parallels the plot with Julian Sark and killing father Lazeray to become the head of The Covenant). Another easteregg to Officier Simmons and HR with Alcatraz's Harlan Simmons and his company as both characters dance around the corruption of the Law Enforcement entangled with the Mob or crooked industry. (and in Alcatraz E.B Tiller's first name is Elijah which is the Hebrew version of Greek Elias)
Elias is such a great villain and it's def getting better and better with these back stories...can't wait to see what he can do behind bars, or how long before he's on the streets again....
Elias is going to be proclaimed the Head Don even with him in prison. Nobody is going to stand up to him. That is why Elias is content being placed in Prison, Like he said Change was coming.
By looks of it you maybe right because the officer who was locking up Elias nodded to him after he got the phone back. Secondly when your escorted to a cell they never allow you to make personal calls, so the officer is indeed on Elias payroll.
Fyi Enrico who plays Elias does wonderful acting on POI and also on Flashpoint oh and better call his team and tell em he wont be in Canada anytime soon lol
I really like Flashpoint but have completely lost track of where they are in their production schedule because of the way it's aired in the US. There were new eps a while ago and suddenly we're getting reruns from about 2009.
Me, too! but Carter was in my mind, debating if she wanted to stay with Team Machine, she was on the bubble of saying stay out of my way and I won't hunt just leave me alone to my job in peace, I'm just saying in her defense...
Flashpoint has been moved to ION television after several episodes of season 4 aired on CBS and remaining episodes of Season 4 aired on ION television.
This summer season 5 will premiere in Canada and ION television, oh they currently are airing re-run episodes of Flashpoint on ION television
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I don't think they're done with Elias. He's pretty much the closest thing to a series villain.
ReplyDeleteHoley smokes is all I can really say. So much awesome packed in one hour! :D

ReplyDeleteMy guess is that they are using the usually innocuous "Human Resources" acronym... in an evil ironic sense
ReplyDeleteI loved this episode. We have seen why Alias do things.
ReplyDeleteOMG the best episode of the season so far. Reese and Finch save the day, but Elias get he's revenge, Moretti is dead and more now the next step is take a control of NY. Someone noted, Reese give a Carter the backpack call "plan B" (he use the backpack in the episode 14). I love this little details
ReplyDeletethis part is really great i agree "
ReplyDelete- Taylor's assessment of Team Machine: the kick-ass guy and the man with the glasses."

ReplyDeleteOr at the very least, prepared to end up there even if he didn't specifically want to end up there.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting that, unless I'm mistaken, only 4 of the 5 mob bosses (plus Moretti's son) ended up dead, i.e., there's still one mob boss out there alive. Oh yeah! that bag looked familiar, it's the Plan B bag .. how can I forget that? nice catch..

yes. way too calm. it's like a game to him I presume, he knew where he stood on the board, and what his moves were. he played accordingly.
ReplyDeleteIs like a xadrez for him or card game, this man is danger, because no one knows what your next move.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of 5 finales, one each relating to the various subplots of the season.
ReplyDeleteElias
Finch's past / Ingram
Reese's past,
HR/ Fusco
Root or maybe Carter's feelings about the team.
Terrific, really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThought this was another good one!

ReplyDeleteAt first I assumed it's HR, but then it looked too simple to me. After your explanation, though, it makes much more sense.
ReplyDeleteAwsome! As if like every week! But; Please, please Reese doesn't use a lot of hair gel!
ReplyDeleteBy looks of it you maybe right because the officer who was locking up Elias nodded to him after he got the phone back. Secondly when your escorted to a cell they never allow you to make personal calls, so the officer is indeed on Elias payroll.

ReplyDeleteAll the best cowboys have daddy issues!
ReplyDeleteOh, Darque, you really don't get women, we love to give the silent treatment when we're mad
ReplyDeleteHa! XD
ReplyDeleteI get that.. I've been on the receiving end more than I like to admit....
I still think no matter their gender one has to rise above spite and pettiness when they have a job that deal with life and death circumstances..
All I know is if John Reese called me I would take the call, grab my 'Plan B' bag and be out the door! XD
Me, too! but Carter was in my mind, debating if she wanted to stay with Team Machine, she was on the bubble of saying stay out of my way and I won't hunt just leave me alone to my job in peace, I'm just saying in her defense...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the mysterious codenamed "ROOT" that did some severe damage to Finch's operation
