That being said, these are the pilots I am looking forward to:
NBC: Do No Harm, Hannibal ABC: 666 Park Ave, Devious Maids, Gilded Lilys FOX: Kevin Williamson Project, Guilty CBS: Ralph Lamb CW: Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, The Selection & Joey Dakota
I would say, out of The CW pilots, Beauty and the Beast in the one I'm least excited for. I have zero interest in it. Same for ABC's. The thing that interests me about Once Upon a Time is how it brought the fairy-tale characters together. But alone? Not so much.
Joey Dakota's premise confuses me, it sounds ridicules but I like the lead actress. Maybe when I know more about it, my mind will change. But I'm more interested in it than Beauty and the Beast. And I wish they'd bring the Joey part back. Dakota tells me nothing about the series. Joey Dakota at least made sense.
First Cut has a great cast but The CW tends to have a a hospital/cop/law pilot, and it never gets picked up. So, I'm not convinced this will be different. I'd like to see it happen, though. Because it doesn't feel like the CW norm. And I want them to try new things.
The Carrie Diaries interest me because the 80s setting. Plus, with Gossip Girl ending, The CW needs at least one teen drama. But the whole "none of this matters" factor is a turn-off. We know who she ends up with. With know she never talks to, or mentions, any of these people again. So, I don't know.
Arrow, if the one I'm super excited about. Cult could be interesting but it's cooling down for me. The Selection could also be cool but I feel like it'll be like the worst parts of Twilight with a Hunger Games twist. Katniss is, like, a badass. The Selection's main character sound more like a Bella, and that doesn't interest me.
So, I'd like to see Arrow, First Cut, and Joey Dakota. Maybe The Carrie Diaries. Though, I'd rather see Fake Empire put their power to something else. Something fun, sexy. It's what they're good at. Take the best parts of The O.C. and Gossip Girl, and make a super show.
I refuse to get even mildly excited about any NBC project until I actually watch it... so pass. ABC is ABC so... PASS. Although if FX picks up Last Resort I would be very intrigued indeed.
I have not read much about Ralph Lamb, but wow, that cast is AWESOME!Not much else at CBS intrigues me at this point.... Elementary is Holmes, but do I really want to see CBS take everything that makes BBC's Sherlock great and turn it into a procedural with a female Watson? Especially Lucy Liu? No thank you. likely not.At FOX the WIlliamson project with Purefoy and Bacon is interesting for sure...CW pilots The Selection and Arrow have the most potential. Both sound like escapist fun though and nothing overly exciting. Cult and Joey Dakota both could be good, but I need to hear more before I really get excited. Beauty &the Beast sounds better at CW than at ABC, but that is all to easy to accomplish! XD
NBC: Friday Night Dinner + Midnight Sun + Sarah Silverman-pilot + 1600 Penns (Hannibal is coming, oh yeah) ABC: The Last Resort only, why? That cast is awsome, and it has Shawn Ryan. FOX: Kevin Williamson Project + Guilty + The Asset + Karyn User project + El Jefe (Ryan Hansen) + Little Brother (John Stamos/TJ Miller) CBS: Ralph Lamb + the Louis C.K. co-produced pilot with Dan Byrd among others. CW: I will not watch a single show from this channel again, Nikita and Smallville went really bad. The Vampire Diaries is good, but besides that, no the channel is for me straight up garbage (and i watch CSI: Las Vegas, im not a tv-snob really).
I would have been very excited about Arrow if CW had used Justin Hartley, he was the reason I was still watching Smallville, his Oliver Queen/Green Arrow was fantastic and he is so HOT. lol
I'm quite sad Cult didn't even get mentioned in the article, because I'm actually quite looking forward to that one. Other than that, the CW pilots don't really seem too interesting to me. I would give Beauty & the Beast a try and probably also the Selection, but from what I've read until now, it's nothing I'd be really excited about before I see anything on screen.
NBC ... I don't really have an opinion about the shows mentioned yet. The same goes for ABC, with the exception that I definitely do not want to the their version of Beauty & the Beast.
What I am mostly looking forward to is probably the untitled project by Kevin Williamson. I absolutely loved the synopsis, because it sounded like a show with much much potential and because I also like the general idea. And also, I've been a huge fan of Kevin Bacon for a long time now and him being involved with this makes it worth a try, for me at least.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm glad pilot season is going well!
ReplyDeleteNo mention of Joey Dakota on The CW? :(

And I have no interest in Shelter whatsoever.

I'm very happy that First Cut got a mention. This is making me hopeful. Because....Jack Coleman!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see if any of the non mentioned pilots in the article get picked up...I mean usually it is the ones that get the most buzz who do
