The SpoilerTV Summer Show & Character Competitions - Which Do You Want First & What Other Competitions Would You Like To See?
23 Mar 2012
Cancelled Shows SpoilerTV Article Supernatural Vampire DiariesHey folks,
As we are getting quite close to the summer, it's about time I started thinking about the Summer Competitions, which will be in their 3rd year running. Can anything stop Supernatural's large dominance on the competitions?
As a result, I thought I'd let you pick which one I do first. The poll is below...
The previous winners are:
1st STV Favourite TV Show Competition
Winner: Supernatural
Runner Up: The Vampire Diaries
2nd STV Favourite TV Show Competition
Winner: Supernatural
Runner Up: Fringe
1st STV Favourite TV Character Competition
Winner: Jack Shepherd - LOST
Runner Up: Fox Mulder - The X Files
2nd STV Favourite TV Character Competition
Winner: Castiel - Supernatural
Runner Up: Damon Salvatore - The Vampire Diaries
Also, if there's anything else you would like over the summer, let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do!

Both, ok I know they can't both be first, but I am just excited for the polls to start. lol
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't mind although I vote for favorite TV show purely because I know that it will be a little less tense because the character poll is always nerve wreaking especially when characters from the same show are involved
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer the character one first, with the show competition leading into the new Fall season.
ReplyDeleteThat way the finale talks will stretch into who did what, how do we feel about that, and how does it compare to this other show that did this....and then the show competition will build-up to all the cliffhangers being resolved.
Really looking forward to this years shows one. Lots of great new shows.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest, OUAT, Homeland, American Horror Story and some great returning ones. Walking Dead, Dexter, Castle,
And everyone knows who is going to win again. It will wind up just like last year.
ReplyDeleteI say start with the Favourite TV Character Competition first.
ReplyDeleteI say this because I know there will be a lot of inside fighting when characters from the same show are up against each other (*cough* Supernatural), and I think it would be great to then have the Favourite TV Show Competition, just to unite the fandoms again.
Show contest definitely, but only if both of them wrap before the new season starts. I think the character contest is swayed far too much, if the season is going on or just ended, by things that happen in just a few episodes and not the evolution of the character as a whole.
ReplyDeleteHow about The STV Favourite TV Character Ever Competition - Male and The STV Favourite TV Character Ever Competition - Female?
ReplyDeleteMaybe categorize the entries to make it less of a foregone conclusion?
ReplyDeleteThey would probably take too long to run. Interesting idea though
ReplyDeleteThis is the plan. Not 100% sure how they're gonna be categorized yet, but definitely cancelled and active shows won't be able to battle it out until later in the competition.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about maybe splitting scifi/drama/comedy up for the first few rounds as well, but I'd need another category. Maybe procedural. I'll have to see how it goes when I try planning it out :P
Maybe. Anyway, it's just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI think, if memory serves me well, we separated the male and females for the first 2/3 rounds last year. It's likely we will have something similar to this I'd think. Maybe keep them separated for longer. I'll have a think!
I love the polls. I voted for Character first, but I really don´t mind. Hope there will be some new characters in these polls this time.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing haha.. especially when you see that the second character competition winner was Castiel from SPN - people are so vocal about loving or hating him right now, and I can only imagine the caps lock wars if he were to (heaven forbid) beat out Sam or Dean in the same poll.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind best character/show poll but Cable channels only! It would be nice to have some polls not dominated by the big networks (and CW) I would be very interested to see that
ReplyDeleteCompetition ! Competion, competition go in tummy, me so hungie, me so hungie.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the SupernaturalTV (that's not what the S stands for ? :p) Favourite TV Show ever competition first.
Also, here's an idea : exclude Supernatural, Fringe and The Vampire Diaries from the tournament. OR at least include a rule stating that if either of these three shows (all of them crushing every single competition on this site) doesn't get at least 65% of the votes, the show they were opposed to goes on in the competition.
Before you start saying about how unfair it would be, about how I should suck it up that those shows have the most dedicated fans around here, I want to say that I, too, love Fringe very much and I enjoy TVD quite a bit (and I'm sure I'd like SPN as well if I had started watching it). But even if I'm a big Fringe fan, I wouldn't mind a little bit of uncertainty in these competitions. Would you ?
If they're included / go on if they get 50% of the votes, the only mark of suspense there will ever be is " for how long will X show will stay in the competition before it gets inevitably eliminated by SPN, Fringe or TVD ?".
Adam's idea of having categories based on the genre (comedy, sci-fi, etc) would work. TVD, SPN, Fringe and other fantasy shows would battle against each other on their own at the beginning of the competition, leaving a little opportunity to some sitcoms to reach the quarter-finals (well, in the end, one of these 3 shows will still win, obviously, but it would create the illusion of a surprising outcome for a few days).
I like both but I voted for Character
ReplyDeleteExactly my reasoning :)
