  1. I like what we got to learn, no matter if it was true or not, considering the source.
    Aunt Marie has more secrets.
The titular coins was what got Nick's parent killed.
At one point, I thought the Captain Renard could be much older than he appears. I am still trying to work out what kind of Grimm royalty he is.
And Munroe. I see him showing his stuff to Nick.

  2. This was an awesome episode... the first time I've rated any episode from the series as "Awesome"...

Titus Welliver was brilliant as usual. I was not sure if he killed Nick's parent's, loved Aunt Marie or both! XD

It was really nice to get some more back story on Nick and his Grimm heritage. I wonder if Nick's mom was a Grimm too. I'm still not sure if it passes through parent to offspring or some more mystical bloodline methodology. I would like to learn more about the overall world of the Grimm, it's protectors and history.

I found it interesting and a bit unexpected that the Captain got high on coins and made a big speech about stopping crime. I always took him for being a dirty cop or at least involved in the supernatural world somehow. His mystery call about the coins confirmed he is tied into the creature community. I would have expected him to go rogue not clean up the city.

I really liked this larger conspiracy or more historic aspect the episode had. The sigil of the Captain's banners when he was high on coins and dreaming, and also that Hitler was wearing as a lapel pin.  I'm intrigued as to wht this symbol represents.... A secret society type organization? The supercharged ruler in possession of the coins?

Hitler being a Supe  was cute, but a little contrived to me. I hope they don't try to show more of humanities more evil people as literal monsters.

I giggled when Monroe said "Bis spaeter alligator" since my ubergeek German teacher in junior high school used to say that a lot.

  3. ^^; not nearly enough Monroe for me, I think the opening was also a bit long, too long moment spend on the creatures killing each other, the rest was good

But the Hitler's monster thing...don't like it, make it sound to me like ''its okay its not his fault what he did, he was a monster, it was 'his nature' ''

  4. Prob the best ep of the season so far. Liked the background we got on Nick and that this just wasn't the usual "wessen of the week" ep and that we got a glimpse that whatever agenda/group the that the captain is affiliated with is international. Still would like to see more movement on that front as they've been dragging that out too long imho. I thought that the Hitler as a wessen film and the efx of the coins being lapel devices was a bit cheesy, but fun. I do think that Nick needs to find a far more secure hiding spot than in his little trailer of solitude behind a suitcase.... anyone could follow him to it and poke around and Monroe might accidentally stumble on them... cmon Nick... lol

  5. About the hitler thing. I interpreted as a worst case scenario. A 'what if a monster came into a position of power' scenario. At least that is my two cents. :)

  6. Much better than last week.  Lots of goodies.  Aunt Marie was engaged!  We know why Nick's parents were killed!  And Power Hank!

The one thing they *could* have resisted was the Hitler reveal.  I was hoping that what was on that film would be more Grimm related.

One of the most frustrating things about this show is the pacing of their arc plots.  Juliet goes from that weird pensive moment in last week's ep to totally over it in tonight's ep.  (Though I did like her doing the investigative help.)  The show has gained enough of an audience that we can get more hasn't it?  :-)
I'm not sure how I feel about finding out that Nick's not atypical in having his friendship with Monroe.  (Aunt Marie was actually engaged to a wessen.(  On the one hand there won't be a bunch of angry Grimm hall monitors coming along to yell at him but on the other, it's yet another thing that makes the character 'just a guy'Rousing motivational speech from the Captain...I was hoping his Coin-mania would reveal more about who the character really is, but no matter, it as loads of fun watching him step on the road to dictator.

    Really enjoyed the ep.

  7. I think he specifically said Nick's mom was the Grimm protecting the coins when Nick's parents were killed.

  8.  I myself definitely get the sense that Renard does have some moral code, albeit a bit more malleable than maybe mine or Nick's for instance. Like in last week's episode the implication seemed to be that he had given permission for the Lowen to recruit only "undesirable" people for the cage fights (unrepentant criminals and the like). The fact that they started kidnapping innocent or relatively innocent people is what made him take the action that he did. So it made sense that he would fall on the side of general law and order. Although how he would maintain such order would more than likely be ethically suspect, at least in most people's view.

  9. Last week Lowen implied that the Captain was some sort of creature royalty.  He has had quite a few ties into the creature community in multiple episodes.  He seems to be a generally good guy, but without the power to enforce his will he is forced into some shady business to deal with creatures on his turf.

  10. I definitely think he is in a seat of power and have thought that from the first or second episode. I'm not sure if it is elected, assumed through birthright or taken by force though....

I still think Captain Renard is morally grey at best and not just in power and wanting to keep power. Just a gut feeling from the early episodes honestly. I took him as the "big bad" from the first two episodes if memory serves.... He seems to be no friend of the Grimm and be up to something more than just consolidating power to me. I could be way off though and maybe he is just looking out for his kind as royalty...

  12. Is it just me or is Captain Renard incredibly sexy! Esp when he's speaking Francais... Something about the grey are which he seems to inhabit is very alluring too. No clear cut right and wrong for him then!
I liked the hordes of Wessen rather than the few he usually encounters.
You really got a feel of that other world as a functioning entity rather than just a few on the fringe.
Very interested to see what position the Capt occupies in that world too.
