Why is it awful? Any time that Walter is in a scene, it's awesome. I got a great laugh when I saw the magazine title, and my son has a Wheel-O, so he was excited to see that.
Very good episode with a lot of callbacks!I liked the Walterisms and the scene with Markham were just insane fun! XDThe rumblings by doomsday groups (remind anyone of End-of-Dayers) are chattering about building a better human through mutation. I think these porcupine/Bat hybrid mutants are one step and one part that could eventually lead to the end product that is the Observers.I think this timeline's "beast" are awesome fun! a porcupine with bat wings?I did wonder how we the viewers could see the Observer walk behind Peter and Lincoln when they arrive at Olivia's without her seeing him on the other side of the street since she was facing that way exactly!More comments after rewatch and some thought...
Yeah, we've got all the little and big critters from seasons 1 and 2... only in one place.. PLUS a spider...man. O_O
Overall, I really enjoyed the episode, but it wasn't what I wanted to see. I liked the ending though. It will be nice to see what they do with Fringe's Noah's ark. :P
Yeah I thought Persons Unknown too. I just recently rewatched it on Netflix. It was a little better watching it knowing what is going on. This time I just watched like I would a train wreck, I was analyzing where and when exactly it went wrong.
Okay, definitely better than last week. Jeff Pinkner is clearly the superior writer of the team; watch out for J.H. Wyman.
LOVED that Walter got a significantly larger part in the proceedings; he has been sorely missed. It was touching that he collected birthday presents as a way to grieve for Peter. The magazine was funny, but was he doing something naughty with it in the bathroom? ;) I want one of those spinning things he was holding at the end, and a bacon-and-peanut-butter sandwich. And was it just me, or did John Noble seem ill? Also, I hate Astrid's new hairstyle.
The case was interesting for a change, harking back to vintage season one. At first it was a bit unnerving to see the season one footage, but it made more sense after the plane landed. Having the victim be part of some apotheosis cult was a shock, given that in the original timeline he was an undercover cop working with John Scott. More thoughts on that lower.
(Warning Lincoln lovers: the following contains much hatred and profanity) Oh my fucking God, what the fuck is wrong with Lincoln? How the fuck does he expect to get Olivia by ratting her out to Broyles? He desperately needs to grow a pair. He is so fucking useless and unlikable as a character, it's unbelievable. Fringe writers (if you're reading this): please, PLEASE kill off Lincoln. You could've killed him tonight (am I the only one who was rooting for the porcupine to eat him?). And it seems next week is the Lincoln special. Whoop-de-fucking-do. (end Lincoln hate)
I'm think DarthLocke4 is onto something about this version of ZFT: that it's seeking to become godlike beings by destroying the universes. It certainly seemed that way from this episode. I think the Jones rabbit-hole goes much, much deeper than we previously were led to believe. Fortunately, there are two works by Stephen King that I think can act as our White Rabbit: The Mist and The Dark Tower.
In The Dark Tower, a creature called the Crimson King attempts to become a god by destroying the embodiment of God that holds reality together. His main accomplice is another creature known by many names (primarily by the initials R.F.), but generally called Flagg; who actually worked against CK for his own ends. I've tried to work out whether Jones is CK or Flagg, I'm think he's just Flagg. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm thinking William Bell might be CK. There are a lot of things not right with this Jones, and I think Bell is a factor.
Another thing about TDK, in the third book (The Waste Lands) the main character (Roland) undergoes a mental breakdown because his mind remembers two completely different versions of another character (a boy named Jake) who was killed off: one where the character existed and another where he didn't. But Roland time-travels to the place where Jake was killed and prevents his death from happening. Very similar to the erasure and reappearance of Peter.
The members of the cult (which I will call ZFT for clarity) converting themselves into flying porcupines (and by the looks of the boat at the end, other creatures) greatly reminded me of the movie adaptation of The Mist. In the movie (which I HIGHLY recommend), scientists attempt to open a porthole to parallel universes, but end up ripping open a hole to a dimension where absolutely grotesque creatures and incredibly thick mist emerge to cover the entire planet. Giant spiders, wasps the size of Great Danes, and a six legged creature that is indescribably huge are just some of them. Is this the world Jones wants to rule? A world where ZFT is a bunch of monsters and Jones is god?
Sorry about the length of this post (longest I've ever written), but there's a lot I wanted to say. I loved this episode (needs another viewing) WAY better than last week's turd, and I'm once again hopeful for the future of Fringe.
Remember that mutant monster thing that flew around some small seaside town that was grabbing up people and flying away with them! It was almost the same. And having a full-monster like that reminded me of the 90s with shows like XF and Buffy... But it did lack the Fringe feel to me... I think they did a great job with the effects (especially for their budget) but it didn't feel like Fringe. I remember the first time I saw the Transformation (1x14) and thought "nope... try again... " and when they had the monster from "Unleashed" I was like "THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!"
Would the Observers be the counter to DRJ as Randall Flagg? Hmm.. does not feel right... but I still like the King parallels and DRJ as one of the two TDT roles.
Possibly yes. I have never been sure where the Observers lie and the Good-Bad spectrum though. Well intentioned benevolent and trying to protect what is as it should be or malevolent minions of a greater power that are trying to ensure his victory? I go back and forth.... but for right now I like them as protectors.
I loved it............ Season 01 .... Back to the Future somethingus... Waltertjuh! He is soo adorable... I wanna have a Walter for my birthday in June!!! ♥
I've felt the Observer's Red and Blue technology is an homage to Red Peter and Blue Olivia for a long while now and their interest in baby Henry supports that if not confirms it in my mind. It's them wanting to make sure the right pair had the right child for the right future...the future which is the origin of the Observers If they are descended from Peter and Olivia it all falls into place quite nicely.
Excellent twist. I wondered why they'd bring back the porcupine man of all things, and I spent most of the episode confused - a flying giant porcupine in love? Really? - but the end made it clearer. I can't wait to see what this weird little menagerie turns into. And I loved watching the Fringe team mesh back together, with Peter, Olivia and Astrid working together like they used to, Walter accepting Peter and being so much happier because of it (birthday presents = love. Only Walter would buy his sixteen-year-old skin mags), and Peter's ... I might call it giddiness, or as close to giddy as Peter's likely to get. It was rather adorable, especially when he was playing with the wheel toy at the end. He deserves to be happy for a while after all that he's dealt with this season. Plus, the way he and Olivia just sort of fell back into their relationship, romantic and work related, was really nice. I appreciated the lack of drama on that end, considering how much we've had all season.
I felt a little sorry for Lincoln in this episode, because he's trying to be okay with everything, but my heart isn't exactly bleeding for him. He's just not particularly useful. I mean, he didn't help solve the case and he had to be saved three times in the same episode; all he really did was try to be cool with Peter and Olivia, a goal he has yet to reach. Here's hoping next week's episode launches some kind of storyline for the guy because really. This is getting kind of sad. I will say that I found his reaction to being infected pretty damn funny; maybe he needs to just lighten up and stop staring all wistfully at Olivia and he'll become more productive. Here's hoping. I felt far worse for Nina, who has much more reason to be upset but is handling it far better, not mention still being useful. Having her around is not helping as a standard of comparison.
Looking forward to next week, with alt-universe and much action. I'm curious to see where this is all going.
Hmmm. I thought it was an awesome ep. But...my mind is just a tad blown.
Random thoughts:
* Flying porcupine doesn't seem like the most efficient/useful form...certainly not for surviving until the world has changed. * That mushy part of me was over the moon when Walter said "Perfect." * Talk about false advertising..yes...you're the dominate being of the future but for now you have to stay in a cage? Didn't sound like the volunteers thought that's what they were signing up for. * Felt bad for Nina...there was just that moment when she wanted to see her Olivia in Olivia's eyes.
No I have no idea why anyone would use a porcupine mutation either. No real special talent other than having quills that look cool on camera as far as I can tell. XD
Quills are kinda outdated too as far as mutant soldiers would be concerned. Guns > quills.
Now if they had mixed a kangaroo I would understand! Evasive hoppers, speed and a convenient pouch to hide contraband!..... Of course they are a good source high protein low fat meat too!. I've heard porcupine meat is not so good by comparison....
I just want to hug Lincoln so much, I really want him to find happiness. It seems so cruel otherwise! I know a lot of people don't like his character but I do and it shows a different side to the story, happiness for Peter and Olivia doesn't mean happiness for everyone in their lives. Nina and Lincoln are both being affected by the changes.
I loved all the Walter scenes this week, the bit when he gave Peter his birthday presents and they hugged. Eeee! So great to see him so happy!
As for the timeline, so I think DRJ basically wants the original S1 timeline ONLY he wants it modified to suit his wicked wicked needs. So this is why the things Peter/Olivia remember don't always match up.
I've given up really understanding it all now ha
Also was that Alessandro Juliani at the end? Aka Felix Gaeta from BSG? BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!
Did anyone notice, in the opening sequence in one of those blue flashes, it said "Observers are here". My computer chose to freeze at exactly that moment :) I hadn't seen that before
Thought you would like to know Zap2it is having there annual count down to the best show.Right now it is Fringe against Castle, voting is still going on in case you want to vote!
When did ratting Olivia out to Broyles? I thought she call Broyles herself when they found out which clinic that porcupine thing was going to break into, as Lincoln and Peter were talking about him need to tell Broyles
Awesome episode, much better than last weeks episode. Rachel has two kids now! Olivia had 40% of stuff she said was wrong, kinda interesting twist. I do wonder has she fully remember everything or will she lose more knowledge of this universe as she remember more of the old universe? I always loved the porcupine episode in season 1, so I was always going to love this one, love of the call back to season 1! Very creep episode,I jumped a few times.
I really feel sorry for Lincoln, he definitively had something with Olivia but now she had love downloaded into her, she in love with Peter and he just a friend/work colleague and now she does not even remember flirting with him.I think that he was in a change win Olivia heart if she had not remember about Peter. He seem so sad and lonely.
Oh and what a creepy end! The giant bugs are so creepy. No idea what DRJ big plan is. Maybe next week we find out more about it
Just want everyone to know Zap2it is having there annual countdown to the best show for 2011-2012.Right now Fringe is up against Castle,as of last night Fringe was ahead.I just wanted to put this out there in case you would like to vote.
Personally i would love to see Fringe win,i think they deserve it.....
I like this one much better than last weeks. It was great fun to go back to "The Transformation" and tie something seemingly loose in the other time line into something greater 'here'. (along with loose ends/MOTW from other episodes "Snake Head", Unearthed")
I don't think any of the other character's are going to remember other iterations of themselves, as I think in Olivia's case, it relies on both Peter and more importantly, the cortexifan. That's not to say that Walter isn't becoming more and more like whom he was...with other characters it may be a visceral transference, rather than full and visual memory sensory.
It was great see another version of season's three's red psychologist, season 1's Bowman, and Markham. The marks/tattoos on the men are interesting too, tying us back to Newton, as William Bell told Olivia in "Momentum Deferred" that the shapeshifter's leader would have a certain mark on his body...and we never understood why the shapeshifters/Walternate would be have been after this specific cryogenically preserved scientists head. These marks may also relate to The First People in some way, since the marks are Cuneiform, which is similar to marks found on some of the machine parts when they were unearthed. But seemingly this time it all falls on Jones, instead of detouring to Walternate, as once again we see that this cult of people like ZFT or End of Dayers, are attempting to create 'a better human being', as again I believe all these things plays on the original creation of The Observers...Of course it seems Hicks didn't die and that his sister is also involved (Gina Holden seems to be an interesting character since she wants to be Mrs. Eve Porkypine!)But it's interesting to see all of these animal mutations and to once again play on the name Conrad "Monreau", who had died this time around prior to these case and happens to share the name with a man working under Walternate in the 2026 time line, both considered terrorists.Where ever Jones, Meana, and their cult is going seems to be bigger than what we have seen before since all of these things are cultivating at one time!I also thought it was interesting Rachel stayed married and had a son, who still shares a name pattern with Ella...as Eddy is very similar (which Nina also shares this pattern)...and how interesting that he was named after Olivia and Rachel's grandfather...especially since the what was once Henry(who is initially named after the cab driver) , was not the first Henry in the Bishop line, as Walter comment once he had an uncle named Henry.Another thing was fun was Lincoln Lee! I was so worried that he might become a goner! But I love the little nod to the game of chess he and Walter were playing...especially considering the Alcatraz finale episodes also went back to it's chess playing motif and Edwin James announced to Garret Stillman the importants of Bishops in the game!! (Oh and there there are all the things pertaining to "Batman"--gosh do I love BR!)
I think it's not MOTW...I think the writers are trying to tell us that none of those events, we took as viewers, as stand alone episodes, aren't really, or aren't any more.
It's clear since the genetic projects now stem back to Jones, and that Jones lived on in this time line, we get to see what ZFT (and by extension from yet another timeline The End of Dayers) were trying to do, which may be reflective to the Observers own existence.
We're back back onto apotheosis, super soldiers, life extension, and maybe even 'time line control'...
additionally we can see just traveling across parallel universes was not his only agenda, so it also stands to reason, given September dropped an A-bomb that there can be "locked universes", that Jones is going to attempt (like the end of Dayers and perhaps even The First People) find a way to "rewrite" history...and/or network pieces of time together...which could lead to temporal war.
But I think it might just be another step along the way...there's the one episode were Bats were apart of the mix too (the one where Charlie get impregnated) --I can't remember what Walter said about them, but I thought there was something interesting. I'll have to go check it out and get back to ya!
The crimson King would have to change identities in each iterations, but the 'original' or the real one in charge may not have been presented to us...
We know that Walternate, Jones, and/or Meana play a similar roles....so what ever the 'original' is, most likely centers around another Massive Dynamic, as MD might actually be either the TDT or Ka-tet corp....
I love this episode for the fact of the previous season's callback (porcumen, worm, the shrink, Markham), Peter/Walter's hug, Peter/Olivia working together. The only thing I have no clue of is DRJ's endgame. It left me dumb-brained.
Loved it - it wasn't the most exciting Fringe episode but it had me so intrigued. What is Jones up to?? Loved all the relatiionship stuff - Olivia and Peter, Walter and Peter, Peter and Lincoln having a talk about Olivia, and Broyles and Olivia - there is no Fringe division without Olivia (I feel like we haven't seen much of Broyles lately though - would like to see him do more). My heart broke for Nina though - I'm going to miss that relationship - we got back father/son but lost mother/daughter. The throwbacks to previous episodes were great as well - the mutant creatures as well as seeing Markham again. As always I can't wait to see what crazy ride the Fringe writers are going to take us on.
I initially thought it was a cool idea that they would be solving a MOTW case that harked back to a S1 case, but slightly different, and that Olivia would be able to use her gift/curse/mental state to help solve it. I was happy for the majority of the episode... but I was a little dismayed when it turned out that DRJ is somehow behind it all and that they were part of the whole mythology. Are they going to be the new shapeshifters? I'm not really keen on them being more than just MOTW, to be honest.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I much prefer the mythology episodes, by a long-shot, but really? Porcubats? They are MOTW fodder. Season 1 had it right.
I always felt that all FRINGE events are related to the original time line, and/or the time line the Observers were/are created....
Theory: Creating the Perfect Soldier: The Evolution of the Observers http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=23330
IMO the writers are picking out things that were unresolved to make a point that everything that happens in any time line still relates to the relativity of a family of universes and repeating, but also manifesting events (like strong DNA), are reflecting what ever originally happened, as a means to attempting to show us a much bigger truth to 'reality' itself and the idea of incarnation-procreation.
Each creature-mutation we pairs. One pair (maybe more) - male/female of each new creature-mutation. They seemed to be showing us that they were couples who were choosing to be changed, but going in, they were Loving Couples.
I also agree that shows that we're thought as stand alone eps are all starting to tie into each other.
I think it definitely ties into the myth arc.. no doubt. The beast.. (or Porcubat... or Bat-Quill as I prefer to call it) was still the "monster" of the week or case of the week as it were.
Sometimes it gets confusing calling the week's case the MOTW when it is not a MOTW in the more specific sense meaning not related to the serial myth arc. *Shrug*
I think when the season started it was gone...It's been in the opening credits always with the exception of the last episode of season three (the word "hope" is there instead) and I thought it wasn't there when 4th season started...but I will have to check back just to make sure...
Your Welcome! I know how busy you have been today.I haven't watched Fringe again that is why i haven't been in contact with you.I have been trying to not read the comments, which is pretty funny considering i'm here,ha! I hope to get to it tonight if not tomorrow.. :)
That makes good sense. And I think it is a clever way of showing how the various timelines are linked.
One thing that irks me though (changing the subject a bit) is the plane scene. Two identical planes, two identical on-plane scenarios with identical crew and probably identical passengers ( (?) I didn't check), same flight number, same dialogue, same actions and even the same pink shirt... right up until the point where the timeline diverges from its S1 counterpart.Only, this S4 flight is NOT a divergence from an S1 counterpart... it takes place several years later than the S1 version, and he's doing the experiments for totally different reasons. There was no need for it to be the 'exact' same flight in a different timeline, because it was an ENTIRELY different flight under entirely different circumstances. The fact that the scenes were so identical is just unrealistic (even for a show called 'Fringe').
I think some things would be nearly identical ---that was the point in LOST, there was only variation in "key" places....and at "Key" times...It would be like having an equation were you get to certain functions and that function is able to give a variable more freedom in direction, but then simultaneously the alleged choice would also then play a ripple effect with in the equation and possibly become another cycle with in itself . (Simulation hypothesis) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis
But all of those unresolved mysteries may rely on having multiple time lines to compare ours too...it's the "white tulip" idea...just because we can't see why, or how, doesn't mean there 'wasn't' a reason things played out like they did...We can assume 815 kept crashing, but we don't know for how long with the exact same people...how many iterations it took for things to slowly chang...Daniel Faraday didn't get memory transference visually like some of the other characters, but he did get a visceral transference and for him, or for many of the previous versions of himself, it was about stopping 815 from crashing, because somehow his past self(ves) believed changing this even was "key" in saving Charlotte (which really may be...just getting closer to Charlotte)
I thought it was a weak episode. I was kind of cool that they went back to a S1 case, but I didn´t really like how it turned out. And the whole Olivia/Peter thing is kind of bothering me. I think it just seems to easy to say "oh, you were in the right universe this whole time and now Olivia is remembering everything". I´m missing the other universe. I like the interaction between the two and hope for more of that before the end of this season.
I liked it. - Lots of great callbacks. - The end of this week's pre-title segment was great. I loved the monster bursting through the door. - This episode was a nice payoff for Peter / Olivia fans. - His new status as a 3rd wheel sucks for Lincoln but it's a real, believable outcome. I appreciate that Fringe didn't try to soften the blow or give him some shallow, conciliatory happy ending. - That being said, between Peter's "you're a good guy" comment and Alt-Livia's "I like nice guys" comment a while back, I'm not ruling out the possibility of Fringe pairing Lincoln with Alt-Livia. - I didn't like the manner in which they reinstated Olivia at the end. It was too easy. The resolution felt lazy to me. - It was nice to see Walter so happy. It's probably the happiest he's been on this show. - Speaking of Walter, I almost died when he came out of the bathroom with Hump magazine. - I liked how Blair Brown played Nina's scene at Massive Dynamic and I hope they further explore how Olivia's change has altered that relationship. I also wonder if she'll harbor any resentment toward Peter. - The "Adam & Eve" dynamic that Gina Holden's character had with that monster was interestingly creepy. - So was that cargo ship some sort of messed up Noah's Arc or something?
I liked the episode and I am happy that Olivia is an agent again, but its always "funny" when in procedural shows the main character disobey the boss and put a partner on danger or even destroy some lab but at the end he/she always get praise instead of a recriminating speech by the boss. LOL this does NOT happen in Spain (In real life, I mean)
yes, you have a point. but at this stage almost everything points back to some myth arc and this episode felt very self-contained and the references to DRJ felt a bit contrived, IMO.
I am glad to revisit ZFT storyline, I hope we get closure on that!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Definitely need to watch that one again.
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome. It felt like vintage season 1 MOTW.
ReplyDeleteIt was okay, but not the best of the season. Lincoln is now much more part of the team. Loved his reaction when Walter told him he was infected.
ReplyDeleteSo was that like a Noah's ark of fringe creatures.
ReplyDeleteCallback heaven! Not only "The Transformation", but "Unleashed", "Snakehead", and maybe...cloning? I need to rewatch!

Great episode as always. Felt a little like an XFiles with the freak-monster flying off with the girl.
ReplyDeleteIf it was any more awesome, it would be god
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought Persons Unknown too. I just recently rewatched it on Netflix. It was a little better watching it knowing what is going on. This time I just watched like I would a train wreck, I was analyzing where and when exactly it went wrong.
ReplyDeleteSo, let's see here. DRJ has:
ReplyDelete-Shapeshifters
-Amphilicite
-Olivia's Cortexiphan powers
-Altverse minions
-A boat full of mutant creatures
What's the end result?
Season 5!
ReplyDeleteThere is just no end to Fringe epicness!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds legit.

True... and agreed.

A fantastic episode. Reminded me a lot of Lost's flash-sideways.. I mean, a plane did NOT crash.
ReplyDeleteI also hate spiders and snakes. Hopefully we won't see too much of them.
The first time peter said 'Liv' onscreen right?
ReplyDeleteExcellent twist.
ReplyDeleteI felt a little sorry for Lincoln in this episode, because he's trying to be okay with everything, but my heart isn't exactly bleeding for him.
I'm curious to see where this is all going.
really, the third episode it seemed to me that they were stressing how much of a third wheel he was... I found it annoying.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this episode. The scene with Peter and the shifter was exceptional.
ReplyDeleteMe too
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I thought it was an awesome ep. But...my mind is just a tad blown.
ReplyDeleteRandom thoughts:
* Flying porcupine doesn't seem like the most efficient/useful form...certainly not for surviving until the world has changed.
* That mushy part of me was over the moon when Walter said "Perfect."
* Talk about false advertising..yes...you're the dominate being of the future but for now you have to stay in a cage? Didn't sound like the volunteers thought that's what they were signing up for.
* Felt bad for Nina...there was just that moment when she wanted to see her Olivia in Olivia's eyes.
There was lots of awesome creepy about this ep.
I want another season of Fringe for my B-day in October :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteYup. I pinged Persons Unknown. (way to kill a good set up)
ReplyDeleteI was having trouble seeing how porcupine would be a good idea when it comes to building a better human. ;-)
too bad I hadn't discovered the spoilerTV boards when that show was falling apart. I was trying to figure it out too.
ReplyDeleteI voted OK too. The MOTW left me a bit indifferent and I thought Lincoln was very out of place too. I did enjoy Olivia's arc.
ReplyDeleteFringe-Noah Arc, there's a mystery I want to see solved.
ReplyDeleteNo I have no idea why anyone would use a porcupine mutation either. No real special talent other than having quills that look cool on camera as far as I can tell. XD
ReplyDeleteQuills are kinda outdated too as far as mutant soldiers would be concerned.
Guns > quills.
Now if they had mixed a kangaroo I would understand!
Evasive hoppers, speed and a convenient pouch to hide contraband!..... Of course they are a good source high protein low fat meat too!. I've heard porcupine meat is not so good by comparison....
Couldn't have said it better myself! lol
ReplyDeleteI just want to hug Lincoln so much, I really want him to find happiness. It seems so cruel otherwise! I know a lot of people don't like his character but I do and it shows a different side to the story, happiness for Peter and Olivia doesn't mean happiness for everyone in their lives. Nina and Lincoln are both being affected by the changes.
ReplyDeleteI loved all the Walter scenes this week, the bit when he gave Peter his birthday presents and they hugged.
I really liked this one. :) Good to see the POlivia back together again and this amazing P/W dynamic.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Friday!!
X-Files loved its mutants. I could almost hear Mulder's voice explaining about this group working to create a new and improved species.
ReplyDeleteI like Lincoln and i think others do,its just been Peter and Olivia for so long how could it possibly be anyone else? You know destiny and all that!
ReplyDeleteIt brought tears to my eyes when Walter and Peter hugged,it was so nice seeing that again,it was hard watching Walter this season.
And wow what a nice surprise seeing Alessandro again,i hope that we see more of him!
And that boat........
haha, was think the same thing when saw that bit
ReplyDeleteAnd i want to know Fringe is renewed so i can have a happy and relaxed birthday in July!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice, in the opening sequence in one of those blue flashes, it said "Observers are here". My computer chose to freeze at exactly that moment :) I hadn't seen that before
ReplyDeleteThought you would like to know Zap2it is having there annual count down to the best show.Right now it is Fringe against Castle, voting is still going on in case you want to vote!
ReplyDeleteWhen did ratting Olivia out to Broyles? I thought she call Broyles herself when they found out which clinic that porcupine thing was going to break into, as Lincoln and Peter were talking about him need to tell Broyles
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, much better than last weeks episode. Rachel has two kids now! Olivia had 40% of stuff she said was wrong, kinda interesting twist. I do wonder has she fully remember everything or will she lose more knowledge of this universe as she remember more of the old universe? I always loved the
ReplyDeleteporcupine episode in season 1, so I was always going to love this one, love of the call back to season 1!
Maybe next week we find out more about it
No, he didn't actually do it. But the very fact he thought about it deserves disdain and ridicule.
ReplyDeleteI've been following it and have voted. Thank you for the reminder :)
ReplyDeleteCool! :)
ReplyDeleteJust want everyone to know Zap2it is having there annual countdown to the best show for 2011-2012.Right now Fringe is up against Castle,as of last night Fringe was ahead.I just wanted to put this out there in case you would like to vote.
ReplyDeletePersonally i would love to see Fringe win,i think they deserve it.....
Wow that is cool, and no i didn't see that. Now of course i have to check this out!
ReplyDelete"Nothing As It Seems"
ReplyDeleteI like this one much better than last weeks.
I've thought about doing things much worse than that. Go ahead, and beg Wyman and Pinkner to kill me off.
ReplyDeleteSheesh.
Isn't that from the first season's blue opening credits? Hmmm... Interesting that they'd be on this season's credits too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's not MOTW...I think the writers are trying to tell us that none of those events, we took as viewers, as stand alone episodes, aren't really, or aren't any more.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear since the genetic projects now stem back to Jones, and that Jones lived on in this time line, we get to see what ZFT (and by extension from yet another timeline The End of Dayers) were trying to do, which may be reflective to the Observers own existence.
ReplyDeleteIt's playing on "Batman".
ReplyDeleteBut I think it might just be another step along the way...there's the one episode were Bats were apart of the mix too (the one where Charlie get impregnated) --I can't remember what Walter said about them, but I thought there was something interesting. I'll have to go check it out and get back to ya!
I don't know about this one...
ReplyDeleteSorry about the response above. Clearly you got it!
ReplyDeleteOnly female kangaroos have pouches.
ReplyDeleteThe crimson King would have to change identities in each iterations, but the 'original' or the real one in charge may not have been presented to us...
ReplyDeleteWe know that Walternate, Jones, and/or Meana play a similar roles....so what ever the 'original' is, most likely centers around another Massive Dynamic, as MD might actually be either the TDT or Ka-tet corp....
I love this episode for the fact of the previous season's callback (porcumen, worm, the shrink, Markham), Peter/Walter's hug, Peter/Olivia working together.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have no clue of is DRJ's endgame. It left me dumb-brained.
Its been around since the first episode, as sort of an easter egg.
ReplyDeleteAll colors of the credit sequences have this flash. It was first noticed in season one, but it has continued in all opening credits since.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best episodes this season. I love the direction Fringe is going.
ReplyDeleteLoved it - it wasn't the most exciting Fringe episode but it had me so intrigued. What is Jones up to??
ReplyDeleteLoved all the relatiionship stuff - Olivia and Peter, Walter and Peter, Peter and Lincoln having a talk about Olivia, and Broyles and Olivia - there is no Fringe division without Olivia (I feel like we haven't seen much of Broyles lately though - would like to see him do more).
ReplyDeleteI mean, don't get me wrong, I much prefer the mythology episodes, by a long-shot, but really? Porcubats? They are MOTW fodder. Season 1 had it right.
I always felt that all FRINGE events are related to the original time line, and/or the time line the Observers were/are created....
ReplyDeleteTheory: Creating the Perfect Soldier: The Evolution of the Observers
http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=23330
IMO the writers are picking out things that were unresolved to make a point that everything that happens in any time line still relates to the relativity of a family of universes and repeating, but also manifesting events (like strong DNA), are reflecting what ever originally happened, as a means to attempting to show us a much bigger truth to 'reality' itself and the idea of incarnation-procreation.
That was exactly my thought.....
ReplyDeleteEach creature-mutation we pairs. One pair (maybe more) - male/female of each new
creature-mutation. They seemed to be showing us that they were couples who were choosing to be changed, but going in, they were Loving Couples.
I also agree that shows that we're thought as stand alone eps are all starting to tie into each other.
I think it definitely ties into the myth arc.. no doubt.
ReplyDeleteThe beast.. (or Porcubat... or Bat-Quill as I prefer to call it) was still the "monster" of the week or case of the week as it were.
Sometimes it gets confusing calling the week's case the MOTW when it is not a MOTW in the more specific sense meaning not related to the serial myth arc.
*Shrug*
haha. best comment ever.
ReplyDeleteI think when the season started it was gone...It's been in the opening credits always with the exception of the last episode of season three (the word "hope" is there instead) and I thought it wasn't there when 4th season started...but I will have to check back just to make sure...
ReplyDeleteCool. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour Welcome! I know how busy you have been today.I haven't watched Fringe again that is why i haven't been in contact with you.I have been trying to not read the comments, which is pretty funny considering i'm here,ha! I hope to get to it tonight if not tomorrow.. :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes good sense. And I think it is a clever way of showing how the various timelines are linked.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that irks me though (changing the subject a bit) is the plane scene.
(Simulation hypothesis)
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis
Good point,i agree..i'm reading the rest!
ReplyDeleteSomeone better call Helen Magnus from Sanctuary and tell her theres abnormals on a ship in the middle of the ocean lol
ReplyDeleteThose of you who watch the ending of the episode on fringe would know what to say next.
ReplyDeleteCall Helen Magnus from Sanctuary and tell her theres abnormals on a ship in the middle of the ocean lol
I thought it was a weak episode. I was kind of cool that they went back to a S1 case, but I didn´t really like how it turned out.
ReplyDeleteAnd the whole Olivia/Peter thing is kind of bothering me. I think it just seems to easy to say "oh, you were in the right universe this whole time and now Olivia is remembering everything".
I´m missing the other universe. I like the interaction between the two and hope for more of that before the end of this season.
I liked it.
ReplyDelete- Lots of great callbacks.
- So was that cargo ship some sort of messed up Noah's Arc or something?
it was very good. A old case!
ReplyDeleteI liked the episode and I am happy that Olivia is an agent again, but its always "funny" when in procedural shows the main character disobey the boss and put a partner on danger or even destroy some lab but at the end he/she always get praise instead of a recriminating speech by the boss. LOL this does NOT happen in Spain (In real life, I mean)
ReplyDeleteyes, you have a point. but at this stage almost everything points back to some myth arc and this episode felt very self-contained and the references to DRJ felt a bit contrived, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to revisit ZFT storyline, I hope we get closure on that!
