Below are the results of the In The Hot Seat competition. It seems that most people were able to decipher which shows were which with relative ease and few surprises. From some of the feedback I got I believe that I will make a number of changes if we decide to do it again next year. Among these changes, combining all of the graphs so that you can more easily compare the shows. Until then, see what you cancelled and enjoy!
Aw, Alcatraz got cancelled with this. I'm suspecting it will be. (Hey, at least I didn't cancel Raising Hope like I thought I did.)

ReplyDeleteWow. 90210 scored a renewal?! Whitney too. Not too surprising otherwise. I tried to be fair when I voted. Even if I knew what show it was, I voted purely on the numbers, which I think was supposed to be the point of the exercise. As a result, I am fairly certain I cancelled Good Wife and Fringe. BUT I LOVE THEM BOTH AND WOULD BE DEVASTATED TO LOSE THEM. Just to make that clear. :P

ReplyDeleteI was very surprised with the 90210 and Unforgettable renewals. Not so much with the Good Wife and Fringe as they are fan favorites. It will be interesting to see how these compare to reality as they have all ready differed with Terra Nova.

I ended up cancelling Castle! I don't want that to happen. I didn't end up cancelling any of my other faves though.

ReplyDeleteI also cancelled a few shows I really want to return. Taking it purely by the numbers like we were supposed to, there wasn't much choice. I would hate to be a net executive put in the same position of personal favorites versus business.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I don't personally think that 2 1/2 men will be cancelled. The graph made the appearance that it dropped a lot, which it did. However it started at 30 mil, and you can't really go up. As long as Ashton Kutcher signs for next season I'd say it's a for sure.
ReplyDeleteYeah in that position I don't think I could watch any of the shows. It would just be too difficult to decide if I liked it and the numbers sucked. Cough Fringe Cough Alcatraz.
ReplyDeleteIt's not doing bad. There was a huge drop after the premiere, which had ridiculous numbers. But the ratings after that were pretty solid. It also has something like 5.4 demo. That's a very, very good number. As long as Ashton signs on for another season I definitely don't see this going anywhere. I suspect most people here cancelled it because they knew what show it was when they were doing it and there aren't a lot of fans of the show here.

Thanks for that. maybe there can be 8-10 shows from each network next time and tell people they have to cut x amount of shows in order to make room for x number of pilots, whatever makes sense for that particular network. That would force people to cancel things. I read a lot of comments stating that they renewed everything because they did not want to inadvertently cancel their favorite show.
ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of 90210 but they do have medium high ratings for the CW. There are plenty of shows on the netlet that get worse ratings than 90210 so it's a fair bet it will be back with a full order next year provided the ratings don't tank this spring.
ReplyDeleteHmm... I don't know why I had it in my head that they had super low ratings this season. I don't watch it either, but I thought it was in bad shape from the Cancellation Predictor Table. Good for them.

ReplyDelete90210 is actually the 5th highest show on the CW after Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Supernatural, and Secret Circle. Since One Tree Hill is in its final season, it is basically fourth in probably returning shows, especially since Secret Circle is only higher because it debuted much, much higher.

ReplyDeleteWell i must admit when it came to the shows on Fox i intentionally didn't cancel any of them.Wrong,yes..but if Fringe was going to be cancelled i didn't want to be a part of it,and in my opinion those numbers didn't warrant a cancellation.Excuses? maybe,bias definitely! All i can say is i'm sorry Brandon i know you put a lot of your own time in this...i promise to do bettter the next time.

ReplyDeleteI can't see Secret Circle getting cancelled. I refuse to accept that and I am going to make sure it does not happen. That show is amazing, I almost stopped watching Vampire Diaries because I read the books to VD and did not enjoy them. The tv show is good though; however, I ADORE secret circle and I am not going to let it get cancelled until the producer says it is. Btw, am I suppose to be able to see more then 1 sheet because only 1 shows up?

ReplyDeleteWhat am I missing here? THe Secret Circle gets the 2nd/3rd best viewing numbers for the CW each week, far above 90210, Nikita, Ringer, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie and ANTM. Why is everyone saying it's gonna get cancelled? Why have some of the shows below it been hanging on for years and TSC is apparently getting the bullet? The Secret Circle is performing much better, both in numbers and quality, than 90210.
