Fringe - Season 4 - Casting News - Rebecca Mader to Guest

Thanks to Bruce_F and vargesz for the heads up.

Fringe ended last season with a disappearing act for Peter. In May's season finale, it's Olivia who'll be getting lost. Well, she'll be getting a visit from a Lost alum, Rebecca Mader, who played Charlotte.

Rebecca's character, Jessica, appears in the last two episodes of the season (or series, depending on whether or not Fox picks it up). Producers are keeping quiet on specifics, but they tell me Jessica is a strong, brave woman involved in a case linked to supervillain David Robert Jones.

"She will have an emotional connection with Olivia," adds executive producer J.H. Wyman. "They may find out they have more in common then they first thought."

Jessica will go on to interact with both Peter and Walter, but I got a firm "no comment" when asked if she could turn out to be a love interest for Peter or if she could return should the series be back for a fifth season. "To answer those questions would reveal a little too much," says executive producer Jeff Pinkner. "The finale in many ways is our characters' final battle."

  1. I've been waiting for her to show up in Fringe. She is a huge fan in her on right. Plus she's a hot British redhead. What more could we ask for in a Fringe guest star?

  2. Rebecca Mader *-* I miss Lost. I miss Charlotte and can't wait to see her on Fringe.

  3. The finale in many ways is our characters' final battle? What's that supposed to mean? It's scaring me.

  4. I called it back when Work It premiered. I don't know whether to be happy (because I liked her on Lost) or sad (because every show she's been on since Lost has been cancelled).

  5. HELL YESS!! Needed some Mader in my life! (cause I wasn't going to watch Work It, nope)

  6. I was SO hoping when they interviewed her and used her "audition" for Peter Bishop ::wink:: that she would actually guest star! So happy about this!

  7. "Love interest for Peter?" In what world does that make sense?

  8. I see it as saying, "this is the characters final battle of the season".

  9. I always wanted to use her appearence as a Fringe fan-fiction character, a time traveling terrorist,Johanna Aires, but I never got past a few paragraphs!

But I am so glad she'll be in the last few eps...I kind of wonder if she will not just relate to Olivia, but Nina in some way....

  10.  In any world where Rebecca Mader exists.  :P

  11. Yeah............WT*!!!??

  12. This is fantastic I know she is a huge fan of the show and I love it when the JJ universe crosses over

  13. Maybe she is young Nina. There's some serious shit going down in these next few episodes, and I can't figure it out. At the end of last season (when pictures surfaced of the 2026 set), I theorized Olivia would appear to be killed off and turn out to be alive; and the team would figure out how to move on with their lives (like a certain show that our new redhead was on that started with a L and ended with OST). Obviously that didn't happen, but the way this article was written indicates they may take a similar path.

But what could happen to Olivia that would get her out of the picture? I don't think they're really going to kill her off, but then again nobody predicted this whole mess with Peter. I think we're going back to 2026, though.

Another thing, I had an epiphany about 4.19. I was over at TV Line earlier this week, reading Michael Ausiello's spoilers on a bunch of different TV shows (Fringe among them); and in the comments there was a man who claimed to have insider knowledge about Fringe. I highly doubt that, but he gave a hint about 4.19: "David Bowie". Now, David Bowie's real name is David Robert Jones (does that name ring a bell), and it occurred to me: What if 4.19 isn't about the Observer's home timeline, but a timeline where whatever Jones is trying to do succeeds?

  14. This is wierd because I just said the same thing to Laura about David Bowie here:

  15. I'm scared now that something bad might happen to Olivia. Nooooo!
But I'm pretty happy that Rebecca Mader is going to guest on Fringe.
She's such a big fan of this show.

  16. Whoa, that's freaky. Great minds think alike, I suppose. Maybe Jones is trying to go to the home timeline of the Observers.

  17.  Oh Darth that was so good! it gave me belly laughs,i forgot Josh was in it at the end lol him in that hat....but he could make a good Observer, just saying!

I knew something good was going to get thrown into the mix but wow Olivia and her might have something in common, what related wise? And whats with this being a final battle? Its getting crazy now that we are getting down to the wire........

  18. It's great they bring the old LOST cast to Fringe. Henry Ian Cusick played the best character in LOST. And Now Rebecca played a character that died before I got sick of her :D.

But wtf about that "characters' final battle"? If we get another season are they gonna be all happy and stoned on Walter's medication or what?

  19. hmmm"She will have an emotional connection with Olivia"?
    cortex kid?

  20. That line worries me too.  I'll keeping hoping for season 5 though.

final battle!!! what?!?!?!?!?!? That doesn't sound good! What's up with that we want SEASON 5

  22. Who knows what in the heck they're gonna do...I mean if they really wanted to explore more comparative relative realities they could have different looking characters in the roles of our characters as counter parts....but I could also see Olivia needing a body...or something else completely off the wall.

  23. I'd read on tvline that she was a big fan of the show so good for her.

  24. if were talking about timelines+what the observer said in 4.14: what if she's peter's & olivia's kid from the future?

  28. So I was just chatting about RM to a few people who didn't character on LOST and so I did a little rebutle...but I realize just what a good idea it was to cast her, because of what she means to Daniel Faraday...

"I think Charlotte was intentionally written as an unlikable character, but once I saw "The Other Women", and "This Place is Death" I knew her career choice reflected that she did care about people and the Island, and that she was on a journey of self discovery that was sadly, in this iteration, short lived. She was a character whom probably in the next iteration would have warmed up, as she might have gotten closer to Daniel Faraday---Faraday, like Desmond were both characters who were trying to get back to and/or save the women they loved much like Peter Bishop. Faraday in terms of his attempting to understand time loops (iterations/branch offs of time) is VERY similar experience Peter is having (especially in "Peter and the Machine").

I never hated Charlotte, but felt like her cooler exterior was just the only way she could deal with what she was going through, as she and Daniel saved the Island's inhabitants from being purged again, while also proving to herself that this place stuck in her head that parents said never really existed, actually did. IMO this iteration didn't give us a chance to know her, because it wasn't her turn. (FS = the ones that move on don't have to directly deal with the Island in the next iteration, everyone else still has "work to do.") One of my favorite scenes was when she took on Juliet! --She showed as an actress what a good fighter she is! She is one of my favorite female characters but I am looking forward to how both she and Mr. Cusick will be rewoven into FRINGE."

  29. Yeah "The final Battle" is a crazy phrase...but thinking about things like First People coming from one end of a time line back to another point and creating an alternate reality, and things about reincarnation and/or ethereal planes of existence....perhaps the word "finale" is a double-edged sword....just like "The End" is a double edge sword, because it could mean the end of something, but simultaneously also be the beginning, shift,  and transformation of other cycles.

But I do think they probably made an episode that could serve as a finale and that whatever would be "back door" to season 5 doesn't necessarily have to have us go there to understand what Fringe is suppose to mean. (But I am still hoping!)
