In an episode slated for spring, Adam Baldwin, who played Firefly's Jayne Cobb to Nathan's Capt. Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds, will guest star as a detective named Ethan Slaughter. (How's that for a character name?)
Slaughter is described to me as a rough and tumble cop from the city's gang unit who lands a case that Castle is desperate to follow. Along the way, Slaughter shows Castle a dirtier side of police work that forces Castle to reconsider what he's willing to do to close a case. As the season nears its cliffhanging conclusion, expect this new alliance to place Castle in the line of fire like never before.

Yay! This is awesome. (Well, I hate Adam, but I love him as an actor, so it's still going to be awesome!)
ReplyDeleteThis made my day! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is the most AWESOME news EVER!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you hate Adam?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the best thing to do is tell you to check out his Twitter. The man is nuts.
ReplyDeleteJust did a quick scan through, didn't notice too much weird stuff just a lot of political and quotes from some book in the bible. Or maybe I just don't understand Twitter. But I did notice he posts a lot of freaking stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just checked too. His older Tweets are the worst ones. He's homophobic, pro-life, and although not as bad as the other things, he hates the Obamas.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad for him that he's homophobic and is pro-life, but those are his beliefs so I won't judge just disappointed. Too bad, guess I'll be like you and enjoy him as an actor.
ReplyDeletedon't care what he's about loved him on Firefly loved him on chuck and will love him on Castle I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteTerrific news.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Yes yes yes yes!!!!! A Firefly easter egg-reference-winkwink is mandatory!
ReplyDeleteI love this news. Always liked his work.
ReplyDeleteLove this news! I can just imagine the possible nods to Firefly they might slip in... like perhaps Ethan Slaughter named his favorite gun "Vera" or something like that.... lol
ReplyDeleteJust because his political beliefs are not the same as yours is no reason to "hate" or be "disappointed", the best thing to do is to respectfully disagree. Everyone has a right to their own opinion after all...
ReplyDeletevJayne! The Man they call Jayne! He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
ReplyDeleteThat would be perfect! There hasn't been enough Firefly nods recently *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI'm crying a little bit. OMG
ReplyDeletegreat :)
ReplyDeletehum that means what i was thinking an cliffenger with castle hurts
ReplyDeleteand i think it's about kate's mum
This is fantastic news, I am really looking forward to seeing this episode :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful news, can't wait to see him!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, oh boy, oh boy.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just that. The man's said a lot of crazy things.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be awesome!
ReplyDeleteA celebrity that dares to be conservative (no matter if I agree with all of his beliefs or not) in Hollywood where that can be the death of your career just makes me respect him more.
ReplyDeletewow, i thought i was the only one thinking that ! XD
ReplyDeleteCHUCK FOREVER....baldwin is great great and great
ReplyDeleteHis WIFE should be named Vera!
ReplyDeleteAgree, I'm guessing Castle goes a little too far to try to solve Kate's mom's murder. He gets hurt and that's how Beckett finds out his secret - would make for an awesome cliff hanger. Extremely, excited for the Firefly reunion.
ReplyDeleteI may have died of excitement when I read this last night... SO excited! I can see the episode being full of allusions.. maybe a rousing chorus of "The Man They Call Jayne"? ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun episode!
ReplyDeleteNot only is it great that Baldwin is going to guest star but it's made all the better that his role isn't just a gimmicky cameo. It would seem his role will be of some importance.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Jason. I am against almost everything Adam writes, but I believe he should be respected for having the guts to talk/write about what he believes in. People - specially celebs - are so "neutral" and politically correct nowadays that it is a breath of fresh air to see an actor dare to be different. Even though I couldn't be more against his views of the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's exactly what I thought! I am already dying to see which Firefly reference it will be...
ReplyDeleteShiny!
Sounds great!
ReplyDeleteSo excited!! Hopefully this is the start of many Firefly alumni guesting on Castle...
ReplyDeleteMorena Baccarin did two episodes of the Mentalist recently, so a Mal-Innara reunion could happen; and Alan Tudyk would be a perfect fit for the witty humor of the show. Just sayin'.
HAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love Adam Baldwin & can't wait to see him on Castle :)
