Good News or Bad News? You decide!

AX: You said you know where this is all going. How many seasons do you think you need for VAMPIRE DIARIES to get to where it’s going?
WILLIAMSON: We could wrap this thing up in six.
AX: Do you have any plan to accelerate it if you have to?
WILLIAMSON: Yes. We have no problem pacing ourselves. We’ll pace it up if we have to.
AX: By the same token, could you extend it past what you currently have planned?
WILLIAMSON: We can extend it with no problems, but we know that if we needed an endgame by, say, Season Six, we could land. We could also extend.

  1. 6 seasons? I CANT BEAR TO THINK OF IT ENDING! I MAY HAVE TO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE!! :-(

  2. Good news that they have an endgame in mind. I hate when shows lose direction because the writers don't know where to go next.

  3. Wow, six seasons?  I don't see them having any issues getting there, and I'm glad they actually have an end in mind.  A little direction never hurt anyone.

  4. happened with heroes. they kept saying they don't have an end game and the stories got worse and worse as the seasons went on..

  5. I hope they do well over 6 seasons TVD is one of the best shows on tv

  6. I like they have a plan, clear endgame is a first sign of the success;)

  7.  It being the biggest performer for CW, I can't imagine them ending it without a fight. CW won't want to let it go!

  8. So they are giving 6 seasons to TVD and not a fifth season to Fringe.Seriously?
I love TVD but 6 seasons are too many IMO...

  9. This is the first I've heard of the increased role that Alaric will play toward the end of the season.  I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more.

  10. The thing I like about Kevin Williamson is that he really knows how to tell a story! I'm happy there's direction and an endgame for the show because that means that the plot will less likely feel convoluted and contrived.

  11. Agreed. And I find it comforting that they sound as if they have contingency plans for the show being shortened or lengthened. As a viewer I feel somewhat insulted if a new season of a show feels as if the renewal came as a total surprise to everyone working on it.

  12. it was in something else that I think Julie said. Cant remember but I heard he was coming back to having an important role again

  13. Let's see the ratings for S6 first. We all know how it's going for Gossip Girl, yes?

  14. Except, it doesn't seem like he's much involved in TVD anymore. And S3 has definitely been a mess. It's mid-season and there's still no sense of direction. I'm afraid Julie Plec is running the show and she reads too much fanfiction.

  15.  I could say the same about Supernatural but they don't want to let that go either.
