Mark Piznarski who directed the pilots of Everwood, Veronica Mars and Gossip Girl will be directing The pilot for The Selection the adaptation of the forthcoming series of books by Kiera Cass set 300 years in the future, which centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads.

    This is SUCH A GREAT NEWS!! I really loved the pilot of Veronica Mars, and the pilot of Everwood and Gossip girl were great too! 
    I hope it can trasform the series in a cult for the CW

    I liked two of the three he directed but in all honesty this is a point of worry for me.  I hope this show is more action oriented and less drama.  I loved Everwood (with an obsession for two of its years) and Veronica Mars rocked, but I kind of wish this was being directed by someone with more of a cable action background.  Of course I guess it's really the writing I should be worried about more than the directing.

    He is quite a good director so at least visually it will probably be quite complelling...
