Honestly, this episode was kind of.. okay, but pointless. I miss the days when SPN had a uniting theme. Overall, it was okay. But the preview for next week's episode was definitely promising. Bring back the non-campy days of SPN!
In the ''days'' we had monster of the week episode with fun bro interactions. that was the ''uniting theme'' and We just had a funny monster of the week with bro interactions
I would have loved them paying homage to John Candy with his clown-punch-in-the-nose from Uncle Buck. Disappointed no rubber chickens were harmed in the filming.
Wow, what an awesome episode! It had me smiling from the opening scene. It just felt like a Supernatural episode the way they used to be. And some of the lines.. Dick on Dick.. Ball Washer.... I really don't even know where to start. Finally an episode where they were brothers again. No real angst, no Dean beating himself up, no Dean drinking.. And Sam was actually Sam for a change. And the best part? Dean laughing from the heart, a real genuine laugh. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw that.
Yeah but the camp was more rare, making it more special. I used to love hilarious episodes. Now I miss the serious ones. And in the 'days' the uniting theme was first, finding/helping their father with YED, helping Sam avoid becoming YED's pawn, trying to keep Dean from hell, trying to avoid the apocalypse, trying to stop the apocalypse.. to wtf was season 6, to WTF Camp Camp character death, camp camp, character death...
Ok, every season's got those few isolated episodes that I just know I'll be watching over and over. This is definitely one! A good, classic Supernatural episode...just the guys and a case and no overlying story arc...sigh, just the way I love 'em! Loved the brotherly banter. Loved the story of the episode. Just the right balance of creepy and funny. I have to say...Vamptopus...my new favorite word! And great jobs by both Jared and Jensen. Sam facing down his fears was just classic and damn, was it nice to see a bit of the old Dean back again. When was the last time we actually saw him laugh? Dare I say Dabb and Loflin have redeemed themselves after Time For A Wedding? This was a definite 10 of 10!
Honestly, I enjoyed this episode very much. Poor Sammy, came back to Dean in the end looking as if he'd gotten lost in a confetti factory. Excellent, excellent, episode.
What the hell are you talking about with the camp? If anything they've been TOO serious until the last two episodes. For me, this was a breath of fresh air. For me, Sera's been trying to put too much emphasis on the overlying story arc and had lost sight of the brothers, so it was nice to see the focus back on them.
clowns kill, sharks are in ball pits, there are such things as ball cleaners, unicorns shoot rainbows out their ass, and spoiler alert: Sam gets sprayed with a clowns flower and ends up covered in stripper glitter! oh how I've missed these type of episodes :)
Not every single episode of every single season was center on their main problems and some even barely had one sentence about the main theme before going to the hunt of the week. In season 1 and 2 we only had couple of eps where its was 100% focus on the main arc
And everyone's been complaining all season long they wanted more brothers interaction, we had some great tonight
I'm with you on this one. Way too serious, depressing in the last weeks (...season), and if you consider that next week its Lucifer's return and Cas's returning very soon too. having just one really fun stand-alone is refreshing :)
My 2 favorite things, Sam saying We got dick on Dick and the Unicorn with rainbows coming out of its ass. Enjoyed the whole eps, except for Sam getting beat up by the clowns, that was cruel and unusual punishment. lol
This was a great episode. I think I enjoyed it more than any since TMWWBK. It definitely felt like old SPN and I don't think I can find anything to criticize about it. OK, maybe I can. I'm not sure the time jumps were as smooth as they could have been, but that's a very minor gripe.
My one bigger gripe isn't really about the episode, but about the season as a whole, and that's the continuity in the portraying of what's going on with Sam. Last episode there were clear indications that he's starting to come unraveled, but with this one (aside from his fear of the clowns), he seemed just fine. Second gripe is that his hair was driving me nuts because I'm superficial like that (again, an issue with the season, not the episode).
But back to the positive. Great banter between Sam and Dean. Awesome clowns. And don't shoot me - I've been loving over the past few episodes watching them work through these puzzles without calling Bobby for an easy answer. Sam, Dean, and the writers are having to work a little harder, and there's a difference in the quality as a result. On an unrelated note, I was hoping for a shark fin in the ball tank, but oh well.
Awesome episode. The clowns weregreat they would make anybody afraid of them. Jensen and Jared did a great job. Loved the last scene the boy's laughing it has been a long time it was great to see.Love the rainbow comming oput of the unicorn butt. Next weeks look great Lucy comes back can't wait to see what he does to poor Sammy.
Agreed on them working the cases out by themselves...I'm loving that too.
As for the continuity witth Sam, I hear you but I actually don't mind. If it was continual harping on his psychological issues it would get awfully depressing awfully quick. I like having a reprieve from it every once in a while.
And I thought the same thing about the time jumps but I loved "RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW"! :D
It would deserve the awesome vote if only for the fact that the brothers laughed together. Really laughed. It's been ages since that happened and exactly the break I needed before heading into the emoangst drama in our future.
I think I know what you mean. Even though there were lots of MOTW and occasional funny epsiodes, there was the feeling that something big and bad was gradually building, and to quote Ellen "and you boys are smack in the middle." We're not getting that kind of tension this season with the Leviathans. We're told they're big and bad, but I'm not feeling it yet.
Okay, this wasn't as much of a train wreck as I thought it was going to be haha.. Sam was absolutely adorable when he thought about the mere prospect of seeing any clowns.. and all I could picture was Booth gunning the entire place down ;) This episode was a decent filler, and had me smiling from the very start. It was definitely a nice sidebar from all the angst and darkness of the rest of the season - and was probably the calm before the storm. We have some seriously dark stuff ahead, so I guess it was nice for a little reprieve... but now it's time to get down to the stuff that's magically floated away - Leviathans and Lucifer!
I definitely missed this side of Dean - he's been spiraling for a while now, and it was so nice to see he and Sam regress to those big brother/little brother roles, with all the teasing and kidding around. I miss that! It's not going to last long, though :( Sam's about to start his descent into crazytown.
It's not that I want constantly depressing, but the portrayal of Sam in this episode makes last week's Sam seem completely out of character. If there was a gradual build up to where he was last week (I mean the frustration with Dean and the edginess), then it would been great character development and would have made a lot of sense, but he and Dean change so much from episode to episode that this inconsistency takes away from the story.
Awesome = a unicorn shooting rainbows out its ass - just saying. And another awesome for the end with Dean actually laughing and Sam just letting his big brother laugh at his expense because he knew needed it. Carefree brothers for now :)
The rainbows were absolutely priceless... I seriously couldn't stop laughing! Just when I thought Supernatural wouldn't ACTUALLY go there... they do love to surprise us :)
I totally planned on watching this episode and then going to bed (lame, but I have to be up for work at 5:30 in the morning!), but now I'm a little creeped out.
I had issue with Sam's apparent sanity as well - isn't he supposed to be on his way to crazytown like.. next week? You'd think he'd be a little less okay at this point.. but hey, I guess we should cling to a final moment of happiness before everything goes south.
And the hair? It was especially cringeworthy when he was talking to the little girl that was drawing on her driveway - if you squint a little, I'm pretty sure he actually looks more like a woman.
Since the uniting theme this season seems to be "Being a Winchester sucks out loud," I was glad to get a light episode. No major character death. No emoangsting about dead daughters/nieces. (Dodged a bullet with that one.) Lots of one-liners and the biggest thrill of all, brothers really laughing together, no holds barred. It's one of the major things I've been waiting for since the angels came, so I'm one happy fan.
Welcome to SpoilerTV Debbie. Love your description. My first thought when Sam stepped out looking like a princess party threw up on him was that if they were driving the Impala, there would be no way Dean would let him in the car. Such a great way to end the episode. Brothers happy, laughing, and one the same page.
OK I found it... About 24 Minutes in...but I was wrong... He is talking about shark week, and as Sam walks away, he says "the whole week, sharks"...but it's slurred together like "Holy Chuck" XD
I had just started saying to my sister... "Too bad the unicorn doesn't have rainbows... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Before I could even get the comment out, the unicorn turned away and poof.... HAHAHAHAHAHA! LOL!
I'm not entirely sure what to rate this one. I'll admit, I chuckled quite a bit and I downright laughed out loud when Sam stepped out of the car covered in glitter and Dean just busted out laughing. It was nice to see him laugh. Apparently Sam thought so, too. The plot was pretty straightforward and the bad guy was easy to spot, and I have never seen creepier clowns in my life. That being said, there was just something missing for me. Not sure what. The boys were working the case, they were on the same page. Dean found the bad guy and figured out how to stop him (the drowned brother was cool!) and Sam fighting clowns was very amusing... but I think it lacked heart, ya know? I'm glad we got a funny episode, but I like the funny episodes that have a reason to be funny as opposed to just going for the laughs. I'm sure that made no sense at all. Maybe I just need to watch it again.
Not bad. - The unicorn was very amusing. I wasn't expecting the rainbows to emanate from its ass. - Sam and the clowns is what made this episode. If it wasn't for that, it would have been relatively boring. - The countdown clock to "Right Friggin' Now" was pretty damn funny. - Creepy menacing clowns are always entertaining, yet joyful laughing clowns are always creepy and menacing. Go figure. - Ball pits are disgusting and always have been. - It was quite an achievement for Dean to skulk around Plucky's without seeming like a sex offender. - It was nice of Sam at the end to just stand there, take Dean's jabs, and encourage him to keep going because he was enjoying himself. It's probably the first time in a long time.
One day Sam will defeat his coulrophobia and lead an evil clown army into hell to overthrow Crowley. Why? Just because.
The episode was pure SPN at its best. I loved the story. I loved how Sam had to face his fears. Dean's decision to give up everything I likes was funny. I have no idea how long he'll hold out on that. His interaction with the little boy was precious. I loved his desire to get that slinky. Bless his heart. Sam's stealing one for him was awesome. I loved the laughter. So did Sam. You could see it in his face when he told Dean to just keep on. It was perfect.
How so? And where is this info coming from? I'm genuinely asking, not being snarky, because I'm a pretty faithful spoiler-whore and I haven't come across ANYTHING about Sam's hair having a purpose, other than JP saying that they've kept his hair longer to make him look older/less boyish/harsher to go along with the character growth (not sure that works in practice, but oh well).
I would LOVE to see the return of season 1 or season 2 Sam-hair. Please say that it gets cut in a future ep!
It reminded me some of that ep, yeah, but only because they were giving each other gifts (something we don't ever really see in this show other than that ep and this one) and because Dean says "I got you a little something too", which I believe he also says in AVSC. I don't think it was a knock-off or anything, though, just familiar. Probably because we don't ever see them exchange gifts, so of course when they do for just the 2nd time it's going to remind us of the only other time we've seen that in the show.
Loved it! Lots of hilarious moments and great one-liners and brotherly moments ("ball-washer" lol). I spit soda all over myself when the rainbows shot out of the unicorn's ass. Priceless. Poor Sammy's face when he thought about/encountered/was attacked by the clowns! He looked like a six-something foot tall terrified child LOL. The clowns were creepy as hell, and they really captured the total sensory-overload manic-ness of those Chuck E. Cheese type places. The end was adorable, with the laughter and the teasing. You could tell that the Js were nto acting when they were laughing - that was real amusement, which just makes that scene so much more adorable and fun.
And Sam covered in glitter! When he spit out that little puff of glitter I almost peed myself laughing. He looked like he'd been at the bottom of a pig-pile of drag queens!
Glad for this light-hearted ep before the darkness on the horizon with Sam going crazy. Next week looks intense and dark and creepy, which I love, and hopefully we'll get some good Sam POV to start balancing out the plethora of Dean-centric eps that made up the first half of the season.
I thought that it was cute. The part that made me LOL (literally) was Dean laughing at the end at Sam. It really felt like an old school episode although I'm not so fond of these filler episodes now that it is all angsty in the rest of the season--they don't balance out very well like they use to in my opinion maybe because of the uber-angst?
I always thought the rainbows were under the unicorn's hooves not coming out of their ass. LOL
Apparently taking tactical advice from the movie Predator isn't particularly effective.
Love the look on Sam's face when Dean asked him about Plucky's. :-D
The giant lion trying to get the door open to run was hysterical. Had to rewind to catch what I missed while laughing.
I WAS RIGHT! My guess for bad guy. Scrawny dude was too chipper.
Oh! Poor Sam! It's one thing to be terrified and running for your life from something trying to kill you but somehow it just seemed ever so much worse when Sam turned and saw something that already scared him. (hee hee. 'Right friggin now' nice touch)
to the creepy laugh at the end.
I really liked it but I'm wasn't completely fond of the repeated flash forward to Sam's fight bit. I didn't add to the ep for me.
It was nice to see Dean really laugh. Did anyone else get the feeling that Sam noted that as well; like he started to say something then decided against it?
I loved it. I seem to be saying that a lot in season 7, but it's true. The only eps I don't especially care for so far have been The Girl Next Door, and Defending Your Life - and even they had some great moments.
The fact that the boys were laughing with each other at the end this week was just perfect. I can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings.
But they have barely touched upon Sams problems this season hardly harping on. It has been Deans issues getting the 24 /7 treatment. If you are going to have Sam crash you have to build up to it not bring it up in a episode after a fun but good episode like this.
If anything they just simply havent done enough with Sam considering what he was dealing with.
When I watched the promos and everything, I was very wary of how this episode would turn out, especially after last week's disastrous hour. But I highly enjoyed it: the unicorn shooting rainbow from its ass? (Note to Sammy: Unicorns DO shoot rainbows out of their ass!) Poor Sam being all edgy around clowns? Dean with a childlike glee that we haven't seen in ages? This episode was great, having all the makings of a Supernatural classic comedy. I don't doubt that it will find its way onto the list of funniest Supernatural episodes of all time. It gets an "Awesome" from me, just for making me want to tune in again next week unlike last week's episode which nearly made me decide to record it to watch if I have any spare time.
I was a bit skeptical, whole time thinking this is kind of similar to the older days with just monster of the week but not as good and not what I want. But the ending of the episode, with the brother's joking and laughing together was easily the best part and enjoyable to see them actually smile.
Even so, I'm still tired of not having any progression on the Leviathan front and its getting kind of annoying, I suppose its the same feeling/problem people had with Season 5, except I enjoyed that season throughout. Don't know, I still enjoy the show, but its annoying me a bit more every week.
I like long hair on a man, but Sam's always looks unkempt for some reason that I can't put my finger on. Liked it better when it was just long enough in the front to fall in his eyes. I have read that Jared likes it this way and since he has to wear it, I can live with it. lol I will always love my favorite TV brothers, no matter what.
Just a heads up for all you Cas/Dean fans, they are in the finals for favorite couple and are losing to glee. You can vote here. http://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/tvs_top_couples_tournament_vote_in/293070
I thought it was just an awesome episode from beginning to end! Those flashback scenes to the clowns in season 2 were just perfect to set up this great one last night. I can see why the clowns beating Sam up could be considered therapeutic in some way. The guys were at their funniest, especially at the end of the episode. It was great seeing them laugh again, it has been a good while since we have seen that. Loved it! Cannot wait until next week!
I just read some comments that he gave at Nashcon and I can't remember whether it was from there or an interview, but he said that Sam gets rather "hairy" soon. Apparently he is getting so messed up that grooming issues are put on the back burner. Maybe that is what tvmonkey is referring to.
That was probably one of the best parts of the entire episode. They laughed like they didn't have a care in the world, like all they had to worry about was whatever hunt came their way. You could forget for a second that they lost Castiel, and Bobby, and that they still have no idea how to get rid of all the Leviathans. It was just two brothers laughing (and good-naturedly teasing) after a job well done. And that got really long and nostalgic, but hey.. I miss those times!
I saw an interview in which a fan at ComiCon asked JP what season was his favorite, hair-wise, and he stated season 3 (I think - it was an early season, for sure) and basically said that he didn't like the current look because it made him look like "all forehead", but that this was what the producers wanted for Sam because they were going for a more "mature" look for the character, trying to make him look less boyish by bulking up and growing his hair out. It didn't seem like JP liked the long hair at all, at least in that interview. I'll always love him no matter what his hair looks like (even if he had NO hair LOL) but I do wish they'd cut it. Maybe we should start a petition on JP' behalf? LOL
Season 1 might be a bit on the young side, but I think that since his face has matured a lot and he's bulked up overall he could make it work and it wouldn't look as young on him as it did season 1. I'd take anything before end of season 4 thought, and be happy! Just anything but this Fabio look he's got going on now.
BTW, I always mean to mention to you how CUTE the kitty in your userpic is! Is it yours?
Hmm... I would take that comment to mean that he probably gets scruffy and unshaven, but I wouldn't think that they'd have to grow out his hair for a few seasons just to make him look unkempt for a few eps. And since the long hair is standard on him at this point it doesn't seem like it would indicate grooming issues for him to have it long, you know? Like, it it were shorter, and then they used extensions or something to make it look longer and shaggier for a few eps to show that he's not cutting or brushing it, that would be a good way to show the grooming issues. But we're used to the long hair now, so long hair wouldn't scream "I'm not taking care of myself". Maybe he's just not brushing it? But they could do that with shorter hair, too. I like longer hair to a point, too, but for some reason I just don't like this cut at all. I think if he had some bangs or layering it would be okay, something to soften his forehead, and the sideburns NEED TO GO, in my opinion.
I hadn't heard the Die Hard news, but that's awesome. I love both the Js and I would love seeing them get the mainstream attention they deserve. Jared has said in an interview within the last year that he plans on sticking with Supernatural til the end, that he's devoted to the show and the fans for giving him his break and that he won't leave for anything else, so that's a relief, knowing that even if he makes it big he won't abandon us. I think that Jensen is probably of the same opinion, though I haven't heard it from him directly. I think they're both very devoted to us as fans and the show in general, and it seems like everyone involved in the show has so much fun and is so close that I can't imagine any of them abandoning it. They seem like they have a great family vibe going on set!
Yeah, it's been so long for such a while now that it doesn't seem like there's a specific, canon-related reason for it. If there were I don't think they'd grow it out for three seasons just for a few eps worth of canon.
Interesting that as the years go by, it's always Dean set up with kids. He seems to interact really well with them. The scenes last night between Dean and the little boy with the exhausted/bitchy employee mother were really nice.
I hear what both of you are saying, but honestly...what exactly do you want? Like I said, if they had 24/7 of Sam having conversations with an imaginary Lucifer it would get old really fast. I do agree that they kind of took a 180 after introducting the hallucinations to just reduce it to Sam squeezing his hand, but really that was the whole point up to now...Sam believing that he was coping and not wanting to dump his problems on Dean and now he's going to get to the point where the coping mechanism no longer works.
It's kind of similar to the way they handled the guys mourning Bobby's death, which was frustrating to me too because I wanted to see more from them but I've come to realize in both instances...mourning Bobby and Sam dealing with the hallucinations...they're trying to take a more "realistic" approach to it, showing those processes the way someone would actually go through them. It makes for frustrating viewing for us but I do think it has more integrity this way. SPN has never been the kind of show that neatly wraps everything up in an hour so if they started taking the simplistic route now it would be disappointing.
Think of it this way...anyone dealing with a psychological problem in real life usually has their good days and their bad days...they aren't totally on edge all day, every day...and that's the way it's been with Sam. They've represented it as an internal struggle up to now and now they're getting to a more external side of things. I just hope that there's some kind of resolution eventually and that they just don't leave Sam on the edge indefinitely.
I seriously don't think they think the canon that far ahead...at least not this season and last season, so I doubt that's the reason.
I don't mind the lengthh so much as the unwashed look. When you see Jared in interviews and at the cons, his hair looks gorgeous but for some reason on the show they have it looking stringy and gross. Just let Sam take a few more showers and all would be well. Oh, and agree on the sideburns...they have GOT to go!
Can't imagine what you're talking about...missing something? I thought this was one of the most complete, solid episodes they've had all season long. For ONCE we had the classic, Season 1/2 SPN feel again. This episode reminded me why I love this show so much!
Loved seeing Jared be the bad cop it was hilarious to see him intimidating people. Guess unicorns are real after all but they are evil =(. When Sam was interrogating the manager there was a sign at the back about the dress code which was really funny. For Men: no punk style haircuts stood out for me and for women it said no earrings but the manager was wearing earrings =P. Also do people really have to punch out when they go to the bathroom? That's just mean but I guess it doesn't pay to pee >_> (bad joke i know). Overall great episode, reminded us of why we love this show, it was a standard monster of the week no crazyness going around just your everyday Vamptopus and glitter. Still feel bad about Sam and the clowns hasn't he had enough!! I guess it's too expensive to get Dean on a plane to make him feel scared =P
They bit off a lot when they made Sam so damaged that he'd likely be a drooling mess on the floor. All of the type of character development we're seeing with Dean - getting to explore having a family and losing it, questioning why he's hunting, bonding with friends and girlfriends, losing love ones - all of that has been put on hold with Sam because he's so damaged that it's unrealistic that he could see much beyond the visions in his head. So if we're not getting anything else, at least we could get the visions and see Sam working through the trauma.
It was like this last year too. Sam wasn't being developed emotionally because he was soulless. Then he wasn't developed emotionally because he had a wall in his head and exploring his feelings might cause the wall to crash. With this season we were finally at a place where we could see Sam explore the trauma so that he could start to heal and move forward, but instead they put this storyline on hold for two-thirds of the season - and the writing has been so unclear we're not even sure how bad it is for him.
this episode was funny freaking awesome the best part sam fighting the clowns when finish all the gliter falling over him so cute and dean laughing fantastic.
I hear you. It is frustrating. I understand what it is that they're trying to achieve and the direction they've gone but I do think it could've been handled better but I'm still holding out hope that there will be some sort of positive resolution and we'll all be ultimately satisfied with the way it works out. Might be wishful thinking on my part, but we'll see.
There are no words that could describe how much I loved this episode and everything about it! But the best part was the end, to see boys laughing like that for the first time since like...I don't even know, was absolutely priceless!
That's because they put a lot of product on his hair trying to control it. His hair is kind of a live thing and when he moves his head at all it shifts. The product is an attempt to control it. I would love it if it was allowed to just be free like he wears it in public, but they have to have it look the same at the beginning of a scene and 2 hours later when they are doing the other coverage. I can't remember which con it was, but there was a time he ran his hand through his hair and a big chunk of it landed on the other side of his head, then later it was dead center again, then later tucked behind his ears, etc. That doesn't even count when the back goes under his collar, etc.
It was teh interaction with Lucas in Dead in the Water that turned Supernatural into an obsession with me. It's something about how these big, tough hunters scrunch down to be at eye level with hurting kids and actually listen to them (or in Lucas' case, relate to them). It's touching and heartfelt without seeming schmaltzy. While I watch Supernatural for the brothers, it's their interactions with kids that pull at my heartstrings each and every time.
Sorry. I will vote my fingers off for most Supernatural polls, but I will never vote for anything to do with destiel, wincest or any other non-canon pairing. (Except maybe Bobby/Jody LOL)
GOD again with the hair thing leave it the F alone already and with the die hard thing never going to happen with both of them sorry they are staying true to the show maybe if CW can the show allready they could go for it but we are getting a season 8 so.
i watch this episode again is the best comic episode of all jared exprecion of fear was so unique & awesome and the last scene it wasnt dean laughing is pure jensen, both actors enjoy so much these scene there reation was so real & honest i imajine everybody in the set laughing at the same time, hillarius.
i am a fan of the slinky toy too they also was made in metal i enjoy there sound when i trow it in the stairs or simply move in my hands good childhood memories.the actors love that scene because they surrender was so nature ,sincere like true brothers who loves each other & giving gifts for late celebration (memories from the past).
and when dean saw him with all that glitter & his coments something about stripper i am not sure was hillarius and when sam up his hand replaing said anything you want i will not regret nothing fantastic.dean laugh so contagious.
I don't know why everyone thinks couple has to be about SEX. I have never thought of Cas & Dean that way, but when they are on screen together I know some thing is going to happen to make me laugh or cry. Misha is so much fun as clueless Cas and the chemistry(not sexual) between Jensen and Misha is so much fun, even at Cons. I don't watch Glee so don't know if the other two couples are sexual or not. Just wanted to post the link so fans could vote or not.
my friend you miss understand me my opinion is not who you making love with how people interacts in specific situation in this poll is same gender thats it
I'm sorry but I can't vote for a couple poll, its making slash fans go more crazy.....there's still people who use as argument to prove that the slash is canon that ''they won the spoilertv contest!''
loved it .Everything about it ,it was back to basics no angels or devils just dean and sam making jokes to each other .And the clown at the end was like soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny i couldn't stop laughing .Smart episode
I agree with you and I thought it lacked a certain something undefinable... but it grew on me and I rated it Awesome but I watched it three times before I felt ready to rate it. As compared to BDABR. CYHIYB and TFM, that I loved immediately, PPMM was more like Tale Tales that I also had to watch several times before I appreciated it.
I hadn't read any of the Die Hard stuff but what tvmonkey is likely referring to the fact that Jared showed up at NashCon "scruffy, with facial hair" that isn't normal for "Sam" during the active filming season and the show was filming Episode 17 at the time. "Sam", per JP's recent interview, will have facial hair at some point during the episode and this (or maybe starting as early as late Ep 7.15, IDK) Sam will start to have trouble sleeping and go a significant length of time without sleeping.
"Sam" may have already started not getting his hair trimmed regularly as he used to, except for the last few seasons JP seems to be allowing his hair to grow anyway. (As with many fans, I love JP's hair even though I prefer it at S3 or S4 length, it's his sideburns so long that I dislike).
i am agree with you i saw this episode may be forth time in the end i rewinded a fastfoward just for hear jensen, contagius, hillarius laughing, jared reation during his laugh they acting the same way when something funny happen in the convention but the real end the clown closing one eyes and smile (may be thinking i will never forget you sam) very creapy funny.
This was so great, we were watching it and laughing our heads off it's been a while since we had a good ep where we got to see the brothers really just being the annoying siblings they are (like 5 seasons)
Everuthing about it is awesome: the unicorn, brothers together, Sam questioning the suspects, clowns, sparkes... Very funny and classic SPN. I prefer "Monster of the Week" episodes to "Fighting against Big Bad" episodes. Well done.

I loved everything about it! Poor Sam with the clowns! So freaking creepy.
ReplyDeleteThe end scene was so adorable. I loved the boys genuinely laughing and Sam giving Dean a slinky! So cute.
The Ball Washer.......nuff said!!!
ReplyDeleteOld School SPN :DDD!!! AWESOME
ReplyDeleteLOVED it!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, this episode was kind of.. okay, but pointless. I miss the days when SPN had a uniting theme. Overall, it was okay. But the preview for next week's episode was definitely promising. Bring back the non-campy days of SPN!
ReplyDeleteOk i did not think the past few episodes were good but this one was good and funny as hell Sam lol was at his best the clowns ah lol
ReplyDeleteIn the ''days'' we had monster of the week episode with fun bro interactions. that was the ''uniting theme'' and We just had a funny monster of the week with bro interactions
ReplyDeleteDefinitely enjoyable from end to end. Had a few one-liners, too. I really liked the way the unicorn and the clowns looked.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved them paying homage to John Candy with his clown-punch-in-the-nose from Uncle Buck. Disappointed no rubber chickens were harmed in the filming.
ReplyDeleteWow, what an awesome episode!
ReplyDeleteVamptopus... a whole new creature. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the episode, but now clowns scare me even more than they did after seeing Everybody Loves A Clown.
ReplyDeleteOk, every season's got those few isolated episodes that I just know I'll be watching over and over. This is definitely one!
ReplyDeleteA good, classic Supernatural episode...just the guys and a case and no overlying story arc...sigh, just the way I love 'em!
The unicorn was awesome...what a perfect nod to season 2! :D
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I enjoyed this episode very much. Poor Sammy, came back to Dean in the end looking as if he'd gotten lost in a confetti factory. Excellent, excellent, episode.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell are you talking about with the camp? If anything they've been TOO serious until the last two episodes. For me, this was a breath of fresh air. For me, Sera's been trying to put too much emphasis on the overlying story arc and had lost sight of the brothers, so it was nice to see the focus back on them.
ReplyDeleteSweet Merciful AWESOME O_O
ReplyDeleteclowns kill, sharks are in ball pits, there are such things as ball cleaners, unicorns shoot rainbows out their ass, and spoiler alert: Sam gets sprayed with a clowns flower and ends up covered in stripper glitter! oh how I've missed these type of episodes :)
ReplyDeleteNot every single episode of every single season was center on their main problems and some even barely had one sentence about the main theme before going to the hunt of the week. In season 1 and 2 we only had couple of eps where its was 100% focus on the main arc
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone's been complaining all season long they wanted more brothers interaction, we had some great tonight
Amen...I know it's what I've been looking for all season long.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one. Way too serious, depressing in the last weeks (...season), and if you consider that next week its Lucifer's return and Cas's returning very soon too. having just one really fun stand-alone is refreshing :)
ReplyDeleteMy 2 favorite things, Sam saying We got dick on Dick and the Unicorn with rainbows coming out of its ass. Enjoyed the whole eps, except for Sam getting beat up by the clowns, that was cruel and unusual punishment. lol
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. It was so nice to see Sam and Dean acting like Sam and Dean again.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great episode. I think I enjoyed it more than any since TMWWBK. It definitely felt like old SPN and I don't think I can find anything to criticize about it. OK, maybe I can. I'm not sure the time jumps were as smooth as they could have been, but that's a very minor gripe.
ReplyDeleteMy one bigger gripe isn't really about the episode, but about the season as a whole, and that's the continuity in the portraying of what's going on with Sam.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on them working the cases out by themselves...I'm loving that too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the continuity witth Sam, I hear you but I actually don't mind.
ReplyDeleteI think I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this wasn't as much of a train wreck as I thought it was going to be haha..
ReplyDeleteI definitely missed this side of Dean - he's been spiraling for a while now, and it was so nice to see he and Sam regress to those big brother/little brother roles, with all the teasing and kidding around. I miss that! It's not going to last long, though :( Sam's about to start his descent into crazytown.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I want constantly depressing, but the portrayal of Sam in this episode makes last week's Sam seem completely out of character. If there was a gradual build up to where he was last week (I mean the frustration with Dean and the edginess), then it would been great character development and would have made a lot of sense, but he and Dean change so much from episode to episode that this inconsistency takes away from the story.
ReplyDeleteKelly's house number was 667. lol
ReplyDeleteRight?! I thought I'd gotten over that, but this brought everything to the surface again.. *shudder*
ReplyDeleteAwesome = a unicorn shooting rainbows out its ass - just saying. And another awesome for the end with Dean actually laughing and Sam just letting his big brother laugh at his expense because he knew needed it. Carefree brothers for now :)
ReplyDeleteThe rainbows were absolutely priceless... I seriously couldn't stop laughing! Just when I thought Supernatural wouldn't ACTUALLY go there... they do love to surprise us :)
ReplyDeletePretty sure it was Bobby who said that quote. It's part of the storm's coming speech.
ReplyDeleteI totally planned on watching this episode and then going to bed (lame, but I have to be up for work at 5:30 in the morning!), but now I'm a little creeped out.
ReplyDeleteI had issue with Sam's apparent sanity as well - isn't he supposed to be on his way to crazytown like.. next week? You'd think he'd be a little less okay at this point.. but hey, I guess we should cling to a final moment of happiness before everything goes south.
ReplyDeleteAnd the hair? It was especially cringeworthy when he was talking to the little girl that was drawing on her driveway - if you squint a little, I'm pretty sure he actually looks more like a woman.
Since the uniting theme this season seems to be "Being a Winchester sucks out loud," I was glad to get a light episode. No major character death. No emoangsting about dead daughters/nieces. (Dodged a bullet with that one.) Lots of one-liners and the biggest thrill of all, brothers really laughing together, no holds barred. It's one of the major things I've been waiting for since the angels came, so I'm one happy fan.
ReplyDeleteOops. I'm sure you're right.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV Debbie. Love your description. My first thought when Sam stepped out looking like a princess party threw up on him was that if they were driving the Impala, there would be no way Dean would let him in the car. Such a great way to end the episode. Brothers happy, laughing, and one the same page.
ReplyDeleteI wished we could have seen more of the Vamptopus, although it would have been hard on the budget.
ReplyDeleteI WAS salivating at the thought of a real-life laser shooting robot appearing. Maybe next time.
0_o wait? Where? When?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to find it...
ReplyDeleteIt's possible he said Holy crap...but I swear it was Holy Chuck...
OK I found it... About 24 Minutes in...but I was wrong... He is talking about shark week, and as Sam walks away, he says "the whole week, sharks"...but it's slurred together like "Holy Chuck" XD
ReplyDeletexD your subconscient is missing Chuck
ReplyDeleteI saw the promos and was ready to cringe but WOW was I wrong!!! This episode was amazing! I loved it. And the unicorn was classic. Forever classic. XD
ReplyDeleteI had just started saying to my sister... "Too bad the unicorn doesn't have rainbows... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Before I could even get the comment out, the unicorn turned away and poof.... HAHAHAHAHAHA! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm not entirely sure what to rate this one.
ReplyDeleteWas I the only one who thought the giant slinky bit at the end was a lift of the close of "A Very Supernatural Christmas"?
ReplyDeleteNot bad.
ReplyDelete- The unicorn was very amusing.
Non-campy days?
ReplyDeleteYou do know that "Tall Tales" was in season two, right?
Sorry have to interject-there is a reason for the hair being the way it is and it relates to episodes further down the line.
ReplyDeleteThe exact two scenes where I laughed out loud. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I absolutely loved it :D
ReplyDeleteSeeing Dean spit out junk food was very funny. Sam having an actual conversation with himself in the motel was priceless.
ReplyDeleteStill disappointed in no rubber chicken.
ReplyDeleteBut just "Not Right Friggin' Now".
ReplyDeleteHow so? And where is this info coming from? I'm genuinely asking, not being snarky, because I'm a pretty faithful spoiler-whore and I haven't come across ANYTHING about Sam's hair having a purpose, other than JP saying that they've kept his hair longer to make him look older/less boyish/harsher to go along with the character growth (not sure that works in practice, but oh well).
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see the return of season 1 or season 2 Sam-hair.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
ReplyDeleteAnd Sam covered in glitter!
ReplyDeleteLoved the special title card!
ReplyDeletevamptopus
ReplyDeleteThe fact that the boys were laughing with each other at the end this week was just perfect.
ReplyDeleteIf anything they just simply havent done enough with Sam considering what he was dealing with.
When I watched the promos and everything, I was very wary of how this episode would turn out, especially after last week's disastrous hour.
ReplyDeleteBut I highly enjoyed it: the unicorn shooting rainbow from its ass?
ReplyDeleteEven so, I'm still tired of not having any progression on the Leviathan front and its getting kind of annoying, I suppose its the same feeling/problem people had with Season 5, except I enjoyed that season throughout. Don't know, I still enjoy the show, but its annoying me a bit more every week.
This is why I watch once with Closed Caption on, so I don't miss anything. lol
ReplyDeleteohhh i laughed sooooo much!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like long hair on a man, but Sam's always looks unkempt for some reason that I can't put my finger on. Liked it better when it was just long enough in the front to fall in his eyes. I have read that Jared likes it this way and since he has to wear it, I can live with it. lol I will always love my favorite TV brothers, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteI think his season 1 hair would be a little too young looking for him now, but I'd love to see a return to the mid-season 4 length.
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up for all you Cas/Dean fans, they are in the finals for favorite couple and are losing to glee. You can vote here.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/tvs_top_couples_tournament_vote_in/293070
I thought it was just an awesome episode from beginning to end!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm interested to see what their reasons are - but it's not like this is a new thing. His hair's been wild for a REALLY long time.
ReplyDeleteI just read some comments that he gave at Nashcon and I can't remember whether it was from there or an interview, but he said that Sam gets rather "hairy" soon. Apparently he is getting so messed up that grooming issues are put on the back burner. Maybe that is what tvmonkey is referring to.
ReplyDeleteThat was probably one of the best parts of the entire episode.
ReplyDeleteI saw an interview in which a fan at ComiCon asked JP what season was his favorite, hair-wise, and he stated season 3 (I think - it was an early season, for sure) and basically said that he didn't like the current look because it made him look like "all forehead", but that this was what the producers wanted for Sam because they were going for a more "mature" look for the character, trying to make him look less boyish by bulking up and growing his hair out. It didn't seem like JP liked the long hair at all, at least in that interview. I'll always love him no matter what his hair looks like (even if he had NO hair LOL) but I do wish they'd cut it. Maybe we should start a petition on JP' behalf? LOL
ReplyDeleteSeason 1 might be a bit on the young side, but I think that since his face has matured a lot and he's bulked up overall he could make it work and it wouldn't look as young on him as it did season 1. I'd take anything before end of season 4 thought, and be happy! Just anything but this Fabio look he's got going on now.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I always mean to mention to you how CUTE the kitty in your userpic is! Is it yours?
Yeah, she's mine. Thanks!
ReplyDeletexD EXACTLY what I was thinking
ReplyDeleteHmm...
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard the Die Hard news, but that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that is why I like the bangs look, not so much forehead, anyway like you I will love them no matter what. I will sign petition. ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting that as the years go by, it's always Dean set up with kids. He seems to interact really well with them. The scenes last night between Dean and the little boy with the exhausted/bitchy employee mother were really nice.
ReplyDeleteHuh, and they are not even a couple...
ReplyDeleteI hear what both of you are saying, but honestly...what exactly do you want? Like I said, if they had 24/7 of Sam having conversations with an imaginary Lucifer it would get old really fast. I do agree that they kind of took a 180 after introducting the hallucinations to just reduce it to Sam squeezing his hand, but really that was the whole point up to now...Sam believing that he was coping and not wanting to dump his problems on Dean and now he's going to get to the point where the coping mechanism no longer works.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of similar to the way they handled the guys mourning Bobby's death, which was frustrating to me too because I wanted to see more from them but I've come to realize in both instances...mourning Bobby and Sam dealing with the hallucinations...they're trying to take a more "realistic" approach to it, showing those processes the way someone would actually go through them.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the lengthh so much as the unwashed look. When you see Jared in interviews and at the cons, his hair looks gorgeous but for some reason on the show they have it looking stringy and gross. Just let Sam take a few more showers and all would be well. Oh, and agree on the sideburns...they have GOT to go!
Oh good point on Booth...hadn't thought of him but you're right...he'd have torched the place! :D
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine what you're talking about...missing something? I thought this was one of the most complete, solid episodes they've had all season long. For ONCE we had the classic, Season 1/2 SPN feel again. This episode reminded me why I love this show so much!
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought about Dean sitting around in Plucky's....like, how's he managing that without coming off like a world class perv? :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know, but I hate to see them lose to Glee. lol Everyone in the final is same sex..weird.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing Jared be the bad cop it was hilarious to see him intimidating people.
ReplyDeleteThey bit off a lot when they made Sam so damaged that he'd likely be a drooling mess on the floor.
ReplyDeleteIt was like this last year too.
One of the better stand alones ever!
ReplyDeleteThat S2 feeling was what I loved most about it!
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeletethis episode was funny freaking awesome the best part sam fighting the clowns when finish all the gliter falling over him so cute and dean laughing fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI hear you.
ReplyDeleteThere are no words that could describe how much I loved this episode and everything about it! But the best part was the end, to see boys laughing like that for the first time since like...I don't even know, was absolutely priceless!
ReplyDeleteRIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW
ReplyDeleteXD
Loved it from beginning to end. Scared Sam is priceless.
ReplyDeleteImagine how embarrassed Jensen Ackles will be if he wins that award?!
ReplyDeleteIt was teh interaction with Lucas in Dead in the Water that turned Supernatural into an obsession with me.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I will vote my fingers off for most Supernatural polls, but I will never vote for anything to do with destiel, wincest or any other non-canon pairing. (Except maybe Bobby/Jody LOL)
ReplyDeleteGOD again with the hair thing leave it the F alone already and with the die hard thing never going to happen with both of them sorry they are staying true to the show maybe if CW can the show allready they could go for it but we are getting a season 8 so.
ReplyDeleteI was like did Sam just get glitter bombed like Newt? SO funny.
ReplyDeletei watch this episode again is the best comic episode of all jared exprecion of fear was so unique & awesome and the last scene it wasnt dean laughing is pure jensen, both actors enjoy so much these scene there reation was so real & honest i imajine everybody in the set laughing at the same time, hillarius.
ReplyDeletei am a fan of the slinky toy too they also was made in metal i enjoy there sound when i trow it in the stairs or simply move in my hands good childhood memories.the actors love that scene because they surrender was so nature ,sincere like true brothers who loves each other & giving gifts for late celebration (memories from the past).
ReplyDeletethe unicorn part the most beautiful was the tail movement and the color waving
ReplyDeletethe repetition of dean and sam & his faces reation so funy & little kinki for the nature implications.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone assume Jensen is going to be embarrassed if he wins. He and Cas won the spoilerTV poll, yet that didn't really seem to bother him.
ReplyDeletei fiollow rehabber and vote eon line couple poll is same sex people but i want spn wins instead of glee.
ReplyDeleteand when dean saw him with all that glitter & his coments something about stripper i am not sure was hillarius and when sam up his hand replaing said anything you want i will not regret nothing fantastic.dean laugh so contagious.
ReplyDeleteboth actors reation priceless.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why everyone thinks couple has to be about SEX.
ReplyDeleteI loved the episode! Clowns freak me out, the horrible laugh ughhh... *shudders*
ReplyDeleteIt felt like a good old Supernatural episode :D
my friend you miss understand me my opinion is not who you making love with how people interacts in specific situation in this poll is same gender thats it
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I can't vote for a couple poll, its making slash fans go more crazy.....there's still people who use as argument to prove that the slash is canon that ''they won the spoilertv contest!''
ReplyDeleteI am agreeing with you, just did not make it very plain.
ReplyDeleteJust went to show how off kilter the clowns had Sammy. Poor guy didn't know Dean was messing with him until the third time!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you and Ally7 - I *** absolutely refuse *** to vote and I, too, have voted my fingers off in every other SPN poll.
ReplyDeleteloved it .Everything about it ,it was back to basics no angels or devils just dean and sam making jokes to each other .And the clown at the end was like soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny i couldn't stop laughing .Smart episode
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and I thought it lacked a certain something undefinable... but it grew on me and I rated it Awesome but I watched it three times before I felt ready to rate it. As compared to BDABR. CYHIYB and TFM, that I loved immediately, PPMM was more like Tale Tales that I also had to watch several times before I appreciated it.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't read any of the Die Hard stuff but what tvmonkey is likely referring to the fact that Jared showed up at NashCon "scruffy, with facial hair" that isn't normal for "Sam" during the active filming season and the show was filming Episode 17 at the time. "Sam", per JP's recent interview, will have facial hair at some point during the episode and this (or maybe starting as early as late Ep 7.15, IDK) Sam will start to have trouble sleeping and go a significant length of time without sleeping.
ReplyDelete"Sam" may have already started not getting his hair trimmed regularly as he used to, except for the last few seasons JP seems to be allowing his hair to grow anyway. (As with many fans, I love JP's hair even though I prefer it at S3 or S4 length, it's his sideburns so long that I dislike).
i read a tweet that misha post in his page about that poll is making fun of it in his particular way my suggestion find and read you will enjoy.
ReplyDeletei am agree with you i saw this episode may be forth time in the end i rewinded a fastfoward just for hear jensen, contagius, hillarius laughing, jared reation during his laugh they acting the same way when something funny happen in the convention but the real end the clown closing one eyes and smile (may be thinking i will never forget you sam) very creapy funny.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that is so Misha, BTW have you seen his movie Finding Home? He is very good in it.
ReplyDeleteDisqus generic email templatethanks I will see it take care.
ReplyDeleterubber chicken no way a duck perfect you know how many are on the set
ReplyDeletespoiler had a poll that give point average to supernatural episode for me could be the top one a perfect 10 the episode cover all the basic
ReplyDeleteThis was so great, we were watching it and laughing our heads off it's been a while since we had a good ep where we got to see the brothers really just being the annoying siblings they are (like 5 seasons)
ReplyDeleteEveruthing about it is awesome: the unicorn, brothers together, Sam questioning the suspects, clowns, sparkes... Very funny and classic SPN. I prefer "Monster of the Week" episodes to "Fighting against Big Bad" episodes. Well done.
