I haven't watched this episode, since I've stopped watching this show, but I have a rant to get off my chest before I'm done with this entirely:
What is the point of Deeks? I mean, I know his point, but I find it so damned stupid. He's the Butt Monkey. The idiot. He's only there to be the butt of everyone's joke. Yes? Honestly, it makes Hetty look stupid. This supposedly smart woman, who's a good judge of character, hires this moron as an agent (liaison)? Hell, even that bland, doughy walking fishstick Callen said how bad this idiot is at the job he was hired to do. The other characters point out how dumb Deeks is all the time, disrespect him constantly; they even point out how bad he smells, oddly enough (more than once), allude to how they think him ugly (mentioned a few of times) and even how small his dick is (lawl), mentioned by Kensi in one of the earlier episode: "It's not much to look at". There's an obvious lack of equality. Dom and Nate were never treated this poorly. Not even the goofy Eric. It's like Deeks exists simply to make the others look better by comparison. I guess it’s okay because he’s a guy, right? I mean, they would never treat a female character like this. Imagine if they gave Nell or, hell, Kensi this treatment? Fans would be up in arms.
Do the writers of this show dislike Deeks that much and they want the audience to dislike him, too? Why else would he be this obnoxious? This dumb? I suppose the majority of viewers don't like this character? Which is why there's not much of a backlash at how this idiot is treated? What lazy, sloppy writing. Make a Butt Monkey of a character to constantly be dumped on for the sake of an easy, cheap laugh. Not even Hawaii Five-O does this. Dom was boring and forgettable, but at least he didn't devolve into a walking joke. I wish they would have stuck with him; at least then I would still have had a good character in Kensi.
And the whole Kensi/Deeks thing probably pisses me off the most. People want them together? Why? Kensi treats him like shit. She constantly emasculates and disrespects him and verbally and physically assaults him. This is disgusting. Do these writers know what a functional, healthy relationship looks like? She hits him. Jesus. And it's played off for laughs. Deeks came from an abusive childhood and Kensi now assaults him, too? Disturbing. Even more so because the writers think this mindless shit is funny and sweet between them. It also makes Kensi, who used to be my favorite character, look like a shrew bitch who is too dumb to use her words. So she has to hit instead? "No, Kensi. Bad Kensi. Use words instead. Bad to hit, bad." Why would Deeks love this miserable bitch? Maybe the reason why Kensi can't get a date, and she often complains about how she can't find a good guy, is because she's such an abusive asshole? What a waste of both of these actors and their time.
This garbage manages 14 or so million viewers per new episode? The writing has always been generic, cliched and oftentimes too ludicrous to swallow. But I can often overlook bad plots as long as there are great characters to hold their own. There's not even that. Dumbass writers/creator who are all too lazy and unoriginal to make well rounded and deep characters? So they fall back on overused cliches? Sure, there's that. We get one-dimensional paper cutouts who rarely break out beyond their silly archetypes. How can people watch this pile of generic puke without getting annoyed at how they waste their own characters and misuse their actors?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
