NBC Replaces "The Firm" with "Awake"

3 Feb 2012

After dragging its heels for weeks in the ratings, NBC is pulling the John Grisham-inspired legal drama from its weekday lineup.

Instead, NBC’s new high-concept drama Awake will take its place starting March 1.
The Firm will move to Saturday nights at 9 p.m. for the remainder of its run — so, yes, it’s basically cancelled, no surprise there. Last night’s episode delivered only 3 million viewers and an anemic 0.8 rating in the adult demo. Awake stars Jason Isaacs as a detective who finds he is leading a complex double life after a tragic accident.

  1. Yes! Though I kind of wish Awake wasn't on a Thursday night still I hope it does well!

  2. Well this sucks. Awake has been my most looked forward to show since the concept was announced, and I'm not going to be able to watch it live at that time... Plus with Thursday being such a difficult night as is, this makes it even more difficult for Awake to make it to a second season.

  3. It is sad but not surprising. I for one am glad that Awake is replacing it because I really want to watch it

  7. I'm so excited! Awake! I've been waiting for you for what feels like a full year. Probably because I have been waiting about a year.

  8. Awesome, been excited for Awake since they showed the previews months ago.  Glad we finally have a date for it.  Now if we could just get one for Community too, everything will be alright.

  12. If they advertise Jason Isaacs in the previews ("starring Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies") they may get some viewers.

  13. Not a big surprise, but I hope that Awake will be the big Thursday 10pm hit that NBC has been looking for to be at least competitive with the Menatalist.... hard to capture what ER had back in the day, but Southland would've been great had they not did the Jay Leno fiasco...

  14. Great news!

I have been waiting for a premiere date for Awake since the Fall season began! Glad it is finally near. I won't really miss the Firm since it was nothing new to me, but there are so many weak shows on NBC, NBC could have chosen to cancel a different one I guess...

I'm just glad I finally get to see one of my most anticipated series of this season!

  20. I have mixed feelings on this one - it's coming to us soon, but let's not kid ourselves in hoping it has a chance on the worst TV network out there. I'm really rooting for it NOT to be stillborn when it does gets here, and praying to the TV gods that we get a good enough viewership to justify them keeping the show.

At least they do seem to be promoting it? I was surprised to hear about a new promo!
