The actor has just signed on for a three-episode arc on USA's In Plain Sight, playing the troubled father of Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack) — a pivotal character repeatedly referenced over the past four seasons.

Stephen's character, James Wiley Shannon, is a charming career criminal who abandoned Mary as a child more than 30 years ago. Wanted by the FBI, James has lived a life on the run. His surprising return leads Mary to confront tough choices that will cause her to re-evaluate her life.

    Just what she needs right now,like she doesn't have enough on her plate with the baby...but we knew he would eventually show up and of course in the last season..
