Cougar Town - Star joins NBC pilot - sign of Cougar cancellation?

CougartownCougar Town‘s Josh Hopkins and Tymberlee Hill have been cast in Keri Lizer’s NBC comedy pilot Lady Friends. It centers on two life-long female friends, Nicole (Andrea Anders) and Jen, who are living very different lives but can’t live without each other. Hopkins will play Nicole’s husband. The casting is in second position to Cougar Town. Hill, repped by TalentWorks and Odenkirk Provissiero, will play Nicole’s friend, a mother of three.
Most of the time when an actor who is a regular on another show joins a pilot it means their show is mostly likely going to be cancelled, but there are exceptions like Happy Endings last year

ReplyDeleteI think Cougar Town will get cancelled, but I wouldn't necessarily see this as a bad sign since last year Happy Ending's Damon Wayans joined the pilot of New Girl and then Happy Endings got renewed. Still too early to tell.

ReplyDeleteBill Lawrence said he let the cast do this, but he's not worried about cancellation and they'll have to replace him.

but NBC wouldnt do this if they didnt think there was a really good chance CT gets cancelled
ReplyDeleteSighs and yet I don't blame him for seeking out new opportunities, lots of shows get cancelled too late in the season for people to audition for pilots and then they are stuck with guest roles for the next TV year.

ReplyDeletemaybe NBC's pilot will attract so much buzz ABC will renew cougar town just to screw NBC :)
