Of this pilot season’s two Beauty and the Beast projects, ABC’s has emerged as the first to cast its creature.

Scottish actor-singer Darius Campbell has landed the role of Shiro, a beastly bodyguard who forms an unlikely bond with a yet-to-be-cast embattled princess named Grace.

    Not a beast at all. Cute. I did not like the show with Ron Perlman several years ago. This might be better.

    Hmm.  I don't see this guy as a beast.  He looks more like the guy the princess is dating before she meets the beast.  You know, the one her parents are trying to push her into marrying but her heart is won by the hideous beast with a heart of gold.  Ah fairy tales.

    I'm still not sold on this pilot, like AT ALL, but the casting is shaping up nicely... I don't know if that will be enough to salvage it though.

    Strange casting. It doesn't help that this pilot doesn't really interest me but the guy from Pop Idol just makes it a bit more uninteresting - he doesn't seem like a Beast-figure to me
