I believe Cas is now Human like Anna was. That he lost his grace and memories. And I believe in an imminent amnesia because of the title. It resembles the "The Bourne Identity" movie title. Here's the 1st thing that the plot description for the movie says: "A man is picked up by a fishing boat, bullet-riddled and without memory".Now we last saw him at that lake in a REALLY bad shape so...Pretty sure that's where the writers are going.I am anxiously waiting for this!!!It's gonna be EPIC!!!I am wondering how Dean will react to this O_O
exactly what I thought, didnt we first meet her in the loony bin? The only diff is that Cas is said to still be very powerful whereas Anna was without her mojo because she was fallen?
I know how I would like Dean to react. But that wont happen Cas is the reason Sam is in the state he is in and that seems to get forgotten .So what do we have here as Sam is destroyed by Cas actions on pulling his wall down . He returns with amnesia !!!.
As we don't really know much about the episode yet, it's a bit early for anything other than theories but if Castiel comes back, with amnesia or otherwise and Dean doesn't call him on what he did to Sam, I will be rather disappointed.
If Dean can forgive and forget so easily, he will have been written out of character again.
When Gordon Walker touched Sam, Dean was swinging punches all over the place, so I can't believe he wouldn't want payback for what Castiel did to Sam.
I'm curious but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.:)
Oh god. This is the ep where Castiel comes back, huh? Seriously considering not watching it...but I'll make myself, because I love my show. Loathe Castiel, on the other hand, and do not want him back. *gag*
I'd say the only way for Dean to not want to kill Cas would be if he came back with a way to fix Sam. I do think it'd be out of character for him to just accept him back after what he did but I think if it was written as a "He saved me from the pit vs He made Sam remember the pit" struggle it could be interesting. He's done amazingly good things and amazingly bad things so it'd be a kind of confusing predicament. xD
Dean certainly will have some good memories of his time passed with Castiel, but as Sam has always been Dean's first priority, even in the brothers' moments of stress, I still feel that it would be out of character for him to forgive Castiel for what he did to Sam.
I mean he practically condemned Sam to Hell on Earth and for no real reason.
Maybe if it was just between Dean himself, and Castiel, there could have been some sort of truce but, as it's Sam that he hurt, I don't know.
As you say, perhaps if he takes all the pain of Hell away permanently from Sam, they may get back on speaking terms with him. Who knows.
"I mean he practically condemned Sam to Hell on Earth and for no real reason."
I have to respond to this. I'm not excusing what Cas did, but he did have a reason. He was at war with Raphael, and he believed that if he lost that war, Raphael would release Lucifer and Michael from the cage, the Apocalypse would pick up where it left off, Cas and Crowley would be tortured for the rest of eternity, and Sam would face Lucifer in the flesh, rather than in his memories.
Cas kept asking Dean to back off but Dean wouldn't do that, and Cas wasn't so dumb as to not realize that Dean could cause damage if he was determined to do so. Cas did the one thing he knew was guaranteed to distract Dean, and I believe at the time he said he would fix Sam (as God), he meant it.
Whichever way you look at it, it was a terrible thing to do. I don't think that there is a middle way here. It was right up and personal. A slap in the face to both Sam and Dean.
There were many other ways in which Castiel could have diverted Dean's attention long enough to give himself time to open Purgatory and munch up the souls.
It would have been enough to make Sam disappear before their eyes, sending him off somewhere, which would probably have been even more distracting for Dean
The irony is that it was all in vane, because Dean left his brother anyway to try and stop Castiel.
All that came of it was Sam getting unfairly punished again, through no fault of his own, and having to suffer Lucifer all day and every day.
If Castiel said that he would fix Sam, then why didn't he? For me Castiel never liked Sam much anyway, so putting him back together wasn't so high on his to do list.
I agree it was mean, and I tend to think there was something personal in it. Cas was mad at Dean for not backing him, and not even hearing his side. But part of me also thinks that I'm probably reading too much into what was just lazy writing (by not addressing whether Cas had considered other options).
I think there's been a lot of lazy writing like that, and when we're given a motivation, part of me thinks that it's probably better not to look too closely at it. For example, I could also question Sam and Dean's discussion in the French Mistake, when they were in the alt world holding the key that they believed was critical to giving Cas access to the Heaven's nukes and helping Cas defeat Raphael and save millions of people (including Bobby, Lisa and Ben) from the Apocalypse 2.0. They were making their decision personal - whether they preferred to stay in that world or not - and there was no consideration of the implications to their friends if they didn't return the key. I could wonder whether I should assume from that conversation that Sam and Dean no longer care about the end of the world, and whether they're now just self-absorbed narcissists, but I think that would be putting too much weight on what is really just sloppy writing.
As for why Cas didn't follow through in fixing Sam, I don't think Cas had planned on losing himself when he took in the souls - just like Sam hadn't anticipated the changes his personality would undergo when he started drinking demon blood.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCas?
ReplyDeleteAnd...he's BACK! ; )
ReplyDeleteThats my guess .
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!
ReplyDeleteAHHH ITS THE EPISODE WE GET OUR CAS BACK! I love the title!
ReplyDeleteNow I am really excited, Misha should be back this ep and Sera writing it and Robert directing..AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteCas will be in the mental hospital that Sam is taken.
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea. Never considered that.
ReplyDeleteSam going guano and our favorite angel. This is gonna be great!
ReplyDeleteis he going to be cas or jimmy?
ReplyDeleteI like that idea, especially since I've generally enjoyed all of SPN's trips to the loony bin.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for Jimmy but expecting Cas.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good combo of writer and director. Interesting title. Sounds like Castiel but could maybe be Sam going crazy.
ReplyDeleteI must say I like getting info 'straight from the horse's mouth' so to speak. One of the advantages of having an EP with a twitter.
ReplyDeleteHe is going to be like Anna.
ReplyDeleteInteresting title, writer and director - sounds good.
ReplyDeleteHow are you sure? I want the spoiler! lol

ReplyDeleteCass :/
ReplyDeleteexactly what I thought, didnt we first meet her in the loony bin? The only diff is that Cas is said to still be very powerful whereas Anna was without her mojo because she was fallen?
ReplyDeleteit sort of fits both. Its an excellent title and agreed that writer/director combo is great.

ReplyDeleteVery interesting! Although I'm almost sure that it refers to Cas--maybe it also refers to someone else that we don't know...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the name of this episode.. very cool.
ReplyDeleteOooh, maybe it'll be an Anna situation - he doesn't really remember who he is, but he kind of has flashes of what he did or he can "hear the angels"
ReplyDeleteMan.. if it really is Cas, he sure has a propensity for waking up on random fishing boats..

ReplyDelete*nods* I had that same thought when we learnt Sam was getting institutionalised.
ReplyDeletecool beans

I can see the CastielHaters hating this cause Cas is back, and the CastielLovers hating this cause it sounds like he'll be completely different.
ReplyDeleteYay for hate?
interesting title, can't wait to see the episode!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Sera Gamble and Robert Singer... it's promising someting!
