Like I've said on a couple of posts on other sites, for those of us living in America, it's a holiday weekend, since Martin Luther King Jr. day is Monday, it might contribute to the number of viewers/ratings being so low because people went away for the weekend. At least I know a lot of Fringe fans that chose to go up to the mountain where I live and go snowboarding! Shame on them!
Look like the Samfans decided to not watch cause they ''knew'' what was going to happen...and even if they were wrong they still already judging the next episode....
I'm looking at this weeks ratings as an anomaly. Every genre show across the board was down, including TVD so I'm not surprised about SPN and Fringe and Grimm (on Friday) being down also. As long as SPN ticks up to a .7 in the finals, and continues to get it's .7/.8 average, I'm not too worried. I hope after the PCA's where a lot of lower Nielsen rated shows won out over higher rated ones (Castle as favorite crime drama over the 20+ million, 4.0+ NCIS? HIMYM as favorite comedy over the 16+ million, 5.+ Big Bang Theory? Supernatural as Favorite drama over everything? {yay!}) the networks realize they can't judge a show's popularity on ratings alone. The Nielsen system really needs to be fixed to closer reflect the actual viewing public. How? To quote Dean Winchester, "I got no idea", but I hope there are people in the business way smarter than me who can figure it out.
a lot of fans did actually pretty much predict what was going to happen, it's the going formula as of late... but I did watch (live), I am Team Winchester (although, I had Fringe on in the other room and was bouncing back and forth).
It was probably a mix of factors: Sam fans tired of Sam getting pushed to the side, an overall drop because of the holiday weekend, reaction to the confirmation of Bobby's death, backlash after last week's poor quality episode, and dislike of gimmicky time travel episodes.
I agree and it seems like next episode ratings will be higher considering some fans reactions to see Dean's shirtless scenes, even when the episode has a high chance of being awful, considering its writers.
Voting more than once is cheating. The polls here are really just for entertainment purposes so it isn't a big deal. The PCAs mean money for people though so they draw in even more cheating. I'm not saying anyone involved with SPN had anything to do with multi-voting, but the fans certainly did.
There's a campaign starting to save Castiel on Tumblr. They need all the support they can get, so if you are at all interested in getting back our angel, visit operationtrenchcoat.tumblr.com to find out what you can do. This could actually work if enough people contribute, so please, please visit the site and help out.
The PCAs encourage people to multivote. It even says so on their website. Of course people multivoted in a multivote poll. That's part of the rules. It sounds like you have more of a problem with the PCAs voting mechanism than the fans following directions.
Yes, which is why I have never paid much attention to the PCAs. They are really just a measure of which shows have the biggest fanatics not which shows people like the most. Most reality shows with viewer voting have the same problem. People with bigger families, more friends, cuter faces, etc regularly win over the people with more talent.
There is also another method. Not exactly cheating, but it completely taints the value of the polls. If I want my favorite show to win a poll, I can got to 100s of other sites and get other fans of the show to come vote.
This is very rampant here. There is little you can do to slow it. Besides, you actually want people to do that since it increases your readership. That isn't a criticism of your site, just a statement of fact (much the same goes on at sites all over the net).
Just the same, such things mean that internet polls can never really be given any real value as an indicator of anything.
Supernatural with 1.55 Million In total viewers and 0.6 in 18-49 Demo Isn't much better than Nikita's 1.46 Million In Total Viewers and 0.5 In the demo. Both shows are In danger of the axe at end of the season.Especilly If The CW picks up a bunch of new shows. Both shows have the probelm they don't have The Vampire Diaries or Smallville to help them anymore. From advetisments on thursday night I can tell you the CW still favors Gossip Girl over Supernatural and Nikita.Even Ringer has more ads than Supernatural and Nikita.
As for Fringe It Is almost certainly ending.Fringe fans should consider they got 4 seasons.I wish Firefly,The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and DollHouse would have gotten as much breaks as Fringe did.
Gosh, I felt so downhearted when I saw these ratings yesterday. I thought that the show would at least reflect last weeks percentage. It so deserves better appreciation.
The only positive is that the majority of shows seem to have fallen on Friday, so maybe people were just not watching tv that night.
I hope that the final numbers go up a little on Monday. Between this and the snub at the PCA Awards, I hope that the "Winchester Luck" is not crossing over into real life!
I'm not sure its easy to cheat polls here but I agree with the PCA poll, you can vite as many times as you want which is why you get a show which cant even manage 2 million viewers, a show that has one of the lowest demo ratings and viewer numbers on network TV winning a Best Drama award.
I think it was absolute proof that the current voting system is flawes. It should be changed to 1 vote each per catagory. Yes it would mean shows with less viewers wont win prizes but it wopuld be fairer and stop people questioning results like SPN and even TVD winning awards they probably would not have had the multiple voting system not been been in place.
It was a nice win and always nice to get recognition but its time to change the system or risk awards like this all credibility which I think has already been severely dented this year.
getting fans from other sites/fans from other sites to vote in polls on this site is not cheating, its letting others know of the poll. Once those fans get here they can vite for whomever they want if they choose to do so.
Spreading the word is not cheating/poll fixing/unfair in the least bit.
Its not cheating because it's allowed. If the PCA officials were unhappy with the outcome then thats their problem as is it the problem of the fans of the shows that did not win. Every show had the chance of winning as every show had the chance to have its fans vote multiple times. Its a matter of whose fans wanted it more and voted as much as they could to ensure it happened.
You dont like the results fine, but given the rules of the poll all wind were fair and there was no cheating.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell shoot for Supernatural, Nikita and Fringe!
ReplyDeleteSighs

ReplyDeleteMan. Super bummed about Fringe. I was expecting a little more. Not much. But a little.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or almost everything is down?
ReplyDeleteYep, it looks like most shows were down or the same as previously
ReplyDeletehuge ouch for the genre shows :( except for Grimm
ReplyDeleteOh, Supernatural.... Such amazing episode... Didn't deserve this. :(
ReplyDeleteYou can't deny it. Fringe is officially dead.
ReplyDeleteLook like the Samfans decided to not watch cause they ''knew'' what was going to happen...and even if they were wrong they still already judging the next episode....

ReplyDeleteWow, both Fringe and Supernatural are at all time lows.
ReplyDeletea lot of fans did actually pretty much predict what was going to happen, it's the going formula as of late... but I did watch (live), I am Team Winchester (although, I had Fringe on in the other room and was bouncing back and forth).
ReplyDeleteHow is saying that Sam will be in 30 seconds at the start and 2 minutes at the end is ''pretty much predict what was going to happen''?
ReplyDeletewell, there was more to to many of the predicted summary than that (but I saw a few like that as well), so let's just agree to disagree
ReplyDeleteIt was probably a mix of factors: Sam fans tired of Sam getting pushed to the side, an overall drop because of the holiday weekend, reaction to the confirmation of Bobby's death, backlash after last week's poor quality episode, and dislike of gimmicky time travel episodes.
ReplyDeleteGrimm is down too, about 10%.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it just shows how easy it is to cheat the PCAs, much like the polls here.
ReplyDeleteI agree and it seems like next episode ratings will be higher considering some fans reactions to see Dean's shirtless scenes, even when the episode has a high chance of being awful, considering its writers.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fringe isn't doing that great... Despite of all the actions fans took from all over the World...Da&n!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather be an optimist than a pessimist, but to each their own.
ReplyDeleteDamn, poor Fringe and Nikita.
ReplyDeleteI prefer being a realist.
ReplyDeleteoh thanks for the clarification :) I was looking at Grimm's ratings this week compared to the others so I didn't think of last week's ratings
ReplyDeleteCheat? It's a poll. It's called VOTING.
ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between being a realist and being a negative person.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to try an cheat our polls. Good luck with that

ReplyDeleteHeh, sorry it is not possible for you to prevent people from voting more than once if they really want to.
ReplyDeletePLEASE READ.

This is a counter attack. We're coming.
Well show me how and then I'll believe it.
ReplyDeleteThe only way is if someone has multiple PC's in different locations.
Not good. Not good at all. Here's hoping for a rise in the final scores.
ReplyDeleteExactly, and most people do (home/school/work/neighbors/family/etc/etc).
ReplyDeleteThe PCAs encourage people to multivote. It even says so on their website. Of course people multivoted in a multivote poll. That's part of the rules. It sounds like you have more of a problem with the PCAs voting mechanism than the fans following directions.

Yes but still only 1 person 1 vote.
ReplyDeleteThat's all ANY site or POLL can do.
If people want to invite friends/family/their fandom to vote, we ENCOURGE that. The more people who vote the better :)
Want we don't want are thing like the PCA when probably dozens of people were running voting scripts 24 hrs a day :)
Yes, the PCAs have always been flawed, but now they are just a joke.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree :)
ReplyDeleteYay for CSI: NY!
ReplyDeleteNot good at least but at least everything is down
ReplyDeletesuch a good episode on nikita!!!! can't believe the ratings!!!!!!!! it has to go up!!!!!!!
