good episode! Even tho robert's only in one scene he still helps this episode and he's the best actor on the show! Mr. Gold...maybe he still has some of his powers? i liked mary knows more about henry's thinking she is emma's mom. evil queen and her powers were pretty cool, the VFX are getting better I liked it. blind witch was pretty creepy which means the actor who played her was good. Hansel and gretel i've never been a fan of but i liked them in the episode. I liked seeing nicolas lea in this especially right after being in supernatural. The stranger!! I bet that if he's a hero type person, he's aladdin! hopefully! if villain....idk lol. good episode.
Okay, between Supernatural Friday and this episode I am totally impressed by Nicholas Lea. Before this week I didn't know who he was! I should probably check out his X-Files episodes on Netflix.
I absolutely loved that Michael took Ava and Josef (I think that was their names in the Storybrooke world). And I loved that Emma finally said something to Mary-Margaret about her being her mother. But now, I'm curious about who is Henry's real father is. At first when the stranger drove up I thought that he was going to be Henry's father, but Emma didn't seem to know him. The only thing I know about him is that the actor was in Band of Brothers.
If you want to check out a few other Nicholas Lea projects.... He has a decent role in the Sci_Fi Family Drama/ Mystery series "Kyle XY", but is more recurring guest star than a lead actor.
He was in a late 90's Canadian series with Ivan Sergei called "Once a Thief" which was a pretty fun Action/ Crime Drama. He is one of the three leads in the series.
He has a co-starring role in the mountain climbing film Vertical Limit. Pretty entertaining movie really!
Great episode and I love how they tie the different characters together like Hansel and Gretel getting the apple that puts Snow White to sleep. That has become my favorite episode so far!!
I thought it was pretty great, mostly for Lana camping it up as the Queen. Her face when she was talking to the father and he said that thing about family just broke me.
I'm a little disappointed that Emma Caulfield wasn't in it very much. Although I did think they left it open to show more of the witch's backstory with the Queen.
I did like that Regina backed up Henry though and believed him when he said he didn't steal. Although it did feel a little forced trying to make her the villain in this case when she basically just did what was expected. I do recognize that you have to keep up the tension of her as a villain and she's always going to want to do the opposite of what Emma wants but it felt a little unnecessary.I also thought that Emma revealing that she lied about who Henry's father's identity to Mary Margaret was too far. They should have left that out and had Jennifer's acting show her uneasiness so that the audience suspects but doesn't know for sure until the eventual big reveal when it affects her relationship with Henry. Was the pharmacist Sneezy the Dwarf?
This show can't grab me for good. Sometimes it's too cheesy, sometimes it's too boring. I'm not sure I'll keep watching. 1.10 will be the last chance I'll give to it.
This was my first time watching. Not sure if I will continue. I thought it was funny for the Fringe fan that I am that there was young Olivia from 3.15 Subject 13 and young Peter from 2.15 Peter playing together :)
I was hoping for more with EC, but I thought the episode was pretty good. There were definitely some things that I didn't expect. Emma is totally setting herself up for a fall by lying to Henry. The Mary/Emma moment was really really cute.
Really enjoyed the ep and even though I would've loved to seen more from Emma C, the ending was great. Can't wait to see what Eion Bailey's "Mysterious Stranger" is up to.. I'm guessing that he is the "mutual adversary" to both Emma and Regina mentioned in previous spoilers...
It was really good. I especially liked the fairyworld scenes with the Evil Queen. Especially her scene with Hansel and Gretel's father asking him why the kids would choose a father who abandoned them over a life of riches with her. Poor girl, she desperately wants a family, yet keeps sabotaging herself with her own actions.
I do not think Emma makes a very good Sheriff. She is competent, but promising the kids that they wouldn't be separated was very unprofessional since she didn't really have the authority to make those kinds of decisions.
I loved him on The X-Files! He will always be Alex Krycek to me. And if you do check him out on that show, beware he was in the show quite a number of times over the series's run.
His big break was in Band of Brothers as Private Webster, but I first saw him on Buffy the Vampire Slayer where he played one of the "cool kids" that went all Hyena in "The Pack"
Given Mr. Gold's overt display of the Aladdin's Lamp (bringing it out as Emma walked in) I'm guessing that he can't be far away, but the Disney version is such a scamp that I think the Motorcycle-riding Mystery Man (seriously, cliché much!) looked too old.
And if anyone was in doubt that he was Emma's new love-interest his scraggly beard thing was exactly the same length as Graham's. >.<
We can only hope. But she got the job after accusing someone in a public forum of a very serious crime with no proof, which isn't exactly the kind of thing you want to see from the people enforcing the law.
I don't think the point of that was to accuse Mr. Gold as much as it was for her to come clean and be honest. Personally, I wish more people enforcing the law were that honest.
I *think* it was a good ep. I've re-watched some of it. It think my problem is that I was hoping the evil blind witch would be a bigger part of the ep. She was only on for a couple of minutes and then she was dispatched really quickly.
When I make myself think about it...I liked the way they tied Hansel & Gretel (in Storybrooke. I cannot remember their names.) to Emma's story. I think it was much better handled than the Cinderella story was. I liked that she lied to Henry about his father. I think this is a kid who doesn't really need to know that truth right now. I totally knew Dad was going to see the kids and take them. I loved Emma and Mr. Gold. Do you think he actually cares whether she forgives him? I like having characters that I keep me guessing as to their real motives. I was a little worried for a minute that Emma believed them when they said they were home. :-) Glad she didn't. They've already made Emma convienently dumb on too many occasions for my tastes.
I thought Hansel was younger than Gretel for until they said they were twins. Did anyone tell the casting director? He was a twit. I did like that the Gretel was smarter, tougher and more resourceful. I was surprised that he freaked out and Gretel had to step in for him.
The one ding for me, in that sequence, was that it wasn't crystal clear to me whether to blind witch knew Gretel was there? There were moments where it seemed that she was only aware of Hansel because he ate the cupcake and then there were moments where she knew Gretel was there as well.
Coolness: *That pile of bones on the hearth. *Everything about the way she kept saying Gravy or Butter. *The shot of the empty card in Mr. Gold's office. (Good grief I'm slow witted. :-) Mr. GOLD!! yes you can smack me.) *SNEEZY!!!!! *"Snow White has a kid." just like Mary Margaret's reaction to that.
Is it just me or was that a pack of really talk dwarfs in the looking glass when the Queen spotted Snot White?
Having typed all of this. I feel better about the ep. Liked it.

I loved it. The blind witch´s house was what I was most excited about and it was really good, IMO. And I loved how the EQ was mixed in the children´s story.
Amazing episode.. loved seeing Nicholas Lea, especially after a great performance on Supernatural on Friday. I was disappointed that we saw so little of Emma Caulfield, but overall, I still loved the episode - I love how they tie things together on this show.
Ahh, yeah. Young Olivia I immediately picked up but Young Peter I only remembered after reading your comment. He was again the stronger one in this sibling pairing.

Just for one single second i thought the stranger was Henry's Father... loved the episode btw!!
ReplyDeletewonderful as usual
ReplyDeleteWe got further hints MR Gold knows the truth. And further hints he has his own agenda from Regina.
ReplyDeleteI thought Emma was lying about Henry's father and nice to know they didn't prolong that speculation.
Mary Margaret knows Henry believes Emma Is her daughter. And It looked like on some level she had some recogination of Emma's Baby Blanet.
I wasn't surprised by fact the Item the queen wanted was The Poisoned apple.
Another great episode of OUaT, new mysterious guy is the love interest they posted about earlier today I'm guessing.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I thought when he walked over to Emma
ReplyDeleteGreat episode and I love how they tie the different characters together like Hansel and Gretel getting the apple that puts Snow White to sleep. That has become my favorite episode so far!!

ReplyDeleteat this point i wouldnt say it was hints at either for gold. he knows the truth and he has an agenda.
ReplyDeletei think...he might've been on covert affairs? piper perado's character's ex bf? maybe?
ReplyDeleteha i didnt even notice that lol!!! good catch guys!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed the ep and even though I would've loved to seen more from Emma C, the ending was great. Can't wait to see what Eion Bailey's "Mysterious Stranger" is up to.. I'm guessing that he is the "mutual adversary" to both Emma and Regina mentioned in previous spoilers...
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved him in Kyle XY. Tom Foss was a beast!

anybody else notice the apollo chocolate bar from lost???
ReplyDeleteI pointed at the screen and said "Lost!"
ReplyDeleteTerrific episode, good to see Emma Caulfield albeit briefly and evil. Overall a fantastic heart warming ep.
ReplyDeleteI loved him on The X-Files! He will always be Alex Krycek to me. And if you do check him out on that show, beware he was in the show quite a number of times over the series's run.
ReplyDeleteYou should watch Snow Falls. I think that episode is definitely the clincher for determining whether or not this show is for you.
ReplyDeleteI think this case was extremely personal to her, and will probably be the exception and not the rule when it comes to her Sheriffdom.
ReplyDeleteHis big break was in Band of Brothers as Private Webster, but I first saw him on Buffy the Vampire Slayer where he played one of the "cool kids" that went all Hyena in "The Pack"

ReplyDeleteI thought that it was great :)

Too much sobbing, whispering, and lower-tone talking. Whoever told them how to act told them wrong (all of them)
ReplyDeleteWe can only hope. But she got the job after accusing someone in a public forum of a very serious crime with no proof, which isn't exactly the kind of thing you want to see from the people enforcing the law.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great episode!
ReplyDeleteLoved all of the Evil Queen scenes - Lana plays her so well!
I'm glad they're bringing up Henry's father - who ever he is will be very important.
The Emma and Mary Margaret scene at the end was so lovely!
Same here! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat episode, one of my favourites!
ReplyDeleteThen why oh why would Emma have let him get away? He looked like a great catch. Cute!
ReplyDeleteANYA from Buffy, AKA Emma Caulfield, played the witch. We saw her for about 2 minutes but she really impressed.
ReplyDeleteRight, Covert Affairs, thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome episode, such an awesome show!
ReplyDeleteWho is this mysterious stranger!!
and....was half hoping to see our huntsman in the flashbacks! :(
I don't think the point of that was to accuse Mr. Gold as much as it was for her to come clean and be honest. Personally, I wish more people enforcing the law were that honest.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that too. I wish he'd shown up in the Evil Queen's castle.
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode! :)

ReplyDeleteAnd let's not forget the two separate roles he played in The X-Files. one was recurring and the other was just a one off.
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too. 2nd time that happened (or that I noticed ) too.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a good episode.

ReplyDeleteEh, besides the acting of the girl who played young Olivia Dunham in Subject 13, this episode wasn't my cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think...maybe if Mary Margaret and Emma kiss each other they will remember like when Emma kissed the Sheriff or Libby kissing Hurley. :D
Ahh, yeah. Young Olivia I immediately picked up but Young Peter I only remembered after reading your comment. He was again the stronger one in this sibling pairing.

Great episode. I didn't like that Emma lied to Henry about his father... but other than that it was good! And this new stranger in town is intriguing!
ReplyDeleteEmma is such a great actress!!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope no one hangs Mistletoe around Emma or has a Sheriff kissing booth fundraiser or everyone will remember their pasts too soon! XD
