Didn't like it too much until the final act. I feel like I say this all the time but: ugh, Lemon. If she would get over her irrational hate of Zoe I would be fine with her. She could still be a bitch. I guess I just never understood why she hates her so much. And this ep showed they have potential to be friends. Love Tim Matheson on this show. I like how the writers have warmed him up some.
I get the why: She hates what Zoe represents. The whole world outside Bluebelle which she hates and fears because it took her mother and almost George away from her.
So while I do understand where she's coming from, I think the way TPTB are handling her expression of that hartred is what is making her so damn unlikeable.
She has her good moments granted, but most of the time she is over the top and onto the annoying unlikeable side of things, she makes it very hard to feel for her, when I have to.
Fair enough. It's still irrational to me though. Which is a shame because I feel like there is a perfectly likable girl in there somewhere. She doesn't get to shine through often enough.

It absolutelly IS coming off irational because she is projecting it so much on Zoe she's ended up personalising it, with no good reason, argument or excuse. It comes back to what I said about how the writers are handling it.
And, really, I agree with you, there is a nice person in there somewhere.... I just... it's gotten so exhausting to try and find her.
Good episode. It's nice to see Hart of Dixie's writing is improving a little.
- Question: If Zoe turned down her invitation to the Belles, why was she slaving away making drinks at the end? - At first, I really disliked Didi. At the beginning of this episode, Didi was hilarious in the scene at George's office so I started to change my mind. Afterward, her subplot with Lavon made me dislike her all over again. - I'm glad they're rounding out Brick as a character. Before this episode, he was less likable than Lemon. - Can we get more Dash DeWitt? Reginald VelJohnson's character is very amusing and I'm always hoping he'll pop up in an episode. I wish he was in this one.
" - Question: If Zoe turned down her invitation to the Belles, why was she slaving away making drinks at the end?"
I know! I totally didn't get that either.... Maybe she changed her mind? Maybe it was just a last hurrah? I don't know... but I was wondering about that too. However it was funny :D

I tend to find them equally unlikeable, with the same amount of redeamable moments... But I do think at least Brick's reasoning in his dislike of Zoe is a little more founded than Lemon's so I do tend to give him more passes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
First time I saw the show. I thought it was kind of cute.

ReplyDeleteAnd I'm calling it: Justin Hartley will be Wade's brother!
