POLL : What did you think of Grimm - Game Ogre?

  1. Monroe takes down the ogre. The scene back at the trailer was quite ominous. Almost like someone could be witnessing what Monroe did for the Grimm. It will surely have repercussions in the creature world.

Hank probably will not forget the mysterious help. They have evidence of this. Finally, everyone is slowly drawn into Nick's world. That includes Juliette. Can't wait to see what happens next.

  2. Excellent. This show is getting better and better.

  3. I want to know more about Juliette's reaction - I still think she is too perky (therefore must be a bad guy), but she really seemed to be flipping out when it cut away and we never saw any more of it.

Monroe saying "tenuously" bugged me: the appropriate word was tentatively, and professional writers should not make that level of mistake.

I was hoping that Hank would get more of a clue this time, but still nothing. This side arc is taking too long to develop - and to me its a symptom of the stagnation of the show: sure, plan for lots of seasons, put in clues to major arcs, but still keep the pace going! Maybe the show should only be a half hour long...

  4. Best episode title so far.  Loved Juliette saving Nick's ass.  I find myself liking the more ensemble feel of the stories.  yes, Nick's the Grimm but the stories aren't all about him.   The eps are getting better and better.  Monroe took out an Ogre!  Awesome!  I loved his moment of guilt.  It feels like they've dropped the Juliette looking into who Nick is and that kind of bums me out a little.  The partners dropping by Monroe's for his watch maker's services was funny, but why does Nick feel like he can't know a watch maker.  Maybe i threw me off because of the way Hank mentioned i but I thought that was odd.  I really liked the ep.  Loved the since of epic revenge because the "good guys" conspired to make sure he didn't get out of going to prison by using *falsified* evidence...all for crimes he DID commit.  Just seems very ogreish motivation.  Another good ep.

  5. It really felt like there was a Juliette scene that had to be edited for time.  The ending felt like they were right up on the edge time wise.

Are they going to play Hank getting a clue?  The only sense of someone getting a clue I felt was coming was with Juliette (when the - what was he a weasel? - scampered out). That seems to have been dropped completely.  They way they've played the cop stuff (Nick always tells just enough of the truth that there doesn't seem to be a reason for Hank to start asking questions.

  6. I definitely agree this is probably the best episode so far, easily the most together concept and follow through, and yes, better use of the extended cast. For the most part this is a decent show by my ratings, solid but not a high performer. Maybe I've been spoilt by some excellently twisty shows coming out atm, but although I enjoy the show enough to keep watching I'm yet to see an episode (bar the couple dealing with the bad top cop) that I would regret missing.

  7. mmm, so i guess the only 'power' the grimms have is the ability to see the various species then? i'm trying to get an idea of the mythology of the show but i keep getting confused: first i thought grimms were a 'species', then i thought they were a single family but nothing makes sense: why would they take it upon themselves to 'police' the other species? and species or family and whatever the reasons for the 'hunts', y don't they train the grimms-to-be? wouln't it impove the chances of one's survival as well as guarantee their acceptance of their 'duty'? it's just that 8 eps in and i know far more about the other species running around in this universe and very little to nothing of the species/family of the title?
man, i keep thinking about it and it still makes no sense? what? allow them to land in the cold reality of their existance out of the blue and hope what? that the big bad wolf (or whomever else) will 'adopt' them? cuz at this point nick makes a very weird case of a red riding hood himself; if it wasn't for monroe with either info or hands on help, poor nick might have died a long time ago...

  9. An okay episode.
     - I liked that they used Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) more in this episode.
     - The writers need to find something more for Bitsie Tulloch to do than simply being the clueless, loving wife.
     - I like the way that Monroe and Nick's friendship is slowly, positively progressing.
     - The Ogre was a good villain of the week.  That is one scary dude.

  10. I'm with you on this, especially after they started to built something with the captain of the police who was talking with that mystery girl who tried to kill the aunt earlier and also the talk with the grimm's reaper, I felt like a back story was starting to build...and everything dropped. We're closing on half the season and we have no arc or backstory or whatever you want to call it, there's doesn't seem to have a goal that the main characters wish/hope to stop/achieve or something like that

I know its half a cop show and half a fantasy show, but this episode seem 95% cop show only, just adding that the bad guy wasn't human so this can be a 'Grimm' episode, there wasn't anything behind the ''mythological' aspect other than ''he's not human, you need bigger bullet with a poison on it to kill that monster''

  11. Someone will need to tell me what's the storyline of the serie cause I can't found one other than ''the grimm can see the real faces and he come across them here and there''...is there a bad guy somewhere? Something that need to be done? A threath? Anything?

I know in the first season of a show it take time to build...but we're half way to the season now and I'm still waiting for any clues that the writers know where they're going. I'm giving one or two more chances to the serie and I'm dropping if nothing change

  12. Nice. Is it just me or is there major URST between the Grimm and the Blutebot... Especially when Nick is lying all black and blue in his hopzpital bed and Monroe stands in the doorway all breathy and upset. Don't get me wrong, I adore the show and both the actors but were very cute and coy this week - noo I don't know where your kitchen is!

Also Juliette was awesome - MOAR please.

  13. Monroe is probably getting used to having Nick come to him for help.
Does he even look at his phone anymore to see who was calling?

  14. I think it's a family line.  And, granted I'm just running on my memory,  I don't think he was raised by his parents.  I have a vague memory of there being some reason that his aunt didn't train him.  Well shoot...now I'm gonna have to look it up.

Anyway, his Aunt definitely said it was a family line thing because when she said it my first thought was 'why is she telling him to dump his fiance...at this point he's going to have to breed' He was supposed to have been train but she didn't show up to train him until she learned her cancer was leaving with only months.  Then she was murdered.

The part that doesn't make any sense to me is the whole 'hidden face' concept.  I figure I just have to go with that one.

  15. URST, not so much - 'bromance' is a big fad on shows at the moment tho: that seems more likely to me. The whole 'Nick knows where the coffee is' was definitely one of the highlights for me.

  16. Oh i agree! almost expected someone to catch Monroe at the trailer! :-/

  17. great great episode! the fairytale world really affects everyone else!

  18. Yep, you're memory is correct. Family line, Nick did not know since he was not raised by the Grimm in the family. She thought she had much longer to live and train him but the caner moved faster than she thought so Nick was in the dark.

Not much different than Buffy frankly, I don't see why anyone would be confused. For every generation, there is a Grimm.

I'm not sure on the seeing the true face of the fairy tale creatures either. It's one of those thing you just have to accept like you wrote, or maybe the creatures have evolved from their pure form from the ancient world. These new hybrids or descendants of the pure creatures look human, but have the traits of their ancestors....

Possibly the otherworldly creatures all have the ability to hide their true features from humans... most humans. Maybe the image Nick (or other Grimm's see) is not really an image of the creature in the true sense, but an internal mental image. Like the most primordial part of the human/ Grimm brain recognizing the relatives of the creatures of old as they were and warning the Grimm.

  20. I raised an eyebrow when Monroe said tenuously too,...

I guess I don't blame the writers or even think it was a mistake though honestly. Many people use the incorrect word or form of the word so frequently it is almost as common as proper grammar. I think they found the word more humorous than tentatively (I'm not sure why) or just assumed Monroe would use it incorrectly.

As for Hank getting a clue...
I think they are playing it right. The first season or part of the season is not about Hank knowing, but I'm sure that will com later. This beginning of the season was about Nick learning the ropes on his own and from the unlikely source of knowledge, a Blutbad.

Everything is going to move slowly since all networks try to avoid being too serialized these days... sadly. I think that they still need the full hour though for the case of the week, just like almost all procedurals out there. Not many of them are 30-minute series....

  21. Probably my favorite episode of the season.

I think this was the most put together episode. The parts with Nick doing things on his own did not seem as contrived as normal. I mean he was at his house/trailer or in the hospital so his partner had to be off on his own too. IT just worked better for me.

I also liked the continuing bond between Monroe and Nick and how far it has come. For Monroe to go to the Grimm trailer and see everything that has killed generations of his people, or in the generic sense all fairy tale creatures, and still get the extract and gun for Nick showed his level of commitment to Nick and doing the right thing. Even more so when he actually used the gun of course.

It was nice to see the Captain working behind the sevens again... or attempting too at least. His asking Hank for information about the antique rounds was a nice nod to him trying to find the Grimm. It makes sense that the big bad of a region would want to know where and who is enemy is.

Juliet was useful and fun in this episode. I like the simple home life part of the story. A girlfriend calling her boyfriend when she is bringing home food. Her having the inner strength to fight for her  lover is great too. Obviously she's attractive, but it's nice to see other aspects of her that would make Nick fall in love with her. And it was done in a more everyday environment and not some grandiose gesture so common on TV. Little things mean a lot in relationships and little things mean a lot in a series for me personally.

  22. I think it's a difficult task to have a spouse in the dark to some secret identity and still be   large part of the story. The less they show of her the easier it is to accept she has no clue about Nick's alter ego Grimm-man. XD

Although I agree she is a bit of a wasted character and in the best of scenes (for her) a plot device and little more.

  23. Okay!    I can buy the idea that what the Grimm (and by extension us) sees an essence and not a literal face.  Thanks!  I'm lots happier.  ;-)

  24. Okay, Nick's fiance is a veterinarian, it's not like she is Miami's greatest detective or a world famous journalist that doesn't have/gets a clue until the very near end of a show's run
