Loved it. Guess some of the posters from last week guessed correctly that Aiden's "vajoix" Julia was Josh's ex fiancee which (hopefully temporarily) turned him into the old mopey Josh, but nice development and I liked the introduction of the quirky Zoe, who I hope will become a friend/ally to poor Sally. REally enjoyed the humor that they've incorporated this season and I hope that it continues.
I was disappointed in Josh this episode. He was such a jerk to Aiden, even before he found out that Julia was his ex Julia, and I just don't think Aiden deserves it. I mean, Aiden can't really help that he's a vampire, and Aiden has always supported Josh in the past. He was supportive of Josh in the last episode when Josh totally cursed his girlfriend. And maybe Aiden would be able to show a bit more self control if he had a more supportive friend who was actually willing to remind them what they started there, instead of immediately jumping to Omygosh! You're going to kill her! I know it! You can't be trusted, you monster, you! Geez. Honestly, I hope this series goes in a direction that the UK one didn't, and has Josh munch on a camper someday.
I was also disappointed in the Julia storyline in general. I was excited that you could tell it was going to happen last week as soon as Julia introduced herself, but the execution didn't really live up to my expectations. I was hoping for something more...poignant, I guess. But I'm glad Nora called Josh out in the end. I never really understood why that happened in Season 1. I mean, if he just left his fiancee without a word in order to protect her, why was he all of a sudden going for Nora? Why was it suddenly okay to endanger her, instead of going back to Julia?
Speaking of Nora, deep down, I hope she becomes really pro werewolf, and possibly evil like they hinted she could this episode. I think that would be a really interesting direction to take her character. She makes a good girlfriend, but I think she would make an incredible antagonist. I'm interested to see what direction they do end up going with this.
I think this is one of the first episodes where I've been the most interested in Sally's storyline. I loved Zoe. She was AWESOME. I kind of hope she stays for awhile.
Totally AWESOME episode, it had everything!!, I feel sorry for Julia, she's the biggest victim here, she was dumped by her fiancee and now dumped by the hottest nurse ever, in the most cruel possible way, I agree that Josh is being a total jerk since episode one, I don't understand why, and nevertheless, Aidan is still being so nice to him, oh my... I don't know what else to say, everything was great, the makeup, the plots, this new girl in Sally's story, I've started thinking that maybe that weird shadow that follows her might be Bishop... the end with that weird kind of hooker old lady, disgusting and cool at the same time oh God perfect episode I LOVED IT!!
- I really thought Aiden was going to sleep with Julia again at the end there, then it went off in an entirely different direction. - I'm glad Nora came to her senses and didn't stalk 'n kill Josh's ex. - Sally's storyline is getting interesting. I'm digging the smoke monster angle and the introduction of the nurse. - After this episode, I have to wonder if Julia or Zoe will be around long enough to find out what Aiden and Josh really are.
"I mean, if he just left his fiancee without a word in order to protect her, why was he all of a sudden going for Nora? Why was it suddenly okay to endanger her, instead of going back to Julia?"
It wasn't "suddenly" okay. There was plenty of time and distance between those two events. Josh was also scared to death about dating at the time because of what he became and it was Aiden who encouraged him. It wasn't a very easy decision for Josh. More importantly, "going for Nora" came about because of Josh and Aiden's pact to become more human and to live as normal of a life as possible. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out too well for either of them so far.
Amen to it not working out for either of them so far, haha. I get that it was a timing thing, I really do. I guess my real problem with it is that he went for Nora before he sought any closure with Julia at all, and just let her completely slide. If he realized that he liked Nora, and felt he had enough of a handle on his condition to try things again, I just wish he'd done something, anything, about Julia first. Even if it was something totally small, like driving by her house, or calling a friend to make sure she was doing alright. Anything really. I know it's kind of a silly thing, but I just hate that the writers made Josh the sort of person to write her off and pick up with Nora instead, until Julia finally blew up in his face.
He did leave his family a note though! I wish they'd do a flashback to the mornings after Josh's first transformation somewhere down the line, I think that would be a really interesting thing to see.
The bright side is that by the time he reconnected with his family, he had two years to think of a pretty good lie. Of course thinking back to the 'graphic novel' dilemma, he's never been very good at lying. He really needs to track down the Ringer or Revenge people and get a lesson or two.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteThis episode was awesome. I hope we see more development in Nora character.

ReplyDeleteI see your point but you have to remember that it wasn't just his fiancée whom he suddenly left. It wasn't just a Julia issue. He left everyone he knew all at the same time, even his family. His own sister found out where he was by accident. He was scared and confused because he knew nothing about being a werewolf and he thought the safest thing to do was to get as far away from everyone as possible.I do agree that, once he figured some things out and settled into his new life, he should have reconnected with Julia to try and give her some closure even if he had to lie to do it. I'm sure that's a lot more difficult than it seems though.

That's a good idea. I'd like to see a flashback to when he left his old life too.
