I had moderate expectations for this show and must admit it was better than I thought it would be. If you've enjoyed shows like North of 60, Northern Exposure or Men in Trees then chances are you'll like this one. Somewhat formulaic in my opinion but its to be expected with pilot shows trying to establish plot, setting and characters.
I watched this last night. The setting was great. A lot of it was outside, in nature, that was beautifully filmed. The problem I had was the amount of characters they had. Too many to follow.
I will give it another episode if I want to keep watching.
I watched this since I am an Adam Beach fan and love Alaskan (even if filmed in Canada XD) scenery.
It was better than I expected honestly. It was nothing brilliant or even new, but I liked the characters and the drama and tension. It was a bit middle of the road, but it was fun.
I also like the cast. I absolutely hate when shows have like 4 people that do 50 unrelated tasks that no real world team or corporation would ever do or allow. So I guess I'm glad there is a large cast and the airline has a relatively realistic amount of employees!
It makes the show about the community in Yellowknife and not just the pilots of Arctic Air. Far more compelling that way for me.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Has this aired yet? I know it didn't look all that appealling to me, but I haven't seen it yet.
ReplyDeletei aired last night in Canada im also not sure whether to check out the pilot or not

The First Nation language was a nice touch. I learned a few Mohawk words in my last television project.
ReplyDeleteFirst Nation is the generic or broad term for all indigenous peoples of Canada isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIf I recall Beach is Salteaux/ Ojibwe, but I wasn't sure which tribe he was supposed to be on the series.
Correct. First Nation is the collective term for aboriginals living in Canada. The Iroquois in our area are mostly Mohawk.
