Our sister site Deadline.com is reporting that NBC is developing an Office spinoff built around Rainn Wilson’s long-suffering second banana to launch in early 2013.
The in-the-works offshoot, which would be introduced in an Office episode set to air later this season, would find Dwight moving back to the Schrute family beet farm and bed and breakfast.

My exact words when I saw the headline where "What the fuck". Really?
ReplyDelete"moving back to the Schrute family beet farm and bed and breakfast"..... Uh, he already lives there and runs the B&B as well...
ReplyDeleteAlthough Dwigt is a very colorful character and I can see a spin off centered around that character, it would be better if it was in a different location/business imo... Not so fond of the concept, and it just seems that the would have to intro a new character on the Office will a big personality as well....
C'mon NBC, just renew Parks and Recreation and Community before thinking about that.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Dwight, having him without Jim, Pam and co won't be fun very long.
I think it's kind of late to cash in on this idea, with Steve C gone and all besides Wasn't Parks and recreation considered a spin-off?
ReplyDeleteNo, Parks and Rec isn't a spin-off. They were planning one, but chose to do P&R instead.
ReplyDeleteyou hear that? that's the sound of "the office" taking its final breaths.
ReplyDeleteA Dwight spin off would be a great idea I'd watch it, just the beat farm idea doesn't sound too like the best idea, it should be something else
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awful.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank God for that!
ReplyDeleteYeah, cancel Community and green-light this. Somebody is on the ball over at NBC.
ReplyDeleteI love Community and I'm not doing back-flips over this idea, but let's not pretend that they have any compelling reason to choose an Office spin-off over Community.
ReplyDeleteThey are a business, they like making money and the Office makes way more for them than Community.
This is a very bad idea.
ReplyDeleteRainn Wilson is a funny guy but he is not a leading man. Sorry, but its true. Ask yourself: how did "The Rocker" go over? Exactly.
oh okay good cause Parks and Rec is great on its own, still too late to cash in on a spin off for the office imo.
ReplyDeleteThat just sounds terrible. I've enjoyed the times they've visited his B&B, but that does not sound like a good idea. Please try and develop a new show before developing this. Or even tell the guys at Community that they should now shoot every episode as a documentary...
ReplyDeleteThey should have done this like 3 seasons ago, the show is dead in the water right now, this is an awful idea
ReplyDeleteBut I thought they were in the business of losing money? Oh wait, I think I may have got a Fox quote backwards.
ReplyDeleteWith the situation at NBC at the moment I'm sure this seems viable, but let's be honest, him leaving the show would lead to the new show's cancellation, and that of The Office
ReplyDeleteWow.. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I enjoy trips back to Schrute Farm every now and then, but I don't know if I'd appreciate an entire series based on it.
ReplyDeleteHonestly this smacks of desperation and a lack of ideas to me.
ReplyDeleteI was kinda hoping Rainn Wilson would focus on his movie career after Office.
ReplyDeleteWorst idea ever. Dwight does not work without The Office and The office would die without Dwight.
