The L.A. Complex will be airing in the US this summer after airing in Canada this winter. The U.S. network it will air on hasnt been announced yet but will be revealed soon. Source: stephen stohn
Based on its description on IMDb, I'd say you are right. I can't figure out if it is scripted or reality tv though. Hot young things working in LA and trying to make it could go either way. Of course watching people waitress and bar tend while going on auditions doesn't sound so exciting so I guess I'm leaning scripted. If it's scripted I would say CW all the way. Unscripted then it's MTV's wheelhouse.
That fits with the CW's desperation to cut back the number of reruns it shows. If it does well, we may see the CW adopting a new TV strategy. After all the CW gets ratings more in line with basic cable than actual networks. I wonder if they are thinking about getting a schedule more like theirs. If they start doing original programming in the summer they would have less competition and a better shot of getting demo ratings of 1.0 or higher for more than one show. It could be exactly what this netlet needs.
Everyone is trying to break into original summer programming these days. With a new head of The CW being hired this fall, this sort of move is probably in play.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Cool beans, something else to watch for the summer
ReplyDeleteI'd guess either MTV or The CW.

ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a summer series so you'll probably be able to avoid it.

ReplyDeletePlus, I'd have to imagine that importing a show like this has to be relatively inexpensive.

ReplyDeleteI thought NBC was going to pick this up for some reason
ReplyDeleteMY first thoughts too...
ReplyDeleteI doubt it will be some more major network (read respectable), but who knows.
Add me to the "I think it's the CW" bandwagon...
ReplyDeleteEither that or MTV....
Nobody assumes it would be Teen Nick?
