    I just recently vacationed in France and the people were very friendly. But I agree, it's best to go over there knowing some French. It's appreciated. Moving on, I keep hearing Josh describe Fringe as a coming of age story for Olivia. I have never looked at it that way, but I'll watch from here on with that in mind.

    why is it that in every interview they always ask him about where he lives and where diane lives and how they work out and blah, blah, blah... are they doing it on surpose or something? i mean don't get me wrong, they are a really good couple and stuff but we've heard it about a million times! i mean come on didn't she know that his girlfriend lives in paris and he lives in vancouver because of fringe?

     I saw this yesterday and when Josh said that it hit me,and i locked onto it not really hearing the rest of what he said.Listening to it again just now i think he was joking about it being a coming of age story for Olivia,cause right after that he says "No not really",then goes on with the alternate universes. Listen to it again and lt me know what you think.

    lol, great josh!! I think you just made my day... not only is that scene not in the universe that you and I reside in its in a whole 'nother timeline and the alternate of that!! 

    I'm glad i'm not the only one having a hell of a time trying to describe the show.

    I did rewatch. I think the "No, not really" was for the comparison to Dawson's Creek, but it's hard to tell. Meanwhile, I wish he'd just go ahead and marry Diane Kruger. Why oh why do I care? Don't know. But they're cute together.

     Your probably right,so now i will also try looking at  it that way....Maybe they will get married after the show is over ?....Did you notice how his face lights up when he talks about her,after 5 yrs and he still has that look,i think he is in it for the long run..Oh,and what kind of ring was on his ring finger? To me it like a wedding band.

    Not really. It's just a term used for a story about someone in the process of growing up, losing innocence while gaining maturity. The Harry Potter series could be considered a coming of age story.

     They always do that,the host does it for the people in the audience and for the viewers who do not watch the particular show,and also i don't think Ellen watches,she had a blank look on her face when it came to Fringe,but she was familiar with DC,and she knows the girlfriend........

    Would have been nice to actually hear about the show and not the same 'love life' questions that are asked to him time and again. The reason for him to be on the show - to promote Fringe - was the last thing that happened. At least they showed a clip but the whole interview was rushed/fluff/nothing new.

    Wow, that was a terrible interview. She barely asked him about the show he was on, just about french waiters. And the one question he did get asked he answered confusingly even for me, and I watch the show.

    Actually, I think he said something important. It seems like he said the "Over There" universe is the same one with an altered timeline.

    I was under the impression that the current storyline was taking place in 3rd/4th universe.

    I agree. It was a waste of an interview because Fringe really needs the promotion right now with the low ratings, and the little he said about the show wasn't enough to attract any new viewers or some old ones that stop watching in the way.

    I'm trying to figure out why they had him on instead of John Noble. Anna Torv did this show eons ago, so I get why she wasn't on again. Noble would have been a much better interview.

    He is always so personable! I think a lot Robot Works are coming of age stories, because they thrive on "the experience" and the choices the characters are forced to make. If Mr. Abrams would be sending a message to me as a viewer, it would be, 'That anyone can come of age no matter what age they are. Life is a learning experience from beginning to end, and maybe even again and beyond.'

    I think this season of FRINGE is more geared towards Peter's coming of age story, which IMO I think was really important that the writers take the time to do. So much rides on Peter(s)'s decisions, which clearly has been set up this way (the manuscript/prophecy) time and time again. The character is so uniquely written as this kind of duel persona, hidden in the shadows, but socially engaged, that to see him finally make choices and grapple with the consequences is a delight.

    i think it started like that,like a coming of age story for Olivia because Season 1 was basically all about her but i think as the writers and producers moved on the next seasons and explored the characters the show became more open to other characters and at this point it's not really about Olivia,it's about human relationships(father-son,lovers,friends) and also about how past affects people(at least IMO that;s what describes Fringe best).

    If that interview was supposed to incourage people to start watching the show then I don't think it helped much.But it's normal.Unless you have someone to convience you to start watching the show from the beginning , it's not really easy for someone to do so.
    i mean I had to bribe my sister to start watching it!Or more like make a deal with her...

     LOl, i'm sure it was a good deal,but for her or you? I bet your sister loves it as much as we do,so i think you made out on this deal! Yes i agree with what you are saying,but it certainty a coming of age for everyone in Fringe,look at how Walter was coming into his own(before Peter and the machine)And Peter,i forget the word they used for him was he a con artist?Well anyway,Peter was definitely coming into his own,loves Olivia,saw his farther with clarity and understanding and started to call him dad..I could go on and on....... :)

    It was actually a good deal for both of us!She got to watch Fringe(my favourite show of the moment),which  she liked a lot, and in exchange I had to watch Castle(probably her all time favourite show) which is absolutely fantastic and so fun to watch!

    Castle is also one of my favorites,have you tried Bones? Since you like Castle and haven't tried Bones you might want to check it out. I really loved years 1 thru 5,this year is a little different,i still love it,there is just an adjustment period for me.

    The very best interviews are when the host is ga-ga over the show, such as when Jimmy Kimmel would interview Matthew Fox in Losts's heyday. Oh my, we got lots of info. But when he was on Regis and Kelly or on David Letterman the hosts made stupid fools of themselves, having little idea what the show was about.
     
    At least Ellen made Joshua himself seem interesting enough to lure some viewers, just on an "I like this guy and I want to see more of him"

    It is great when the host loves the show.They always make it more interesting.They asks the same questions we would ask if given the chance,and the segments are always longer,most shows have a person on for 1 segment,if the host is into the show it goes for 2 segments....I love Jimmy,and when Lost was still on the air and he had cast on wow,he was on fire,always a treat hen that happened... :D   
    You could definitely tell Ellen liked Josh,she just doesn't know much about Fringe.
