Downton Abbey is amazing! I don't care about such critics...
ReplyDeleteLaughing at this. It is TELEVISION, sir. Everything is a soap opera.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what a dick. What, people can't enjoy something fictional? Must we take everything so fucking seriously? Ugh. Asshat.
I don't watch this show, but I clicked on the link just to find what he means by "cultural necrophilia." The best I can tell is, the guy, whoever he is, believes Americans are all caught up in English period dramas. Gee, and I thought we were all caught up in silly reality shows. Difference of opinion.
ReplyDelete"Cultural necrophilia" is just something this guy made up. Saying something stupid and nonsensical like this is the only way a "TV historian" can get people to notice them.
ReplyDeleteWow this guy is a dick, his ranting and raving about American culture,Downton Abbey itself, chill out its a television show, not a documentary.Lord i wonder what he said about Upstairs Downstairs,if he even saw it?A jerk who is looking for attention..
ReplyDeleteSeriously Dude. Just chill! At least they are portraying WWI. You should be thankful and quit whining that they aren't portraying it with cell phones and facebook. Gosh.
ReplyDeleteI think this mo-ron should focus his attention elsewhere. Perhaps Jersey Shore?
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderfully made, wonderfully acted show that portrays a fictional family; it makes us forget about NOW and just has us amazed.
ReplyDeleteThis critic should be happy that's even got as far as it has in our culture of reality crap.
