Best of 2011 Awards Part 1 - Best Show, Best New Show, Best Actor/Actress and Many More!

Hey All,
So with everyone else giving out their Best of the Year Awards we thought that we would jump in on all the fun! So after we decided to do the podcast, we realized that with so many awards to give out that it would have to be done in two parts. Additionally, we really set no real rules besides that we would use shows (and episodes) that "aired" in 2011.

With 4 co-hosts we all decided to have our own list of nominations based on the shows we watched and then just discuss and debate who we think should win. When there was a split vote we tried to go "X-Factor" style or convince one another who should win and it made for some good fun!

We know it is not the "normal" way to pick the BEST of the year, but we are not normal and just fans having fun! We did have a couple of ties and probably one of the most overlooked actors on TV some how won two awards! Can you guess who??

As you listen we basically made some rules/guidelines along the way and once again since we all had our own list we ended up with a huge variety of nominations/mentions to pick from for each category. The mentions are all listed below and some of you must be wondering why the F we mentioned a specific person/show, but to find out why and who/what actually wins you will have to listen to the podcast!

We hope you all enjoy and you can follow us all on Twitter or email us at podcast@spoilertv.com

  2. Maybe I got it wrong, but where's Jensen Ackles' name in Best Actor category?!

  3. Hi HaleH,
We knew that we would have some issues with not nominating/mentioning certain shows/actors/actresses, but it was just a free flowing discussion and each of us had opportunities to mention anyone or any show.

I unfortunately do not watch Supernatural, but CJ does, so maybe he can jump in on why Jensen was not mentioned. I know we have a couple of Supporting Roles mentioned though. :)

    Thanks!

  4. Listened last night. Some good picks. And some omissions.

I think I would throw Happy Endings into the best new comedy/sitcom. At least as a nom.

And not enough people watch Bored to Death but Ted Danson is fucking fantastic on it. I wish he'd receive some recognition somewhere for it. But it remains a kind of under-the-radar show, I suppose.

But you guys don't watch everything, of course, so no complaints here.

Although if you actually watch Glee I don't know how you could say you think of Jane Lynch as a lead. I mean, she's barely present in the show, really.

And you guys shouldn't laugh at Heather. The Vampire Diaries is really exciting and surprising. She's right about the first half of the first season. But after that it becomes so engrossing. It's a truly fun and clever show. I don't even regard it as a guilty pleasure anymore. It's just good.

    Anyway, thanks y'all!! :D

  5. Oops! sorry, my mistake...haven't noticed it's your own list...got it wrong with the main contest. Stupid me!

  7. Obviously there's a large amount of names for you to keep up with, but FYI it's Julianna Margulies :)

I'll be sure to listen in on this later.

  8. No Jennifer Carpenter for Dexter?

  9. I'd have to agree with this!

  10. Wheres Ian Somerhalder's name? And wheres Nina Dobrev's? The girl plays two completely different characters how can she not be on here?

  11. #Very great to see Anna's name in the list ^^;!
    &
    Thank you!

  12. There is no way in hell that Castle isn't nominated for best tv show... just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I just wanted to post exactly the same!!! Nina is amazing..i don´t think a lot of actors can play two completely different characters in one show..  she totally should be on here!! she would deserve it!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I also have to agree and I think with me being the only one on the podcast watching Dexter it is just a big oversight on my part! She has been awesome!

  15. Ted Danson is awesome and at least I mentioned him briefly for his role on CSI, none of us watch Bored to Death by I heard great things about the show.

Re: Jane Lynch she definitely is a supporting character and guess to clarify my comment even if she is briefly shown each her moments are awesome and is one of the reasons I like the show.  So she in my "mind" kind of comes across as a lead. :)

Re: TVD and Heather.....well I think we all like to have fun and will probably always laugh with and at Heather and of course one another...but we do value her opinion! If not we would not have her be a part of the podcast....and I know many people actually love TVD, but we just like to tease Heather... :)

  16. I ALMOST listed both Whitney and Terra Nova int the mentions... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Actually I went back and listened and I thought it was just typo on my part, but CJ did not nominate the show and he and Heather watch it.  I actually thought he would nominate the show and when I asked him about Castle he said no, so you will have to ask him why not? :)

Although I forgot to put Californication in the list and they are now added.

  18. Heather is our resident TVD expert so perhaps she forgot to mention them?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Always picking on Terranova...I like that! lol

    ReplyDelete
  20. Considering all the names & nominations being bandied about, I think it's fair to forget the odd person ;) The other guys really don't know what they're missing out on! :P

    ReplyDelete
  21. How is Neil Patrick Harris a supporting actor on HIMYM? If he's a supporting actor, who's the lead?

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL yes we did talk about so many possibilities and the others are missing out!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Laurie,
I think during the discussion when CJ brings up NPH during Supporting Actor category he does say he thinks of him as a lead.

We had the same discussion with John Noble for Fringe.  We really did not have any set rules and were just chatting and having fun with it all. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. LOL well too bad we are still affected by that virus that makes you forgot things otherwise we might remember the good parts of the show.... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm blessed that I didn't even get that far to be affected by that Obliviousness-Virus.
But seriously, it really didn't improve after the 3rd episode?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I also don't understand how John Noble is in the Supporting category. In some episodes he had more screentime than Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson combined.
Not that he would have gotten more recognition in the Lead category though... :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just finished downloading i will listen tomorrow, this should be good!

    ReplyDelete
  28. LOL well he is listed as BOTH Actor and Supporting Actor and if you listen you will be happy to see who wins... :)

However, he is technically a supporting actor but we all agree he is the main and we do consider him a lead as well.

  29. Please, don't think of me less than I do myself already! lol

I wasn't referring to your Awards but the "big" IRL-ones.

  30. Thanks, nice list indeed :-)
