X is moving ahead with The Americans.
The male-skewing cable network has given a pilot order to the KGB spy drama set in suburban Washington D.C. the early 1980s. The project, created by Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies, Damages), centers on the arranged marriage of Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, who have two children who know nothing about their parents’ true identity.

Okay, this sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting!
ReplyDeleteOh, this sounds good! Doesn't matter if its books, movies, or TV, I LOVE anything that has to do with spy stuff!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting indeed
ReplyDeleteYummy synopsis. The episodes of Chuck (the one with Andy Richter) and Alias (the one with a fight scene in a car dealership) centered on russian spys living in the suburbs were both pretty awesome - The Americans will have a more a serious tone than these episodes though.
ReplyDeleteI hope it'll get picked up, there's a lot of potential. Hopefully it'll make another original, ambitious drama on FX.
Also, I hope the writers will choose the big picture angle over the "parents keeping their secret identity to their children" angle. So many potentially great dramas screwed up by focusing on the family angle (Falling Skies, Terra Nova, for instance, would have been so much better if they didn't ended up being cheap family dramas with the only difference of being set in an original environment).
I heard this before.
ReplyDeleteThis could turn into a great series if done well,i am so excited!!
ReplyDeleteCool premise, especially like that it's on FX which has a good track record for me.... will keep an eye out for it
ReplyDeleteSounds like another winner. Go FX go.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely intrigued by this.
ReplyDeleteAlready thought this sounded the most exciting from the current crop of pilot projects at FX and I'm gladto hear it's getting a pilot order for now, could be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a fun idea if it's done right. This will also be a very cast-contingent show for me.
