Really good episode, not surprised they won- The Jacksons always win. I must say thought the final song was my favorite. It was great to see the group get back together it was really cute. Im thrilled Mike's father finally came around. Super thrilled that Quinn has passed her psycho crazy stage. hopefully!!
Wow ... the troubletones were super confident. Personally I felt their performance was not as great as they thought. I thought it was the epitome of everything everyone tried to tell Mercedes but she refused to believe. I though the choreography was minimalist and somewhat lazy with mostly hand and arm movement and not very sharp looking. They basically had 2 main singers and 10 backup dancers. Mercedes has been blaming Rachel for every thing that's not happening for her ... what's her excuse now?
Nude Erections was slightly better, but only slightly. I loved the first number - great to see Tina get some spot time. I could have totally lived without "Control" but from a story perspective, I see the correlation. I didn't think it was a good song when Janet did it ... still just don't like it. Man in the Mirror is one of my all time favorites - couldn't help but sing which I think is one of the great appeals of this show. The dancing was OK - much sharper than the TT's. If you compare it against what we normally get from Finn and Sam, I'd say it was a miracle - booty camp does work!
I guess with her stars going back to Schu, Shelby has no reason to hang around. I love Idina Menzel's singing but I don't think she brought anything to this season so far other than a catalyst for Quinn's brand of crazy. I'm also not fond of ridiculously overconfident people who plan their victory party before the competition starts so Shelby kind of plucked my nerves and put me firmly in the ND camp. I hope she taught Sugar something before she leaves.
Less Schue/Emma, no Sue or Beiste - I can live with that.
Mike's Dad finally came around - good! That was a nice moment. Mike - you ungrateful schmuck - Tina's trying to help you!
Also glad that Finn and Blain have put aside their differences.
Sebastian is a tool ... love Kurt's line "You smell like Craig's List." Cheap used crap and easy sex ... that's pretty much the sum of it.
I.LOVED.IT and im rewatching it in like two seconds. OMG. And I cried cause we got Blaine's BACKGROUND! I mean, how can we have a show where fans bitch about a character being on too much but yet we dont KNOW ANYTING ABOUT HIM! that was awesome
Tike, awesome, creys more. Samcedes bring it on bitches
I honestly enjoyed this episode. It was much like a good season 2 episode, but not season 1 quality yet. i would've loved more Harmony, but hopefully her final line is a hint of future appearances.
Sam was fantastic, but Mercedes is pissing me off. She is doing EXACTLY what she hates about Rachel - without realizing that Rachel has changed quite a lot. The bathroom scene made me dislike her even more.. In the end, though, I'm glad New Directions is expanding. No idea why Sugar is now allowed to join.. Perhaps Shleby fixed her voice?
she and will have been supporting each other since day one and that stunt shelby pulled at the choir room was so out of character! i blame the writers, not shelby.
Honestly, the only things that I liked about this episode was Mike's/Mike's Dad relationship and the "Man in the Mirror" performance. I also liked the Troubletones performance and I wanted them to win, but I didn't believe they would win because Glee is all about New Directions. (which is normal since they are the main cast of this show, but why split the groups if you are going to make such an awesome group like Troubletones and don't even let them win?) Also, how many songs did the New Directions sing?!?! Plus, I knew that Shelby was confident and all, but what's with the attitude? It seemed out of line and it didn't seem like her character would ever do that. I freakin' love Idina Menzel, but I wanted to hit the screen when she talked like that to the New Directions. Poorly written storyline for Shelby in this episode. I'm kind of glad that Quinn is back to normal because I hated her, but how can a girl return back to normal in a single episode and without a psycologist's help? I guess that's Glee's logic. The weird thing is, I loved season 3 so far. I actually thought (and I still think) that it is better than the other seasons, I was really looking forward to this episode and I was totally disappointed. I hope that I won't be disappointed like that with the rest of the season 'cause I really like Glee.
overall, I was pretty happy with this one - what I thought was most important was the fact that the New Directions won without any of their "usual" powerhouses - Rachel, Mercedes, and Santana are all huge voices that were absent, and I ended up enjoying the performances more because of it.. everyone else was highlighted, which hasn't happened in a really long time - Tina and Mike really shined, and I thought they mixed all of their songs well
I'm glad Blaine and Finn worked out their (well, Finn's) issues, and I absolutely loved seeing John Schneider as Sam's dad - he fell right into that Jonathan Kent role that I love and miss!
finally, my favorite part of the entire episode was Mike's interaction with his father.. such a touching moment toward the end, and I'm glad Mike can finally be happy without compromising anyone else's happiness
Mercedes is ridiculous.. she's taking diva to a whole level, and she's gone way past annoying for me at this point.. I still think she has a fantastic voice, so I'm never sorry to hear her sing, but she needs to get over herself, and soon - even Rachel's growing up
I kind of felt like Sectionals just brought out the uber-competitive in her - It reminded me of Vocal Adrenaline's way of trying to psych out your opponent so I wouldn't have put it past her.
Not my favourite, by a long way. The thing I hate most about any TV show is getting rid of characters and bringing them back like they did with Sam (I know it was contract stuff, but I would have just said he'd blown it), yeah so I found it quite annoying.
really awesome songs the cast did there love what the thing they are bringing in this episode and love the Mike/his father situation and i hope there's more Rory scenes afterwards :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteloved the Troubletones' performance, they were the best IMO
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I enjoyed about the episode was Tina & Mike (never thought I'd say that), and I guess Rachel's words to Quinn.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dan who said it's more like a good S2 episode as opposed to S1 quality.
It's certainly come back from S2, but is nothing compared to S1 still

I've been disappointed with Glee during this season. But with this episode ... I have no words.
ReplyDeleteBest Glee episode ever.
Everything I felt had been going wrong with the show was corrected in one Awesome swoop.
best episode ever i think :)
ReplyDeletereally awesome songs the cast did there
love what the thing they are bringing in this episode
and love the Mike/his father situation

It was the best episode of the season!! I thought that the TroubleTones were better, but im happy ND won.
ReplyDeleteAnd the last song was just amazing!!!!!
it was okayy but i hate how easy they let mercedes, britney, and santana bak into the club!!
ReplyDeleteI liked the fact that Quinn stopped being such a spiteful, conniving shrew. Other than that, meh.
ReplyDeleteReally great episode! I liked the sectional performances, everybody get a chance to sing!
ReplyDeleteI loved it, Santana was on fire tonight and I'm really happy to see Sam back.
