NBC released two new trailers for their upcoming drama series, The Firm, starting with a 2-hour première on Sunday, January 8, 2012 before moving to its regular timeslot on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10/9c :
I for one am very interested in this show, it has ingredients I'm usually fond of : a serialized story, a conspiracy and paranoia all around, backed with a great cast (Tricia Helfer, Callum Keith Rennie, Molly Parker and Josh Lucas, that's not bad at all). Let's hope this show will prove that NBC is making the right call in continuing to produce ambitious dramas after the (undeserved) flop of The Event. I haven't seen the movie this show is based upon yet but I will before the show begins (I hope Tom Cruise runs a lot in it !). And one other thing that's great is, like 30 Rock season 6, The Firm has a 22-episode order so we will have no breaks and no reruns until the end in May !
This could very well be the first new NBC show I'm really hooked on this season :
- The Playboy Club, as ambitious as it might have been, was clumsy and ended as quickly as it started.
- Prime Suspect was good but it didn't have something special to make it a must-see and more than just a copshow.
- Grimm is not very compelling so far, plus the main actor reminds me of Brandon Routh (that's not a compliment).
Regarding comedies, Shitney is as bad as my boyfriend's breath in the morning, am I right ladies? *insert irritating laugh track and applauses*, while Up All Night is a decent comedy with great leads but nowhere near the fantastic four (Community, Parks and Rec, The Office and 30 Rock).
Wouldn't it have been amazing if Community had landed at 9:30pm on Thursdays instead of getting benched until March 2012 ? It would have been one hell of a lineup from 8 to 11 : 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, The Office, Community and The Firm. Yeah, that would have been swell. I'll still be watching all 5 fives shows broadcasted by NBC on Thursdays but Up All Night is definitely inferior to Community on every aspect.

WOW,having 22 episode without a break is in itself a very big plus! I don't know how it will sustain itself season after season,i hope it is exciting and that it has lots of action...maybe NBC is finally doing something right! :)
ReplyDeletebtw Bunky Tom does a lot of running!
Yay for Tricia and for a new conspiracy series!
ReplyDeleteIt will definitely help that there are 22 episodes without break.
Might check out that movie as well.
This looks good, do we know yet if it is just a miniseries, or if it could get a season 2?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise both
ReplyDeleteTricia Helfer and Callum Keith Rennie were in it, definitely will give it a try now
The first few trialers and promos didn't impress me much, but this looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteAlso judging by the guest stars I assume they film this in Vancouver...
Loved the book, liked the movie, and it's been a while since reading anything from the author, but between the great cast and the original source material, and now these excellent trailers, I'm definitely gonna put this on my must check out radar...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely read the book, then watch the movie. There are subtle differences, but as the novel was a HUGE best seller, the film is equally satisfying, especially the performance of Holly Hunter. And you can't go wrong with a hilarious couple of scenes from Gary Busey. But, I insist... read the novel first.
