[UPDATE] Doctor Who - Season 7 - Ponds to Leave the TARDIS for Good
15 Dec 2011
Doctor WhoUPDATE: Moffat has also teased that River WILL be returning next season.
Steven Moffat has announced at the Press Screening today that the Ponds will leave in Season 7 and that a new companion will join the Doctor on his travels. Amy and Rory will be in quite a few of the episodes it seems, but their departure will be "heartbreaking".
As yet no-one has been cast as the new companion.

Sobs they are going to die aren't they? Or could they somehow end up in the library computer thing with River? This show loves to break my heart.
ReplyDeleteOf course it's heartbreaking. I mean, it would be heartbreaking leaving anyway because it always is. But this is Moffatt so they'll probably die horribly or something.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhh, I like this idea :DD
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that the Ponds will be leaving. I truly hope they won't be killed off. I am glad that the doctor will be getting a new companion though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd like to see Smith with someone new. My geeky lil fangirl heart wants the new companions to be Clyde and Rani from Sarah Jane Adventures XD
ReplyDeletenooooooooo, I can't believe it......... :(((((((((
ReplyDeleteMOFFAT!! *shakes fist* I just know that episode will tear my heart out and make me cry for hours, cos Doctor Who is good at that XD
ReplyDeleteI don't mind a new companion though. I love Amy and especially Rory to bits, but I'd love to see 11 with another companion and what comes out of the new dynamic :)
Yay for River though :DD
Too bad 11 won't be going with them...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, there's always dvds to watch until a Doctor you do like comes along :)
ReplyDeleteOh god I would love Clyde and Rani! Make it happen Moffat!
ReplyDeleteBe great to have another Rani aboard after all this time XD
ReplyDeleteOh yes that would be great :D
ReplyDeleteThey won't be killed off. Moffat's episodes never had anybody die. Even River, she ended up in the library computer.
ReplyDeleteThis was inevitable so, no big deal. It's time to inject some new blood into the show. Last season proved that.
ReplyDeleteI never really clicked with Amy until recent eps but I love Rory - will miss him. I'm intrigued to see who will be the new companion.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised they lasted this long, most companions a year, the Ponds managed two and whatever they get in series 7. So while I'm sad to see them go, i'm just glad we had them for so long.
ReplyDeleteI'm in trouble. I was heartbroken when they got a new house and car. Now I'm worried I'm going to be left sobbing on the floor. I've never felt this strongly about keeping a companion.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Have any of the Christmas eps included a regular companion? I know we were introduced to Donna in one but she was basically one of the Christmas Ep Temps.... but..oh wait! Yes there has, Rory and Amy were in one of them.
ReplyDeleteI think that was the only one.
ReplyDeleteBut haven't they already "died" like multiple times?
ReplyDeleteI think that if they do die, it'll be from old age. Their last episode could end with the younger Amy and Rory coming across their own graves in the future (ninety something years ahead). Their older selves have left messages for them telling them that this is the last time they'll be with the Doctor. They decide to accept this, and the Doctor leaves them in the present to live out the rest of their lives, knowing that this really is the final goodbye.
ReplyDeleteThe very first Xmas special "The Christmas Invasion" (David Tennant's first full episode), had Rose in it.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeletenooooo not amy!!!! I don't want her to leave!!!!
