Dohring will play Chronos, the God of Time, in this season’s 12th episode, slated to air in mid-January. The Greek deity is usually depicted as a old man with a beard, so we’re guessing the show is going in a very different direction here.

Literally just squealed out loud.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, this is the 1942 episode with Eliot Ness. Guess now we know how one of the brothers will time-travel without an angel. The question is WHY does he send one of them back in time. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the greek god characters. They're usualy disappointments for me. I loved the Christmas pagan gods and Fate, but after Osiris, this seems a repeat theme.
ReplyDeleteI feel like a loser...but without seeing his face I cannot place who he is..can anyone tell me what he's been on before?
ReplyDeleteyeah... i hope Chronos is a good God.
ReplyDeletenevermind, i looked him up. I havent watched him before in anything. One of my electives is Classical Myth, and we've been studying mostly Greek Myth...so I'm interested to see this one.
ReplyDeletethere wasn't a Greek God in the show....
ReplyDeleteah... the fates sorry...
ReplyDeleteSay WHATTTT? :D
ReplyDeleteHowever this reminds me of something sad. :(
Remember Ruby? Yeah, that role was written for Kristen Bell. And she turned it down. :[
and she turned it down for a role in heroes hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI think given the history of the show, we can rule that out. Everyone and everything seems to be determined to make the Winchesters miserable. Poor brothers.
ReplyDeleteLOVE him! I was just getting over how excited I was to see him on Ringer, and now he's coming to Supernatural?! 14-year-old me (who was in love with him when he was Logan on Veronica Mars) just started jumping up and down and squealing.. can't wait!
ReplyDeletemeeee too
ReplyDeleteloving the idea of Dohring here much more than playing a teacher on Ringer. Makes me think another Veronica Mars marathon is in order. Anyone want to join?
ReplyDeleteI'm always up for that :)
ReplyDeletecool cool cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see him on SPN! I loved him as Logan on Veronica Mars! Please please please don't let the boys kill him off, we need him as a reoccurring character on the show! =D
ReplyDeleteThat´re great news! I really loved him in Moonlight!
ReplyDeleteDidn't knew that tidbit, whoa, everything is sadder in my head right now...
ReplyDeleteThen what was Hermes? sugar coated celery?
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with this casting....
ReplyDeleteIt wasnt Hermes, it was Mercury, the roman messenger God.
ReplyDeletei literally just about fainted!! i can not wait for this now!!!!
ReplyDeletearen't they the same for al intents and purpouses? roman gods are after all just refurbished and rebranded greek gods.
ReplyDeleteLike its Istamul or Constantinopla.
Nah, the Roman gods are planets. In all seriousness, Roman gods did change a small bit - More warlike, etc etc.
ReplyDeleteIts really a glass half full thing - yo could say it was Greek but you could also say it wasnt. Besides, Mercury wasnt really featured in that episode.
I loved Jason as Josef on Moonlight. He is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of a grey area, it can go either way depending on what you want to portray. I mean Gabriel in SPN doubled as Loki and that wasn't even heard of anywhere. So at least in SPN it wasn't made clear if Greek=Roman deities.
ReplyDeleteI remember Mercury as the recepcionist, I really don't remember how he died, did Lucy stabbed him?
^^; I have no idea who he is
ReplyDeleteI suppose if the guy can play a snooty vampire he can do this too.
ReplyDeleteLucifer snapped his neck after thanking Mercury for "calling him".
ReplyDeleteGreat bit of guest casting
ReplyDeleteLove the actor...but yet another Greek god?
ReplyDeletemaybe he is like the trickster...
ReplyDeleteUm, nice.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who J D. is but he seeme to have been enthusiastically welcomed by everyone, so that's good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteAs regards Chronos, since season 4 and 5 the show has branched into multiple mythologies, so Chronos shouldn't cause any more astonishment than those who have gone before.
My personal preference would be, if not for the elimination, at least for a reduction of these all-powerful god-like figures but I suppose at this point that would be difficult.
I just hope the episode is well-written and pertinent to the season's story-arc, but I'm an optimist and I'm sure it will be great, as time travel is my number one favourite :-)
Fantastic news, happy to see him on SPN.
ReplyDeleteCome on... is it the "gods season" or what ? Or rather "let's play with all the cool gods and fu** with them yay !" season ?
ReplyDeleteI hope he'll be well done, I suppose they had to bring this one for their time travelling idea. We'll see.
That's AWESOME! I adore him:)
ReplyDeleteon this episode, does anyone else think that the brother going back in time will be Dean simply because it falls under Dean's 13 episode arc?
ReplyDeleteIt's all still a bit too hazy to really speculate yet.
ReplyDeleteIf it's official that only one brother goes back in time, the brother that's left will also have his little story arc in the present, probably trying to get him back, or trapping Chronos in some way.
It would have been cool if they had sent one brother into the past and the other into the future and established some connection between the two time zones!
Anyway, all that I am sure of is that I am looking forward to this episode:-)
The angels have been replaced by gods this season. We had Cas literally turning into a god in the first episode. Instead of the Trickster/Gabriel judging people, we had Osiris. And instead of the angels making time travel possible, we've got Chronos.
ReplyDeleteOH yeah, big smile and happy dance here, love Jason. Have been a big fan since Veronica Mars, and he was so good as Josef on Moonlight, the writers just did not use him enough. Does this guy age..at all. I think maybe he is a vampire. lol
ReplyDeleteOh yes, loved Logan & Veronica, but also will pull out Moonlight, DAMN I HATE CBS. lol
ReplyDeleteI loved Josef, but the writers just did not know how to write for him, not enough one liners to suit me. lol I would have watched Moonlight with him as the star and that scene with him & Beth when she was asking him to take care of the reporter, there was LOTS of chemistry between them..
ReplyDeleteRent Veronica Mars & Moonlight, 2 very good cancelled to soon series.
ReplyDeleteDisregard my comment I didnt follow the link and so didnt read the entire article. I read it over on the CW and it claims that Sam will be the one taking a trip back in time.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing case related, simply because of the FBI agant who happens to be a hunter too being involved (Elliott) but then again maybe Sam stumbles upon the case and or Elliott by accident and the God is just messing with the boys again. Either way I'm excited but I doubt we'll get to see Sam dressed up.
ReplyDeleteYup, Gods love to mess with the boys.
ReplyDeleteThat is messed up because she does do the voice over for Gossip Girl and she couldn't show SPN any love?
ReplyDeletelove SPN
ReplyDeleteI love him in everything he does
