  1. Thank God the "Find Sophia" storyline is over. But oh my God, Shane, WTF was up with you letting the barn walkers out? Hershel continues to annoy me.

Poor Carol. But Darryl will comfort her! (I am now a hardcore Darryl/Carol shipper. Please to get together.)

And I hate Dale. He annoys me so much.

Cannot wait for new episodes and I loved tonight's episode!

  2. When I see or hear Dale I want to go wash my hands.

  3. THAT WAS AMAZING THAT ENDING WAS A MIND F*CK AND SHANE LOST HIS EVER LOVING MIND….poor Sophia tho...

  4. The award for non sequitur of the year goes to.... "Hey.. um, guys. The barn is full of walkers."

Did I miss Hershel saying it was okay for Daryl to take a horse? I seem to recall Rick was told that everyone had to ask from  now on.

Hershel is  bit of a loon huh? XD
Guess he's not the first isolated or unworldly person to have their own spin on reality, but still. He's not uncaring orr dumb and will come to his senses eventually. Maybe not before he forces the group off his farm....

Shane trying to persuade Lori that he's the better man for an apocalyptic world is sad. He has a few somewhat valid points that Rick could get himself killed playing hero and that it's a different world now, but to ignore the your own faults and Rick's good traits in an attempt to win Lori back is a fool's errand.

Go Glenn! Step up and tell it how it is!
Even if it were not to win a woman to hsi side, that speech is exactly what all Hershel's people need to hear. Walker or infected human, those people are dangerous and need to be treated as such. Locking them in a barn does not seem like it's a well tought out endgame!

Shane's speech was something less than Braveheart eh? XD
I guess maybe  it was the most effective way possible to force the issue. That's for sure!

One thing is certain though. Some of those people need some target practice in a bad way! They were 25 feet or so from their targets and I saw at least 5 or 10 chest cavity hits when they were all aiming at the heads.

After all that time and all that effort and all that unneeded risk taken... Sophia was in the barn. If I was a gambling man I might place a wager on one of the group being a little mad at Hershel for not telling them! XD

  5. Wow! Well, Shane's effective, I'll give him that. He wanted change, he got it.

  6. It was like every step Sophia took was agonizing for everybody there.

  7. Shane has been infected..
If this were LOST I would be expecting Dogen to show up and try to be drown Shane, brand him or feed him poison pills! XD

  8. Holy crap - that camera shot when they are all running from the porch to the barn was spectacular.

    Loved loved loved it ...

Dale - I actually liked you this week - don't screw it up.

Daryl - you're still the shit, even with a shot gun instead of your crossbow.  I still can't ship for you and Carol though.

Shane - Just because you're becoming psychotic doen't mean it's right for everyone else.  Oh and ... umm ... you're a dick.

Andrea - I swear she wants to look at her crotch and tell a dick to grow ... never gonna happen sweetie.

Glenn FTW - I guess now that you're not walker bait, that also means you don't have to put up with Maggies bullshit either and yet you still need her permission to put down a charging pack of walkers?

Lori - I have no comment for you this week.  You bring nothing to the table.

T Dog - you had a line ... good for you buddy.

Herschel - why in the hell would you not tell them you had Sophia in the barn?  You knew they were looking for a young girl and then one shows up and you got nothing ... really?

Rick  - thank you for finally wrapping up the Sophia business finally!

    ReplyDelete
  9. YES. I said the exact same ting about T-Dog to my husband. LMAO.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd be so sad and shocked about Sophia except that I knew what was coming a week or so ago. Actually, what I was hoping was that she'd be found safe, having developed outstanding survival skills after being on her own. Not to be.

I really, really liked Shane tonight. I don't find him wild at all, but calculated. In the end, good leadership, Shane. However, I'm glad Lori got him to forget about any ownership of this baby. It's Rick's, even if it's Shane's. Lori, growing a spine as well as a fetus. She doesn't want Shane getting in the way of their marriage. And Shane, Rick is not a bad leader, just a different kind. Diplomacy is not always a bad thing.

I did not like Dale tonight. What a dum-dum to hide the guns.Is he that paranoid about Shane? Glad Andrea mentioned that he's watching her too much. Uh, yeah. She doesn't need him. And if she is beginning to act like Shane, it's because she also is basically pragmatic, adventurous, and a survivalist. Dale's "morals" don't fit this new world.

Glenn is stepping up to the plate, too. And Hershel took this hard, but he needed to face reality.

Everyone is getting sharper, and more heroic, to start the next part of the season in February.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ha! .. .growing a spine as well as a fetus...

I liked Shane tonight too. He is one of those characters I love to hate. I like his batshit crazy attitude. I disagree though and think he would be a terrible leader. Without compassion I don;t think a person can be a good leader.

  12. Intense Ep, good way to leave the season and I'm also glad we got a conclusion to the Sophia story line.. was hoping they would not take the obvious way out and make her a zombie as Predicted but it was still good.

  13. Robert Kirkman said on "Talking Dead" that it was Otis who put Sophia in the barn and the he was the one who would put the walkers in the barn before he died. So really no one knew that Sophia was in there.

    ReplyDelete
  14. True, but Otis was aware that the group was looking for a little girl that happened to look exactly like the one he put in the barn.

Plus my guess is there is not much Otis did that was unknown to Hershel. That man runs a pretty tight ship or at least tries to.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hmmm, not sure what's next for the group. Things were pretty different in the comics. In the comics Hershel lost parts of his family (which was a lot bigger than in the TV show) when the walkers he kept alive broke free and so he realized that they are a threat. Nevertheless the group did move on because they felt it wasn't that safe after all. No fences, no walls - walkers can easily come near them.

But here it was all a big setup for the revelation that Sophia has been turned. At least all the complaining about her story will stop. I never had a problem with it, it can easily happen that someone gets lost in this world. Unfortunately I also read the spoiler so I wasn't actually surprised. I knew Sophia would turn up this episode because I saw that Lintz was mentioned in the credits when the episode started and when they cleared out the barn I knew the spoiler was correct.

Shane annoyed me. Kind of because Bernthal looked like someone forcefed him a grapefruit, but mainly because of his talk with Lori. He saved her 4 times so she simply has to leave Rick and be with him? Rick isn't built for this world and will die for sure? Wow, that's quite a dickish speach. What did he expect Lori to do? Does he really think these words would make her love him?

Glenn was better this week after being kind of a tool last week telling everyone other peoples' secrets. I also immediately thought that it was a waste of an egg, especially in these times.
But his story with Maggie was good this week.

Daryl was a bit wasted on this kind of romantic story with Carol. At least he stayed in character and got mad at her at first. But I'm not a fan of this potential couple.

Andrea didn't do much for me, but it's the first time this season I wasn't annoyed by her, so it's an improvement.

Good episode, pity we have to wait 2 or 3 months now for the show to continue...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Surprised T-Dog is still alive, he's such a useless character, always thought he's zombie food, but he continues to survive...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dale hiding the guns wasn't the smartest move, but I understand his reasons. He knew what was coming and that Shane wanted to clear out the barn. And he also has a reason to be aparnoid because of Shane - he saw him pointing his gun at Rick and last week was even threatened by Shane.

On the other hand, Dale is a very diplomatic person. He knew that getting rid of the barn walkers wouldn't make Hershel happy.
Now the situation is a tricky one. How can Hershel trust the group? They did exactly what he didn't want them to do. I don't see any way for them staying at the farm for much longer now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I concede. I still like the way Shane took over to clean out the barn, overriding Hershel's sentimentality while assuring everyone's safety, but you made a good point about Shane's weak compassion ultimately affecting his leadership skills. It seems that leadership is  going to be switching to different characters, as was done on Lost, depending on their strong suits. Incidentally, Shane's whiney speech about he's a better leader than Rick was just too, too much like Sawyer's talk with Jack about being a better leader because "I read." Annoying. In the end, Rick's shooting of Sophia was done out of compassion as much as necessity, demonstrating true leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "Daryl and Carol." It has a ring to it. I too wonder what's next, after seeing the promo with Rick and Hershel hiding amid a melee going on outside. The windows are shot out and the shooting continues. I wonder what the heck is that all about?

    ReplyDelete
  20. After all the farm is not that safe. There are only some small fences that aren't a really big obstacle, there are no walls, so walkers can come in every time. Maybe they are under attack and realize that the farm isn't such a perfect place to stay after all.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hope they'll get kick out, the farm story has always been boring, I want them to go back on the road and see what is hiding in the next turn, you never know...and be more about surviving then staying safely in the same camp to do laundry

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think Shane would be the perfect weaponized leader! XD

You just charge him up (get him mad) and point him at the target and let him go do his destructive business! XD

Rick does take one too many periods of thought before acting sometimes..... in the ned he may be better at most things than Shane, but if I needed someone to throw a first punch I'd be looking at Shane... Maybe Daryl.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Otis was the one who put her in there, not Hershel.
If Shane hadn't killed Otis then he might have told them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Maybe they will have to travel to a place with high walls and solid escape-proof/ break-in-proof concrete walls? XD

    ReplyDelete
  25. poor Sofia ,,, its all Rick's fault ... if he let Sofia stayed on his side ... she wouldn't be like that ... why the hell did he let the little girl hide ... STUPID RICK

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm sure Rick will blame himself, but if it's anyone's fault it is Sophia's.  She is the one who didn't stay hidden until Rick came back, she is the one who ran off in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  27. they probably keep him in to have the group be more diverse. Him and Glenn are the only ones in the farm who are not caucasian

    ReplyDelete
  28. The best episode of the season for sure.. What a ending !!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I said the same thing. Sadly, he's the token black guy. They could at least try to integrate him into the story a little more.

    ReplyDelete
  30. What an intense, heartbreaking and beautifully tragic five minutes of television.  Best of the season so far.  Wow!
The 'find Sophia' plotline was dragging, but now I realise that it was all in the name of build-up for this one perfect scene.  My faith in the writers has been restored.

Can't wait for the new episodes.

    Time to watch it again...

    ReplyDelete
  31. This episode was by far better than the previous ones.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think someone may have "weaponized" him with some of Merle's Blue Sky ... he had a serious case of the shakes going on.  Dude - find some weed :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I saw that too - he thought it was ironic that the one person who could have told them about Sophia was killed before he got the chance by the very person who wanted to give up the search anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Daryl and Carol ... OMG, it's almost enough to make a diabetic seize up.

I said this in a previous thread but I think the two of them would be just so awkward.  Her sexual experience ... well damn - you saw her husband right?  And Daryl just seems like so much of a loner, I can't see him with a ton of girlfriends willing to put up with Merle for him - especially in the mind set he was in when we first met him.

Carol is such a dependent personality - she needs someone to take care of her (even if it was that sack of dog shit she was married to).  I can see her being weighed down with guilt over Sophia getting lost as soon as she's on her own - like if she had a man to protect her, this would have never happened.  I suppose when you consider that, Daryl is a good match for her as he seems to enjoy the protector role.

That being said - I won't jump this ship.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just wouldn't argue with what the executive producer says happened lol But he honestly probably didn't get the chance to tell anyone that he put her in the barn before he died.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha!
No you're right about just going with Kirkman no matter my personal thoughts.... and Otis was a bit preoccupied when he met the group seeing as he almost killed Carl and then went on his farewell tour with Shane.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Holy Shit! When you heard that noise coming out of the barn at the end, I did not expect them to have the guts to make it "her". Even though some character decisions like how Lori and Carl treated Shane annoyed me, this ending was very chilling and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  38. But one of Herschel's people was feeding the Walkers chickens, wouldn't she make the connection?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Awesome midseason finale, it was a good ending for the sophia story, and it left us all like OMG, did not see that coming.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Kirkman also said that Hershel is the type of guy who might know, but we're going to find out pretty soon. In the sneak peek for the next episode they already talk about it, but it's going to be 2 1/2 months until we know. I have a feeling that Hershel knew.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I suppose it's possible that Sophia was lurking in the shadows and she simply didn't see her. After all it didn't look like she was taking a close look at those walkers.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Worse than the thought of Dale and Andrea?

Reedus mentioned in a few interviews that he tried to play Daryl like a virgin who's a bit like a little boy that thinks girls are gross.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would think one of Hershel's people could have seen her. Unless Otis caught the walkers alone , unlocked the barn lock alone, lifted the wooden crossbar brace alone, undid the chains alone, and opened the doors alone.... all while holding a zombie in a lariat stick in one hand. XD

I mean even if Otis pulled off the superhuman task of doing all these listed feats one-handed while holding the zombie in the other there is still Maggie coming out to feed the walkers and Hershel's  group checking the barn doors to be sure they're secure etc.

Obviously Hershel's group did not ignore the imprisoned walkers completely since more than once Maggie or Hershel listed a number of them in the barn. So they did have knowledge of at least most the occupants.

I guess we just need to take Kirkman as the definitive word on the topic. Odis locked her up alone and never told anyone about her before going out to hunt and shooting Carl. Then did not tell anyone later since he was on the scavenger mission with Shane.

I'll just pretend I don't think they would discuss locking up a little girl ... Something extra tragic and sad often gets discussed.

Oh well, Bring on the back half of the season! I feel like The WAiting Dead and the hiatus has only just begun! XD

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Jimmy definitely was involved in doing this before. He came to Hershel and said it happened again and it looked like he wasn't doing it for the first time. On the other hand he was the only one of the farm inhabitants who joined the group in their search for Sophia.

    ReplyDelete
  45. They need Morales back.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why do you do that ... I threw up in my mouth a little XP

Then I LMAO at Daryl still having his V card ... then laughed even harder at Carol punching it for him.

No matter how sweet I am on Daryl - he totally looks like the type to donkey punch someone because Merle told him that was how it is supposed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOL ... I guess I should just brace myself ... it's going to happen isn't it?  If they hook up on my TV, I will be curled up in the corner sucking my thumb for an hour.  And here is your complimentary Ewwww with a side of blech.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I like that way of looking at it. The survivors are as much the walking dead as the zombies.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was thinking Morgan ... I think we need some new blood either way.  I thought for sure that kid Jimmy had "redshirt" written all over him but he's still alive too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It`s the end of the world. Who cares about the race?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Fu**ing awesome!!! Too bad, we always have to sit though 3 or 4 horribly boring episodes to get 1 as good as this week's.

    ReplyDelete
  52. or they could kill him off a bit before Tyrese is introduced and then he replaces T-Dog. Tyrese has a big role. He will appear and the fandom (or the story) wouldn't let him be some background actionless charatcer.

    ReplyDelete
  53. As much as letting the barn walkers out and shooting them was the sensible thing to do ... I don't think it was right for Shane to behave that way or do that...they were in someone else's home ... it wasn't his decision to make!
that said! 2 month wait! :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. Their shoulders slumped .... it was a very well acted scene! I think even Shane faced the dilemma of what to do next and for a moment I think he was put into Herschel's shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I totally agree. All she had to do was stay put... she was well hidden in that hiding place!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hahah! i thought it would be someone more important to Herschel, like his wife coming out ... and he losing his mind or something! This was totally out of the blue!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Its more of a character driven show now...at least this season is! but i want them to be back on the road ... and busting some zombie butt! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Did you notice Shane "flinch" when Rick walked by with his gun to shoot Sophia?  Made me think Shane knows Rick's still the man.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Guess that isn't a spoiler that in the comics more of Herschel's children had to kill the Zombies coming out of the barn and because they recognized brothers/other kin which bit some of the, Herschel found his mind and killed his zombified family members.

    ReplyDelete
  60. That last scene with Sophia was just heartbreaking, especially with Carol.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sophia made a good zombie for the couple of mins she had
