Simon is a very talented director. I hope we'll get to see him again behind the camera this season, or the next. He has the eye and feel for it. Congrats!
The episode was amazing. At some point, predictable, but precisely to steer us to an ending we did NOT expect. I, for one, am THRILLED to see RJ back.
Lisbon was really great. Her hatred for this guy was remarkable (and normal). I loved how Jane tried to get her in touch with her instincts more.
Barely no Cho/Rigs or VanP. Their scenes were great, but short.
Jane was exceptional as always. Great lines, amazing plan.
I loved when Jane decided to go on Karen Cross' TV show. How he stared into that camera, knowing he was making eye contact with no other than Red John. How RJ hates to be insulted in the media (something Jane knew far too well) and pushed the blogger to the edge, to the point of completely destrying RJ's mediatic image. Fabulous.
The end, when Jane walked up to the smiley on the wall. Smiling. Happy/relieved to know 1) The blogger was dead. 2) RJ is alive, and Timothy Carter wasn't him. Amazing ending.
Oh, what an amazing episode it was! The ending left me pretty much speechless. It was so like Jane to set one killer or another if he couldn't be caught. I was on the edge of my seat for the last few minutes. Truly can't wait for the next episode! I think I can now even forgive the creators for rushing with reinstating Jane at the beginning of the season. ;)
I know but there still was this outro "Now wait for the scenes from the next episode..." at the end so I assumed it meant some new footage from two weeks ahead. :(
I expected the episode bit different then what it was following the promos, but it still was really good and intersting :) Though, I kinda hoped that someone else will be discovered as the SJ killer... Also- correct me if I'm wrong, but they haven't really proved James to be SJ killer before Jan made hime die Oo THe last thing- I did love they way they used RJ just for reminding us he still there :) not best episode of the season, but a great episode indeed
Simon Baker tweeting during the episode. He said they want him to direct another one this season but it's very exhausting. http://twitter.com/#!/mattgossen
It won't make any sense if Patrick will be RJ, unless he isn't aware for it. I mean, he almost got himselfe in preason because of his serching for RJ... Also, it sounds bite impossible after all we know about RJ.
I figured out pretty early that the blogger was the killer and when he and Jane were both sitting in that tv show and the blogger started to insult Red John, I already suspected what was going on. During the whole ending I was like 'nah, Jane wouldn't do that... would he?...maybe he would...he's pretty sure that the blogger is the killer after all...but deliberately lurking Red John out to get the blogger murdered? That'd be PRETTY coldblodded... ' and then he got this phone call and I was thinking 'NO, they haven't really pulled that of, have they? ... OMG they HAVE!!'
When you'd keep score between Red John and Jane, I wouldn't be sure to whom the point would go this time - Jane, because he got Red John to do what he wanted? Or Red John, because Jane's now responsible for another mans death?
Amazing writing!
And the title of the episode, blinking red light, fabulos! When Jane looked into the camera, with the blinking red recording light, you could almost see him deciding weather to go on with his plan to provoke the blogger into insulting RJ and mark him to death with this or leave it. Pretty intense, the whole episode that is.
Highly unlikely for logical reasons I'd say, particularly considering the network and nature of the show.
If he was RJ, there are only two options:
1) he knows he is and is an utterly evil SOB. The whole show would be one big mindf*ck. That's not very likely and doesn't fit the procedural quality of many episodes.
2) he doesn't know he is, meaning he is just plain crazy. That's not very likely considering the nature of the show either.
The whole PJ is RJ angle simply doesn't fit with the type of show and the network, because we would be rooting for someone who is an evil mastermind or someone who is crazy. The reveal would come completely out of left field for all the regular (aka non-hardcore fan) viewers who only tune in every now and then. There would be a sh*tstorm of protests by regular viewers and critics. Unlikely.
Hands down, the best ending to a Mentalist episode this season. Baiting that sicko into badmouthing Red John and having RJ kill him was a cold, calculated stroke of genius. Jane has a real dark, mean streak in him. I like it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The ending was great!
ReplyDeleteYes. It was.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the episode. The end was awesome. I liked Simon Baker's directing. The last episode he did was good but not as good like this one...
ReplyDeletethe fact that jane used Red John to get rid of the pedophile was just brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! SUPERB!

Just a fabulous episode :) I LOVED IT!
Only Patrick Jane can get a serial killer to kill another serial killer
ReplyDeleteIt was!!! Attacking egos of both killers that`s playing with fire :-D.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of RJ: I wonder what he does for a living :-D. What kind of live does he live while not on a hunt.

ReplyDeleteNext week will broadcast a repeat episode.

ReplyDeleteWell played by Jane

one of the best episodes i have seen in a while.... Simon baker should direct more episodes!!
ReplyDeletesome parts were predictable, but that's ok. is patrick jane red john by any chance?
ReplyDeletejane doesn't watch dexter, does he? ;-)
